    I was having kind of a rough day, so I decided to throw myself into restoring my patio set, which had some rust. I have to tell you that there was something very soothing about your voice and the calm, straight to the point way that you filmed this video. Thanks for posting this. I’m off to go restore mine now.

    They also make the paint that you can brush on. I think I’d go that route, using a drop cloth to save the grass.

    You left the job half done. Rust Reformer is not paint and is not intended to be a final surface, nor is it a primer. Its only purpose is to transform rust to a paintable surface. It should be applied to rusted areas, then the whole piece should be primed and painted.

    I did this with my storm / security doors a few years ago. I found my angle grinder with wire brush worked much better.

    How did you get the glass out? i have a similar table that has 6 sides but it has a lip on the top that holds the glass in place.

    • @burrheadjr
      @burrheadjr  2 роки тому

      Mine didn't have any lip on the top, so I could just lift it up.

    • @larrywilson8290
      @larrywilson8290 2 роки тому +1

      The lip is removable. Look underneath the table top. There are screws that hold it on.

    How long do you think it will be before the rust returns? I need to do this as well, but I wonder if I am just delaying the inevitable. Everything will just fall apart one day. I now that automobile restorers use a product that rids metal of the rust for good. Don't remember the name of the product, though. It's a complicated method using several products before the final finish.

      I don't know, but I have had thesefor a year and a half after the treatment, and so far, it still looks like it does on the video, and I leave these chairs out in the elements.

      Rust Reformer is not paint and should not be used as a final surface. It should only be applied to rusted areas before painting an priming as usual. As a final coat, it may be good for 4-5 years as opposed to 20+ years if primed and painted.

    Hi. It looks great! This was very helpful info. I am about to redo some patio furniture, and would like to video my progress. Are you by chance using your phone to video, and if so, how are you doing that hands free? Do you have some kind of harness or mount for phone, and what exactly did you use? Thank you!

    • @burrheadjr
      @burrheadjr  3 роки тому

      I actually have a little cube camera with a head mount. If you jump to 9:55 of the wine making video I did, you can see what I used:
      ua-cam.com/video/l9Djjt7KfiY/v-deo.html
      I would also think you could get by with a camera phone on a stand or tripod.
