    My grandma is going to be 80. Her best friend from when she was little is a sweet black lady named Marion. She lives in Maryland. We went to visit her. I remember hearing stories about how segregation was still very much a thing when they were little.They told me Marion wasn't allowed to walk on the sidewalk so gram would walk in the street with her. It shows how innocent children are. They are still friends to this day. I was born in 1985. Im so glad we were taught everyone is equal no matter what color you are.

    Captivating story.
    Dude is a very wise man.
    I’m a baby boomer. My elders were racist, and I was raised that way. My kids are in their 30’s, and my wife and I raised our children to not
    use color to determine a person’s heart. I think most people my age educated their children to treat everyone equal. The further we get away from the 60’s (and before) the more generations will unite.
    I see more separation from Republicans and Democrats, than I do from whites and people of color. I won’t be around, but I fear for America’s future.

I disagree with his reason for the incarceration rates of black people, he chalks it up to "inequities in the judiciary system" while I would argue it is due to black culture endorsing and celebrating criminality. It would be interesting to debate the topic with Mr. Davis in depth. Still, much respect for an obviously thoughtful and intelligent man.

Why can't they just ask a question, shut up and let the person answer instead of trying to ask and then answer it at the same time? Why do they call it a pet peeve? I don't have any pets, and if I did, I wouldn't want a pet peeve.

    I love one thing Mr. Davis said here..."Why should I be offended by someone who knows nothing about me?" He is so right. So many times, we give the wrong people and their words power in our lives. Chances are...the folks you are letting run you down, or get into your head....are twisted up themselves, and not able to deal..so they project their issues and problem onto others.

    • @cobfucious
      @cobfucious 3 роки тому +10

      Indeed. Unfortunately, with issues like racism....that twist goes every direction. People all over the world are hating people just based on what color they see. Racism has been like an infection on humanity. Which is far worse than a disease..diseases kill, then they are done...infections sit there..and fester, and, if left be, they spread...and that infection does not care what color of person it gets into...left untouched...it turns septic....and finds itself being passed down and on to others.

      Race, Class, Gender, Religion, any difference between us that can be magnified to make one feel superior to the other. It seems that if you get one to level off, or even subside a little..the others pick up the slack. I do think we can make progress in all of these. The problem is....only one things fixes ignorance. That is knowledge. People have to be willing to accept it, and learn from it. That is and has always been the difficult part. Not the knowledge...that has been available the whole time. The people. Possibly the hardest thing on Earth to change. I include myself. I had to learn, too.

      @@cobfucious Many years ago, my family and I lived in an apartment complex that I called Welfare Town. It was low income, with half of the families being Latino. A couple of blocks away there was an elementary school which my kids attended. Before the beginning of the school year, I received a notice that my kids will have to attend another school, which was twice as far away. I ascertained that parents in the wealthier neighborhoods had got the geographic boundaries redrawn, so that our kids wouldn't mix with theirs. In my mind, there was no other explanation. I've resented the wealthy ever since.
