I witnessed a klan rally when i was about 11 years old and it was exactly as he described. I was staying the night and my neighbors house and we snuck out to go ride our skateboards through a freshly paved strip of road across the street from our neighborhood, where a new apartment complex was being built and the street lamps had recently been installed. This was something we would occasionally do on sundays when there was no work, during the day. At the end of the paved strip we noticed a large amount of light coming from the woods near a pond. We walked down the trail about 50 yards and we saw exactly what he described, klansmen in hoods and robes atanding in a circle chanting around a burning cross. We didn’t understand what was going on at that time, despite being from south carolina, we lived in a relatively diverse, poor neighborhood, so racism was not something that we were taught or understood. It was still haunting despite our lack of understanding. I am grateful that it was just my friend and I that were there that night and that our black and hispanic friends did not join us for that sleepover that weekend.
As long as those differences aren't a threat to white people you mean. You think a conversation with ISIS would lead anywhere? Same thing with the Klan. Should've rounded their kind up a long time ago.

I was the only brown person working there, everyone else were white. He liked the fact that I out worked everyone and did it with a smile on my face. When I asked him why he was racist, he said it was because he had brown/immigrant bosses at three of his previous jobs and they were "assholes". I laughed and said that hundreds of white people puss me off everyday but I'm not racist.I could see him get quiet, looking up as he was processing what i said and then he said "Fuck,I didn't even think of it that way.Shit." Yoda has a scratchy voice, but everyone listens because of the wisdom. Many great things in this world get over looked due to minor annoyances, like wearing a helmet on a hot day while on a motorcycle "oh I'll be fine, just going up the road..". If you aren't racist yourself, picture yourself being so and then imagine what it must feel like to free your mind of that ignorance...I'm sure all the ones that he has helped switch have moments where they remember how they used to think and feel really bad. I couldn't imagine hating people or thinking they're below me for no reason other than their skin.
Yahyah Ali 😂😂that’s exactly it
Jeremiah Shields you’re a great person much love to you
To burn a cross in someone's lawn... It makes me cry how some people can hate so much... I seriously shed tears watching this just trying to imagine why people could live with such meaningless hate in their heart. These are the times where I feel encouraged to get in my feelings. This man is so much stronger, so much braver than I am and it is so humbling to hear his story.
Why don’t we have human beings like him running our country!
Fascinating. Thanks
“Aint like it used to be, no one shows up, can’t get the cross lit” Am I remembering the movie “Fletch” ?
It was the sequel actually.
Fletch Lives

"and then they throw their torches at the foot of this cross and its set on fire, they watch and gaze at this burning cross for however long then they start giving speeches at the podium.......... then they go have some hot dogs and hamburgers and the rallys over"🤣🤣🤣🤣

he doesn't make fun of, nor talk negatively of the KKK or anybody involved. this man is best example of an understanding human being
Woah he got Cleveland to come all the way out from quahog to do this. Joe gots all the connects
Man has done more than either of you ever will.
@@spiralbones wasn't knocking him for his accomplishments. You're right what he did is insane!
“The browning of America “ Bro 😂😂😂
I respect this man deeply. His willingness to tolerate hatred just to show these racist scum are redeemable is admirable and beautiful. Daryl Davis we love you brother
You call them scum first and then redeemable. So which buzzword fits the bill?
You are so wrapped up in everyone else's convictions that you have no clearly defined ones of your own. Just what you've been instructed to say. Not what to truly believe.
@@joeyvanostrand3655scum and redeemable are just words, why the fuck are you getting hung up over colourful language?
Maybe the best Rogan podcast I’ve seen
