@@godsis5329 yes, most curly hair is dry is what brad means. If you naturally have straight or fine hair that's "usually" not the case. Everyone can be different depending on if you have a dry or oily scalp and how you manage that but overall curly hair is very dry compared to "regular" hair. I hope that's helpful

@@danni1013 number one, their hair takes longer to grow so if they end up having to cut off dead parts then they will take much longer to get back to where they where and two, a bad bleach can completely ruin their curls, girls with straight hair don't have this problem.
The best thing about curly hair is how forgiving it is, it can be yellow, orange, uneven, once those curls dry and you have an afro on, it's gonna look good no matter what

Some misconceptions i see from the video and comments: let’s start with natural hair = dry hair. That is not the case. Our hair dries out easier if not taken care of, which is why we dedicate time into our hair. Natural hair is not automatically dry hair. Then the idea that oil is a moisturizer for our hair. That is not true. It’s a sealant. It locks moisture in and serves as a protective barrier. Also coconut oil does not work for all of us and is definitely not hydrating. There are few oils that can be considered “moisturizing”. Just a few

There are to many black folks here happy with the fact that he on one hand shows love for black hair but he has to do that if he don't want these women to tell him not to be using their videos for content. He is smart as heck but I would like to know does he get permission to use these folks videos? He obviously does not know much about black hair but it helps when having a channel like this, to comment on all types of hair if you want a larger audience. As a person with natural hair let me say tht natural hair doesn’t equal dry. It can get tht way if your done take care if if and some heads are naturally dry just like everyone else with naturally dry hair. My hair is naturally very soft and i tend to keep it moisturized. Hair is different for everyones head.

I tried once years ago and ended up ruining my hair. It cost me $180 to fix it! Long story short, don't ever try putting a dark color over your hair if it ended up coming out too blond, it turns limeade green!
Honestly the amount of times my professor told us funny story's on how they lectured their client's because they cared and told them not to and they still come in with green hair wondering what the hell happened lol the money spent on the box dye bleach/tools could have been used and spent at a salon where professionals can do it for you then teach you how to maintain your hair and style it at home because they know sometimes no one has time or money to come all the time to a salon unless you like high maintenance hair styles and can afford to come in often and chat hell come on in 😭🙈

Honestly, darker hair on you is my absolute favorite.
I've been in a lot of the beauty drama subreddits and it low-key grinds my gears when people make comments about Brad's comments towards natural curly hair's dryness. Ever since I was a little girl my mom, grandma, sister, aunties etc, always stressed how we (black women with curly/kinky hair) don't need to wash our hair too much because our hair is drier than other hair types. The science behind this is all scalps produce oil, though it takes a little longer for that oil to reach the ends of curlier or kinkier hair strands compared to wavier or straighter hair types. When Brad says naturally curly hair is "very dry" it is true for a lot of us! Us curly girls know the pain of running out of our oils and deep conditioners to only be left with a regular shampoo and conditioner. I shudder.
You'll never catch me with dry hair because *I know* that it is dry, and I make a conscious effort to keep it moisturized!
With that said, there are some curlies who can get away with a simple shampoo and moisturizing conditioner, which is dependent upon hair porosity, density, and curl pattern. Those with straighter, fine, and/or low-medium density typically don't need a lot of products and extra oils.
I think it’s because he said “natural hair = dry hair” when it’s not *that* straightforward. I know what he meant, and I also understand why people are upset about. Granted, they just may be taking it way tooo far on those subreddits 😅
Yeah, people are rightfully upset because not all natural hair is dry. Like that's literally not true lmao. Your mom, sister, and aunties were unfairly projecting on the rest of Black women. Simply because your hair is dry, does not mean natural Black hair is inherently dry. Mine isn't. People have different hair and even 4c hair can be extremely naturally soft.

I took it as when bleaching your hair natural hair gets more dry. which all hair does get dry after a bleach because it's breaking down the strand. I believe natural hair is stronger yet and still it all does have to do with hair porosity.
I feel like if Brad taught all my classes I’d actually learn more and pay attention 😂 cause I have “bleach your roots last because they process faster due to the heat from your scalp” embedded in my brain more than most things from my program 💗

I still don't understand the color doesn't lift color part. If I have level 3 hair, dyed to level 5, if I apply a lighter color it will turn lighter (like if I apply 8 it'll go to a lighter 6ish). Halp. I always use the level and mix rule, but I can def lighten my color with just color...
Roosha Mirage if you are talking about a natural color and you take it lighter with a hair dye, that will work. If you apply one hair dye to your hair and then want to take it lighter, you will need to remove the dye completely, then re-dye or use straight bleach.
Brad needs to make a book containing some of the hair tips he says in his videos because it's really useful information for anyone who wants to dye, bleach or do anything else with their hair.
I hope Brad sees this tbh, it's a pretty good idea ☺️

Elsie the Ordinary you just need to find your right shade, not everyone can pull off every color brown with the different undertones you can do. Also if you’re going from blonde to a dark brown or black color and you don’t put red tones in your hair first it’ll make the hair look dead bland and just have no life to it. Hope that helps :)

Honestly it took my hair about 3 years to start looking/feeling like it did before lightening it. I could hold up my wet hair and see 2-3 inches of curly new growth and the rest of my hair was limp spaghetti 😭
