Thanks! In actuality if you do the work yourself you could end up with an ST for far less than the cost of actually buying one, just have to factor in how much your time is worth.

Year later but do you have a full breakdown of the swap? I'm looking into doing this soon for my hatchback, I don't think I'll have issues with mounting the motor and bolting on all the parts needed etc.. it's more the wiring that scares me 😂 I never dealt with electronics / wiring in a car

Yah , that is the main reason I did the swap in the first place, the auto trans in these are horrible , it kept going out every year . Glad to have the manual 6spd now

I didn't use any of the sedan suspention up front . Whole subframe was swapped . I only kept the rear subframe for now. I have the ST rear subframe on standby for when I want coilovers . I kept the sedan rear just so I didn't need to buy new rear springs
@@ryanscheer5696 Yes sure ! It's better doing it that way...I guess the torque output on the drive shafts and differential will not be good on the normal focus parts. Thanks for your share ! I'll keep you posted about the swap :)
@@hanshamrewa7071 yeah it makes the swap very simple . Just 4 bolts hold the entire subframe in place . Make sure to soak them in penetrating oil . I had one snap on me and it was a pain to get out
Are you just rubbing springs? How has the rest of the suspension held up with them? I ran coilovers for a while and it broke a bunch of oem suspension parts
Just HR springs . So far everything has held up okay. I don't have adjustable camber in the rear so the inside edge of the tire wears faster . But other than that is been great . I will eventually swap the st rear end so I can run st coilovers all the way around
Yes that is correct, dropped the whole engine trans and sub frame as a unit. Started up great after i plugged everything in, as far as the car thinks , it still thinks its a 2016 ST hatch lol
is this a really hard swap? Could someone like me with enough knowledge to know wrong from right, maybe as far as installing suspension and hand tools be able to pull it off?
I wouldn't say it's hard from a custom fabrication point of view, but it does require you to disassemble 2 cars and re assemble one complete car. It can be done as long as you pay attention to how things come apart so you can put it back together like the factory did
@@ryanscheer5696 I plan on getting a 14’ ST. I have the 14’ sedan, so I’m assuming all the harnesses are the same. I know for sure the mounts for engine and tranny are all in the same spot. Bolt was it bolt in..?
@@Static_MK3Focus you will still need to swap the engine bay harness and dash harnesses at a minimum. If you go that route you will need to take it to a Ford dealer to make the computers talk . Or do the full body harness swap, which is what I did
@@Static_MK3Focus depends on what you have available, if you have a good buddy at a dealer that can help, then just doing the engine bay and dash harness . But if not the full body harness swap will have to be done

I was hoping i could just use the same condenser and compressor from the se , but , I realized it was all different , I had to disconnect it all anyway .
@@ryanscheer5696 I'm doing a straight swap in the ST and was hoping I can avoid disconnecting the a/c lines and messing with that shit. Looks like if I take the coil etc loose it will swing away
@@tractorback76 yeah doing the st conversion it had to all come off , but if it's just going from and st into an st you can just take the condenser off of the radiator and drop the ac compressor . That way you can leave the ac system alone and pull the engine / trans out
Did you mark your harness each connector you too off I saw the blue tape and no tuning it needed since your swapping ecu correct, how long did it take you and about how much did it cost.
Hey! Yeah I did every one was marked. No tuning needed because I took the entire st harness and controllers and put them in the sedan . Took me about 3 weeks doing it after work and on weekends . Cost was just as much as the parts car itself , plus needing to buy a condenser, radiator and airbag.

I do not know of one, I just took alot of photos . The good thing is many of the plugs can only go in 1 spot. The biggest thing to remember is the ground locations . Then if you have a friend and a test light for doing the tail light wiring , just like doing a trailer
There is , but requires controller reprogramming by Ford . Also I had to in this instance because I went up 2 model years . Many of the harness plugs are completely different . Things like the abs , doors seats all have unique plugs . That being said Rebel devil customs has done these swaps without swapping body harnesses, but the dash still needs to be changed
@@vtecequipped I see , I have Forscan , that's what I've been doing to clear codes and disable the tpms. Essentially the as built data would have to think it's a sedan with the equipment of the sedan. Would that work for the key as well? The st had push button and my sedan did not .
In that case no because the keyless uses more/different modules than the regular key style. Has the rfa module and the bcm is different. I'm not sure why you couldn't just parameter reset the bcm/pcm and use your factory ignition/key/locks. The bcm tells the pcm to turn rhe engine over. That has to be an easier way.

This one took about a month while working on it nights and weekends. I did nearly all of it myself aside from bleeding the clutch and brakes . Cost is whatever you can buy a salvage st for
Hey it depends on alot of things ! You have to factor in auction fees and shipping if you buy it from copart or something . It ranges from $2k-8k depending on the condition of the donor . If you can get a better donor you will spend less getting the parts needed to fix it

none of the sedan components are left aside from the Body. The entire cluster and all the controllers are from the ST

no that wasnt to bad, I used the ECU and harness from the ST so it went right in

Thanks ! Currently it has the fs werks se sedan 2.5" kit . The one I'm building now has a cobb 3" downpipe back system

For Forscan could do it. I'm a ford tech. All they do is modify the as built data.

This one took about a month while working on it nights and weekends. I did nearly all of it myself aside from bleeding the clutch and brakes . Cost is whatever you can buy a salvage st for

How much did the donor car cost you?
Hey it depends on alot of things ! You have to factor in auction fees and shipping if you buy it from copart or something . It ranges from $2k-8k depending on the condition of the donor . If you can get a better donor you will spend less getting the parts needed to fix it

I would think so but I haven't tried , I really want to do a mazda speed 3 sedan sometime
@@ryanscheer5696 I have 2006 Mazda 5 and think that would be a worthy build. It's a better set up than the Mazdaspeed because the ST has a diff .
