Forearms, please! The deltoid, bicep and tricep, etc. are straightforward enough, but the forearm's muscles and how they all connect has to be the most confusing part of the body anatomically! Also, seeing a new video legit made my day ahah. Please keep it up

love that you address the fact that knowing how to paint a back from memory have no real productive use in a commercial environment, but the process is so rewarding that you do it anyway. #relatable
But why not? There are some characters that don't wear shirts in anime for example so knowing how to draw or paint backs can be used
@@salty_3k506 Because drawing from imagination takes longer, so mangakas will usually use some references rather than relying purely on their memories. Even Disney does this.
@@keif9447 Oh true, I didn't think of that. But if you have a character that you want to draw from any angle, knowing how to draw a back from memory is good. Like you likely won't just have a single shot of a back straight on. That would just be limiting your creativity

I think the process vs product point is interesting. For me, I learned art to get into storytelling mediums like comics and animation, so learning how to draw things from all angles without references isn't just for the sake of it, it's a necessary skill. I still use a ton of reference because there's a lot of things I haven't learned enough yet to be intuitive, especially with action poses, but I also think a trained eye can really tell the difference between someone who's built a painting from the ground up and someone who's photobashed it together.
I think that might be part of why I also enjoy seeing sketch lines etc in finished work sometimes. At any rate I much prefer it to overly rendered, smooth, shiny skin, anyway.

i would love a lesson on how to connect all of the concepts you've covered together, for example, pelvis and the ribcage. but i guess that would be at the end most likely. but line confidence and design of appealing shapes would make a great lesson.

Yay seeing this return makes me so happy! After I went through your old quick tips I had the most fun ever painting skintone and breaking my selfdoubt on human anatomy. Every foot I draw now look great and I get happy every time, thx to you! I still have problems with the neck and generally when twisting and turning parts

I just came back from a long walk, and my head was full of psychedelic ideas. I kept noticing how everything influences everything, and that a color here affects a color there, and how in a painting, that cliche idea that "we are all one" is really true. And I got excited to paint from imagination because it felt like I was actually understanding the world around me, and not blindly copying a photograph. This was the first video I clicked on when I came back from that walk and I'm so glad--I really enjoyed the art talk around 3/4th's of the way in (around 11:00). Thank you for all of the fantastic content and humor and everything.

I think it's important to draw from reference AND imagination. Reference helps you get the forms accurate, but imagination helps you learn how to combine it in a creative way.

Its important for those starting out to know the proportions and positions of the muscle and skeleton relative to one another. With enough practice only then you are able to juz wing it like sinix here

Yaayyy awesome video Sinix! I dont think I've ever strictly drawn the back of a person in the last 2 years of drawing lmao. I really need to start doing that. I just find drawing the back a boring process compared to the front part of the torso so yea, this video was quite motivating. I also need to start learning to colour. I really love your blocky method of putting down a bunch of colours and slowly and meticulously blending them till they look coherent and weave very well with each other.
That little speech in the end is really nice. Everybody wanted to be a professional artist and forgotten how nice it feels to be just an artist

Your ramblings are beautiful worded and enlightening, I never gave too much thought about product based art and technological influence in why people criticize legitimacy. Your views on it were really eye opening. I have a very romanticized outlook to the point it has hampered my work and with this new view I may try to relax a bit more and focus on the final image and Not the process

I've always been so obsessed with the end result of a piece without even starting to draw it out, and ultimately I'd get upset with myself when I wasn't able to immediately reach the destination I was searching for and it'd destroy my mental health and overall outlook on myself as an artist. But I think now I'll try to think more on the journey and adventure of art, not where I'll end up with it

I have the same view of art as well. I tend to enjoy memorizing the anatomy and trying to produce things from memory.

To create a beautiful work is a value in itself, but for me the value of learning a skill is in the self that you become when you acquire that skill. When you first start construction it is very hard to imagine actual images and even harder to imagine images that accurately describe form. I believe constructing believable anatomy form imagination has value because you acquire a brain that is able to produce these images and hands which are able to reproduce the images you've imagined. I also think the understanding of form you gain from practicing construction can lead to creative uses of technology. Thanks for sharing your visual information on backs. :)
