Thank you!!! I have a similar patio table with unremovable glass. While the table has held up extremely well through the years, we have had to replace the chairs and umbrella so the metals no longer match so I wanted to repaint the table but for the life of me couldn’t figure out how since the glass can’t be removed and you can’t get to the top of the legs otherwise. Then I found this video! Now I know what my project will be this weekend! So excited!
Can't argue will free 😎
Pick up trucks really come in handy 🤠
Great job taping off the glass. Nice retro red color! Thank you for making the video and sharing with us!! God bless you!!
Thank you for this! I've just washed down my tired patio table and I aim to paint it this week!
Great job . I am inspired to continue to keep spraying my old stuff. Thanks
I'm so happy I found this. My weekend project. TY
I normally do not comment on videos but this was a FUN video to watch. Easy DIY for sure and great choice of music.
Looks nice...think I will try to do my smaller table. Love the color
The red umbrella was the icing on the cake.
Awesome! First thing that showed up when I googled covering rust, and its the exact same table that I have.
The music is great! Nice work on the table too!
Looks good. I'll have to redo mine.
Amazing Video! This helped me out. I have a similar patio table with the same glass and rusty gray trim. I spray painted mine Walnut Brown to match the new patio chairs. Thank you so much for posting!! 😄
Ray Fernandez glad I could help you give new life to your table! Thanks for watching.
Excellent going to re-paint my patio table red to match parasol x
Thank you, I am doing some painting projects, and one is a table that glass can't be removed. Even more, I'm going to paint umbrella stand. Wonderful informative video!!
Holy goodness! This is just exactly what I needed. Got a free table exactly like this and I wasn't sure if the bottom frame came off. Thank you! Thank you! So glad you posted this!
Ours wasn't freeeee...I wish but I'm pretty sure it was cheap. I've been dying to paint it because it's ugly green. It did come with the chairs and cushions though. It's looking pretty bad these days. I'm hopeful that I can actually redo it now though.
Like you I wasn't sure if it could actually be taken apart!
Since your comment is pretty old I'm wondering...did you repaint yours?
Awesome!!😍
Great tutorial. Thanks for sharing.
That looks so good! I love the red
Sonia Hamilton thank you!
Great thank you 😁 now motivated to do mine xx
I LOVE IT!! I LOVE IT!! I LOVE IT!! I have two smaller versions of this table and you gave me the inspiration to repaint them over again!! thank you for sharing!! Did I mentioned, I love it!!lolol
ChaCha Morres glad to hear! Go give them a new life!
Well done!
Very nice good job 👍🏻
Love this
Nice update to the table
Eye Toldyoosso thank you!
Good job😊
I’ve got a similar glass top, only round, though but I don’t know how to dismantle it!!!I want to spray it another colour.
The umbrella pedestal will peal-off in no time when you paint over rust, even if you sand it. it needs to be sanded to the bare metal and then primed with a rust inhibitor before final coat.
Was just thinking the same thing
Do you know what type of sandpaper I need to remove the rust?
ed najar first of and to make the job more simple, use emery cloth sanding pads, the come in at fine, medium and coarse. Start with coarse and work your way down to fine. I would use a paint remover first to get any paint that may flake off and the go to sanding our the rust.
I used rustoleum oil base gloss black spray paint after I sanded and scrapped off any paint/rust that was peeling. It’s made it through one summer so far.
Aluminum doesn’t rust. I have the same table.
Thank you! I have the exact same table that I’m looking to paint. I was wondering what screws you were loosening … does that help with removing the top?
Anyone know where to get the plastic connectors that fit on the end part of the frame that wedges itself underneath the table frame? It is 1.5” oblong in shape.
Wow, perfect thank you
That's the exact table i have and need to brighten up...found you on my first DIY search within 1 minute,,awesome job..Thanks for the video. By the way ZOE is cute(;
Glad I could help. Thank you for watching!!!
I wonder if you can use glue to attach tabe legs to table
Looks Great 👍🏾
Thanks did you have to sand paper first?
Great dropcloth!
I have a patio table and the glass is held together by wired pins the heads have circular holes in them and the back piece is bulged. Do you know how I can get these off?
I have a similar table and was wondering how to get the glass out before spraying 🤔 ahh! You don’t! Thank you
The paint is chipping on ours. Should I sand it first? That sounds like a lot of work. It will definitely be ugly where the paint has came off. I really don't feel up to completely removing the old paint. Maybe I can fill it in somehow...😒
i probably would have popped the glass out, was thinking i'd have to go something neutral on mine but this looks good in a bold colour
Wouod definitely get a better coverage that way, but the glass is super fragil and doesn’t take much flexing to shatter. So I chose the safe route!
The question i had and the answer to it. Thanx y'all!
Always add at end 2 coats of clear, repeat every 2 years
Yes watch this video every two years please!
Looks great! Can you tile the glass top?
Valerie Martinez I wouldn’t recommend string that much weight to the glass as it’s tempered and will shatter into many little bits. But if you remove the glass or have broken glass already. Tossing in a plywood top and tiling that wouldn’t be too hard.
I receieved the same kind of table today!! The sides of the table are scratched. Can I just spray paint right over?
You will want to scuff the old paint as well as you can with a Brillo pad or really high grit wet sand paper. Then you should be good to paint! Have fun!!!
I didn't catch what kind of paint you used??
Rustoleum!!!
Lol next time get plastic drop cloth so nice green grass isn't red lol
Katherine Canon haha grass is nature’s drop cloth. Two mows and it’s green again.
@@jharmondesign That's what I was thinking! Lol 😂
Nice work. Great looking result
Did you give it a thorough wash before painting?
jayarajlcc I scuffed it down before painting but lost the footage. But yeah I scuffed it all like I did the umbrella base. And then wiped it all with a damp rag to clean dust.
You forgot to do the underneath. Obviously you can see the old brown stuff bc it’s clear glass.
I went back and did it later but yes you can tape both sides of the glass and spray under if you choose. Great observation!
@@jharmondesign I’ve been redoing mine for a week. I could see every missed nook & cranny. I finally just took the glass out, legs apart, etc so I could get every piece. Bc you can still see the ugly brown clips if you never remove the glass. It took 20 minutes to take it completely apart. Versus the 6 times I taped everything off. It’s a true easy paint job if you’re doing big easy pieces instead of taping everything. Just my opinion… that I had to learn the hard way lol.
@@kristiescruggs1320 I have seen too many of these tempered glass table tops shatter from minimal force. So I’m not going to recommend people remove the glass as I wouldn’t want to see people get injured from shattered tempered glass. Good on you for doing it safely. And
Wouldn't have been easier to remove the glass top from the frame?
I tried that first. But couldn’t get them separate without cutting and bending the frame. So tape and newspaper it is.
Looks great! Do you need to put a poly coat on to keep it looking that good?
Victoria Sieger I did a few coats of the red. And it seems to be holding up well, through winter storage and everything. But you certainly could do a few costs of clear for added protection. And also to protect other things like the chairs from getting red on them.
thanks! I'll try it :)
Raphaël Peters not this time. And the paints held up great over the last year.
YESI did. I used Rustoleum dual Primer & paint Spray in Peacock Blue. Took 8 cans for a 4 person round table, 2 rocker chairs, lounger & 2 small side tables. Two coats. I also sprayed with poly to protect. Managed to remove the glass from the table rim so did not have to tape paper down. Spread a tarp over the lawn and painted early in the morning before it got too hot. Turned out great. Recommend the project.
@@victoriasieger4779 was removing the glass difficult? My table legs have quite a bit of rusting and I want to change out the colour from a light beige to a semi gloss black. I want to be able to paint the inside trim so that the beige won’t be seen once the glass top is put back on.
How many cans of paint did you use?
talkingalwayz I don’t remember exactly but I’d guess around 2-3 cans
J. Harmon Design ty :)
But why not finish UNDER the table. I'll give this an 9. Incomplete.
Now get some paint for the grass
J- roc grad is natures drop cloth. Mow it and the paints gone!
Zoe seems nonplussed
Luis Fernando Moran de Oliveira she wasn't having it.
How do you remove the glass? This is BS! I know how to paint. You showed nothing!
You obviously don’t know how to paint if you need to remove the glass to do so.
Sucks!
csalinas0385 which part sucked most.
