@Crro193 As far as I know, you're never stuck in close combat with a regular vehicle because it has no CC attacks. Therefore you should be able to charge at it again and again.
@Icicle240 @Icicle240 Every non-vehicle unit (but walkers like a Dreadnought can) can charge into close combat as long as they fulfill certain criteria (not shot with Heavy or Rapid Fire guns, not having the "Slow & Purposeful" special rule, ...). However, the units with "Furious Charge" get some bonuses when charging. The assaulting move itself is a general rule for almost all infantry. The fex exceptions have it listed in their special rules (like Thousand Sons Chaos Space Marines, ...).
@NexusARC depends actually theres a couple different variations of both baneblade and titan's as each has its own kitting for weaponry. In my opinion if you wish to know more about Baneblades you should look into getting the Apocalypse rule book as well as the reloaded one, no i didnt say BUY i said get one, PDF it in my opinion as unless you really get into Apocalypse rules theres no point in the waste of money
wait... do you get the extra attack from charging on your second turn if you charged in the first? it just sounded like that when Matt was talking about the trygon´s assault turn at 09:12
@iouakick When a vehicle, not a walker is assaulted, the rules assume that the unit assaulting the vehicle is more maneuverable then the vehicle and can get to the rear (weaker spots) of the vehicle. They also assume that a Walker is just as maneuverable as the troops assaulting it, so that is why unless the walker is immobilized you strike against the front armor.
Doesn't the Landraider have Power of the Machine spirit which means it can fire an extra weapon even if it moves. (The assault cannons are defensive because they're strength 4) so it could fire all it's weapons. Is that right?
@Faydwarf y dont you look at the codex you can not upgrade flamestorm cannons so befor you have a go look it up and going from a multi-melta to a storm bolter is not a upgrade its a down grade as the multi-melta is a lot beter than a storm bolter
few things 1) if you are going to use a land raider get your facts strait. is the model a land raider or a land raider redeemer? in this case its nither because that one has flame storm cannons and a heavy bolter. redeemer has an assault cannon. 2) a heavy bolter only has 3 shots not 4. 3) I am not sure how you play the game but i am pretty sure you can re-roll the trygons attacks in close combat even if its agains a vehicle.
i'm intrested in tau cause i like to shoot a lot and with heavy weapons ... which the tau have ... so is there a beginners video on tau i can look at ? ... problem is i'm currently low on money but i think when i get money later i think i make a tau army... guess 2x firewarrior squads 2x devilfish 1xhammerhead 3x battlesuits and an hq should be a good beginning ...
thank you for these videos,(even though there are some mistake) I really enjoy these tutorials.I am trying to get into the table top my self and these make it alot easier to understand some of the videos you post.
@Batza1994 The Crusader has a capacity of 16 models, and models in Terminator Armour take double space. So you can't have more than 8 terminators in a Crusader.
How come he didn't add the +1 to any of the penetrating hits? I kow two of them at the end were 6's anyway, so the vehicle was blown up, but earlier, the 4 that immobolized the vehicle should've wrecked it instead.
Not knowing the landraider specifics isnt too big of an issue (though that clearly is not a storm bolter) as he doesnt play SMs. The issue is that he could definitely improve on his rules knowledge of the Tyranid book...I can understand leaving out special rules for simplicity, but scything talons 100% do allow you to reroll against moving vehicles. No idea why there is a specific note telling us otherwise. There are a lot of mistakes in the beat matt batreps as well unfortunately
@damo169 i would pick up a battle force of your chosen army. they give you a nice mix of troops and mechanized. and it give you a bit of a cost break then buying all the parts to it separately. and should be right around your wanted cost of 500 pts. no depending on the army it can run you anywhere from 90-120. dollars US. hope this helps and good luck with your future army and games.
any ideas for what size force i should start with iwas thinking around 500 points worth does that sound around right if u just want to start off small for just a couple of quick games ?
OK i give up... can i find a rulebook on how to play 40k on the internet? :) I wanna get an overview of how complicated exactly it is, cause right now it looks like it's too complicated :P
This is why if you're playing against TEAR-nid cheese with a vehicle that has lascannons (flamestorm cannons, derp) you drive at full speed away. Then shoot at long range, TEAR-nid runs and gets closer, drive away.
Hmmm its interesting that the Trygon actually can beat up the Land Raider if it is starting to close but what if there were more than one Land Raider that'd be something really interesting to see
Nope. But if you have a friend that also wants to get into Warhammer 40k you can split the cost of an Assault on Black Reach starter set. It's 100 bucks but it comes with two armies. (There's a used one on Amazon for sale for 75 right now) As for getting new models ebay and craigslist are a good place to look. Don't bother getting it unless you have a place to play and someone to play with though.
Now, what you really want with this is some kroot so that your not as useless with close combat XD Basically they will help if the enemy gets in your face so you can hold them off while running away screaming so you can fire once they get back out of combat if the kroot loose. Course, thats how I play, but its really up to you.
@YuriPRIMEpoland Pssh. Ultrasmurfs. Well, I suppose they're good. They have better Toughness than most armies. But I take those same marines and make them dish out 150 attacks in one turn. THATS why Blood Angels are awesome. Oh and the Feel No Pain for everybody.
Playing the PC games I liked the Dark Eldar the most. I would just build up massive armies of Wychs and tear through everything. I'm wanting to start playing the table top version soon and try it out for real. ^-^
@Crro193 As far as I know, you're never stuck in close combat with a regular vehicle because it has no CC attacks. Therefore you should be able to charge at it again and again.

Imperial Guard/Catachan Jungle Fighters. Nothing beats a platoon of BMFs. Love the vids guys, keep them coming.
@WarHammer40kWorld right you are. Even though i think there are some characters with special rules that can remove the immobilized condition
@TheMartieno did you really meant there that twinlinked means that you have doubleshots? :D:D did you evar played 40k?
@NexusARC depends actually theres a couple different variations of both baneblade and titan's as each has its own kitting for weaponry. I'm new to this kind of table game, but familiar with warhammer 40k. I would like to ask you is it possible to lay invisible mines by any means?
Doesn't the Landraider have Power of the Machine spirit which means it can fire an extra weapon even if it moves. (The assault cannons are defensive because they're strength 4) so it could fire all it's weapons. Is that right?

@TheDortmunderJungs It does have 4 hits, cuz it's twin-linked and 1 normal heavy bolter has 2 hits so...
where did you guys get all your figurines and stuff? i know where rulebook can be found but the actual sqauds and stuff
few things 1) if you are going to use a land raider get your facts strait. is the model a land raider or a land raider redeemer? in this case its nither because that one has flame storm cannons and a heavy bolter. redeemer has an assault cannon. 2) a heavy bolter only has 3 shots not 4. 3) I am not sure how you play the game but i am pretty sure you can re-roll the trygons attacks in close combat even if its agains a vehicle.

@DeMooray98 Hell yes. It's an amazing rule that allows a shock attack, and demoliches guard blob squads effectively.
What paints did you use on the Trygon? Thanks!
thank you for these videos,(even though there are some mistake) I really enjoy these tutorials.I am trying to get into the table top my self and these make it alot easier to understand some of the videos you post.
how comes you rolled 4 dices for the heavy bolters?
@Batza1994 The Crusader has a capacity of 16 models, and models in Terminator Armour take double space. So you can't have more than 8 terminators in a Crusader.
why do you roll against the rear armour when hes attacking from the front?
How come he didn't add the +1 to any of the penetrating hits? I kow two of them at the end were 6's anyway, so the vehicle was blown up, but earlier, the 4 that immobolized the vehicle should've wrecked it instead.
umm im new to 40k and i wanted to know what and how many people do u have to have to make an army?
How do you do that water effect on the board?
Not knowing the landraider specifics isnt too big of an issue (though that clearly is not a storm bolter) as he doesnt play SMs.

Don't you use front armor in assaults?
@jakeenaider I know. Im a Tau player. I cant not see those tactical hickups.
Will there be any tau vs something
How many points is a Baneblade? How many Points is a Titan?
woud the outcome change if he had used the storm bolter as a meltagun
so somebody tell me why was that landraider in gray?
I thought Ultramarines' color scheme is blue&white?
@Irtehdar as he said he wanted to show what happends when a trygon gets close
any ideas for what size force i should start with iwas thinking around 500 points worth does that sound around right if u just want to start off small for just a couple of quick games ?
What happens if no matter what you can't glance or pen the vehicle? (Strength too low)
What happens when the thunder hammers and storm shields hop out of the raider to kill the trygon?
whats the point of the one hundred sided dice?
@keymaster013 Sure, I'd love to honestly :) The bottom line is "For the Emprah!"
how do you upgrade your minitures
im not sure i this is a bullshit rule but my friend said the Trigon could dig and pop up underneath enemies, is that a real rule?
The Baneblade isn't only for epic is it?
@crustworthy1 i know, i just mean the hits he is gonna make, not with the re roll hits
those look like flamers, not twin linked las cannons.
is it true that their comes a new tau codex in juni 2012 ?=)
is there somewhere i can get a cheap starter kit (as in under 30 bucks)
No hull points? Why?
I'll be honest... Mini heart attack when that Trygon wobbled at 4:21...
old one we on 6th ed now do you have 6 ed one to show me how smash attack works?
Tau/Chaos(Demons) I love those two, I normally play tau and chaos on Dawn of war. I never played the table top game in my life. xD
OK i give up... can i find a rulebook on how to play 40k on the internet? :) I wanna get an overview of how complicated exactly it is, cause right now it looks like it's too complicated :P
meh fveroute is deh space marines :D also why have you done an ultramarine stivker and you painted it kinda like the black reavens
Whoa, from 1:27 - 2:00 , the camera started to zoom out. I was watching the landraider and it looked like it was moving by itself! XD
Wow! Need to remember so many rules
well I have not played it but I would like to get the dark angles
wonder since when a multimelta is a stormbolter isnt the rule what u see is what you get?
What you see is what you get is a bullshit rule by GW to rinse you for extra $$££$$
Necron and I haven't played a game yet
Doesn't the Land Raider have better armour than the Baneblade?
This is why if you're playing against TEAR-nid cheese with a vehicle that has lascannons (flamestorm cannons, derp) you drive at full speed away. Then shoot at long range, TEAR-nid runs and gets closer, drive away.
No complaint from me, I just started with the necrons. and I have fallen in love with the race
but heavvy bolter get 3 shots, not 4 ?
nice highlighting on the trigon
so wait i get a 2nd dice? i once attacked a furioso dreadnaught and the trygon couldnt do shit because you cant attack walkers on the back in CC.
@3000whitedragon "this is a normal landraider with a few upgrades" he just used the redemer as a count as for a normal landraider
oh yeah we love miniwargaming
This is going to be fun
@keymaster013 Oh :P well if you approach it with distance and humour I guess it can be fun. I rotlf basicly at lore-warriors
GO TYRANIDS AND TAU
Btw when u doin a tau 40k history?
Hmmm its interesting that the Trygon actually can beat up the Land Raider if it is starting to close but what if there were more than one Land Raider that'd be something really interesting to see
can u please re do this vid
Thanks, I've really rusty on Tanks and anything non-SM related
I like my tau and blodstainer if your referring to epic 40000 then no it's in 40k 2
whait why are half the comments removed I didn't remove any of mine?
since when was an ultramarine painted black?
Tau are my favorite because you have to employ stratigy instead of orks, where you just run over your enemys... but i do like the loota rule. =D
how bout those human helpers/IG deserters?
yes and no, they have the same Armour value but the bane blade is much more durable because of the different super heavy vehicle damage table.
I enjoyed this a lot!
@wailco96 sure :D
@3000whitedragon he said it had a couple upgrades, learn to listen imo
The landraider had flamestorm cannons and a multimelta
Nope. But if you have a friend that also wants to get into Warhammer 40k you can split the cost of an Assault on Black Reach starter set. It's 100 bucks but it comes with two armies. Mathew I am a serious Ork fan and I can relate to what you say SWARMS are for your Tyranids but THE GREEN TIDE is my swarm :D
Ah thanks! Your tutes are amazing
Because there isn't room for it, if we have to be able to see it.
10:01 (person in tank) "hey i think the best is almost dead","lets finish him... wait... hey put us down you some of a.... AHHHHHHH!!!! HELP!"
Now, what you really want with this is some kroot so that your not as useless with close combat XD Basically they will help if the enemy gets in your face so you can hold them off while running away screaming so you can fire once they get back out of combat if the kroot loose. Course, thats how I play, but its really up to you.
I’m a tyranid I just painted my Trygon today an I wanted to learn how good it was
@YuriPRIMEpoland Pssh. Ultrasmurfs. Well, I suppose they're good. They have better Toughness than most armies. But I take those same marines and make them dish out 150 attacks in one turn. THATS why Blood Angels are awesome. Oh and the Feel No Pain for everybody.
is that all?
to bad he didnt count it as a multimelta cuz arent those rly high strenght ?
That Land Raider got ripped to pieces once it entered melee.
@YuriPRIMEpoland I know...it's even worse when I've created a Chapter of Blood Angels thats turned to Chaos, and play it. :D
This is like Deadliest Warhammer Warrior
Space Marines, specifically Black Templars, they look badass and own in close combat
wtf so wounds are its health?
also the heavy bolter is 3 shots not 4 :)
I usually play Space Marine or Tyranid but lately I've been in a bit of a Necron phase.
Necrons are the best, although they need an update. Crypteks sound awsome like what they are supposedly doing to scarabs.
Playing the PC games I liked the Dark Eldar the most. I would just build up massive armies of Wychs and tear through everything. I'm wanting to start playing the table top version soon and try it out for real. ^-^
you made quite a few mistakes as the space marine player but props to you for owning up to it, all in all still very helpful thaks!
