This hack does work…. The press temperature and press time is what I use. The butcher paper is not necessary because it doesn’t bleed through your garment. Lastly, what went wrong was you cured the film paper for way too long. It only needs to cure for about a minute at max, 30-45 seconds is ideal. You actually can skip the cure process altogether and it’ll still work. Curing it too long will cause for the ink to completely dry. This will cause for the press to try and transfer for ink that’s already been dried, causing for it to give the distressed look and not all the ink to come off the film onto the garment. So try the hack again, only this time don’t cure it more than a minute or not at all. Hope this helps someone…❤
I do it but I don’t cure it. After I do the powder then go ahead and press it on the shirt 385 for 35 secs, heavy pressure. Do a cool/cold peel, and I don’t have any issues.
Thanks for your comment ! I believe not cure it prior to use the heat press is the best choice ! I mean, I did not tried yet but an lady here in UA-cam did without cure , and it worked perfectly !
I started doing this and you're baking it to long. What I've done is just heating (baking) till the powder melts a bit, usually 2 min give or take. I press at 385 for 45 seconds and then I peel fast in one motion once cool, not letting it get completely cold. Hope this helps and y'all do more videos on this :)
First of all you need decent DTF film. There are 100s of different ones now and most of them are trash for this type of application. Your one is not even peeling properly. Secondly, decrease the distance between the heat press and the transfer. Cure for 3 minutes at 150C. Press for 15 seconds at 150C with medium to high pressure. Peel when completely cold if you are using cold peel film. Finally, if you have a compatible printer model, print using rip software. Then you will be able to apply a bit more ink. More ink = more liquid for the powder to stick to = thicker/smoother adhesive layer which will peel better and survive 50 wash cycles. If your colours turn out dull, press again at a higher temperature to active the sublimation ink. Sublimation ink activates at a higher temperature, but at the same time, 220C is way too high for DTF film. So you end up with this sticky mess that can't be peeled.
We want to try this again. People like you are leaving great tips, so maybe next time it will work perfectly. Kim killed our DTF printer so we might be trying it sooner than planned. LOL Thanks, Andrea! ~garrett
The problem is you cannot use a cricket easy press for DTF you have to have a heat press for the pressure. I know a lot of people like to use a bunch of hacks and clean they work but they just do not last. Which causes them to cheat their customers.
Please use caution when using sub printer. There is a film on the dtf film and as it feeds through printer it rubs off. I have had to clean roller wheels.
Stop using the circuit press. That doesn’t work. You need a clam press or swing away. Works every time. I tried the cricket press with the same results. Then used my clam press and it worked great.
It's not glue, its TPU powder, which stands for Thermoplastic Polyurethane, its literally a plastic. TPU is also used for phone cases & 3D printing. Just a flexible stretchable plastic that melts into the shirt. You can 3D print a design with TPU filament & heatpress it onto a shirt. 3DLifeOn UA-cam channel did this years ago.
I tried it just because, something to do besides my plastisol transfers I make. I used a grey shirt and it actually came out nice no distress at all. It looks no difference than plastisol. It's feels thick like a patch or vinyl. You'll get better results if you use a clamp heat press with heavy pressure. 380f 40sec. I shouldn't take more than a minute or two to cure the powder. When it turns from white back to the ink color it's done remove from heat and press. 👍
I think you might have over cooked it. 15 minutes seems long. I saw another video speak to this recently. I have tried this several times (385* for 40 sec, cool peel) and it worked great. You do have to do a second press after the peel to make the "plastic" feel go away. I had one not work, and I think it's because I over cooked the powder, too.
I love this channel, i have seen so many techniques before i found this channel last week that i would love to try but it is far too expensive to experiment and this is such a raw look at how things can and cant work, definitely helped me choose wisely - thank you
Wash it multiple times like a real person is going to do I.e. Not follow directions and see how each looks....wash it and video after 1 time, 3 times, 10 times, 25 times and see how they hold up. I'd be willing to bet that even after the first wash/dry they are faded. Hope not but I bet they are.
I found the butcher paper leaves a pink to cotton shirts so I just use regular part which meant paper it's white and clear it works so much better than the butcher paper
DTF Powder ? It's a hot melt powder made of polyurethane resin and ground into adhesive powder. How safe is it breathing the fumes it gives off when pressing? Can this polyurethane resin get into your lungs and damage them ?
This will never work because it's not sublimation. All you are doing is applying ground up glue powder to wet printer ink and then melting that glue into the ink. Then you're heating up the glue/ink again and pressing it into the shirt. It's sticking to the cotton because it's a mixture of ink and melted glue being heat pressed into the fibers. But that's the only reason. Can't call it a "sublimation hack" because the ink isn't being turned into a gas and dying the cotton fibers.
you cured it waaaayyyyy too long 25 sec under heat press at like 360 ..didnt watch the wole vid..also u can apply painters tape to the bottom of the film for the printer to accept it!..thats the only way..and it works flawlessly.
Lol did he say powder my inks? I don’t know why that is so funny to me but it is lol. Also, I have been trying to tape DTF film to paper and it is not working! I’m so going out to get some gorilla glue adhesive spray right now!
You may want to invest in a Business Class Heat Press, If you want to look serious, unless this is just a craft channel. anything less can and will affect your work.
Ur curing to long it only takes about 2 to 3 minutes at 385. Then 385 for 40 sec with a cool peek. The film is sometimes difficult to remove but u can remove it without reheating it.
Idk why but everytime yall try something new yall always mess it up llab it's so funny to me but it does work no issues I just did it with no errors gotta use that tape so it feeds into the printer tho
You are supposed to put the picture down, then the parchment paper, heat for 30 seconds, let cool. ● Reheat for 60 seconds. ● Let cool to touch then peel😁. Singer, Brenda Starr
I got a box of powder off Amazon with dtf paper I used 100% cotton shirt did 90 seconds at 325 degrees medium to heavy pressure then cool peal and then press again 20 seconds and it works for me perfect wish I knew how to share a photo
Sorry beautiful couple but you did the DTF all wrong , and the spray will wash out , DTF hot melt powder 190 c for 15 seconds with a heat press , let it cool and peel cold , you must melt the powder for 2 minutes in an oven made for DTF hot melt powder , or an old oven dedicated for the hot melt powder only , you can also use a normal inkjet printer with normal ink and hot melt powder , love you guys .
What do you guys do when you get pizza wheels on the image? I get this when using the dtf film … I just ordered another brand to see if it was the film. I don’t get pizza wheels when using ASub paper tho. Any suggestions??
It's a hack. Anyone who understands the chemistry and science of sublimation; understands that sublimation has zero hand to it, and it will NEVER wash out because it is a permanent part of the polyester fabric will 100% know this is a hack just like every other hack. I've been doing sublimation for over a dozen years. This is a fun trick. It's not a serious way to decorate a garment that is likely to be sold to a paying customer.
Your results differ completely from mine. I always do the dtf but cure it for 1 min at 260 degree in my small oven. Let it cool then i press 30 sec at 320 degrees with heavy pressure and the emd result is it looks like I bought it at the mall. This is a COLD peel!!
Dtf with sublimation on 100% white n light colors come out AWSOME!! I use epson ec 2800.. do not have to apply tape! Most epsons, set it to A4 matte premium.. make sure u read if it's a hot peel or cold peel!! If u have resistance! LET SIT N COOL!!
@@LorraineCastellon-Rowe there are a lot of things that you need an actual heat press for and I mean there are so many things I mean yes it's cute if you're making something simple or want to do some HTV or some light sublimation but it's not going to be as clear as it could be with the heat press for sure
I have dtf samples I’m trying out and found using easypress didn’t work so well not enough pressure. Also found for me 300 and 10 seconds didn’t wok. The instruction on one was hot peel which definitely didn’t work. Using my press I found higher temp (320-325) and med pressure worked

I was wondering about your cooking method. Seemed a little long, maybe if you cooked the ink a little shorter it would work better? OK that didn't make sense, I mean when you are curing the powder.
i recently bought a sawgrass easy subli sg 500 printer, 15x15 high pressure heat press & DTF Dryer Oven along with needed supplies & I am going to try it & see how it goes 🙏🤞🏼😂🥰
Thank you for all that you have taught me alot of us dont have the money to constantly try new hacks to make our small business grow you us know yes or no i appreciate the honest luv you guys thank you from NewYork city 😍
I just use regular old inkjet transfer on white shirts. I think people go the DTF route with printers that have five or more inks so they can use white and print on ANY color shirt. At least that's what I thought.

How was it after you washed the shirt?
@@ssmoothe2000 Exactly the same. I didn’t even follow the washing instructions.

do you add pressure?
And you have to heat after the peel to make the colors pop

The butcher paper is causing a barrier. Pet dtf film doesn't require a cover. But it was good to see the different try.

Could it be the adhesive you’re spraying on the carrier sheet is affecting it ? I’ve seen just masking tape being used and it works
You need to press again after pulling up the transfer sheet so it can absorb into the cotton. I think I have seen for 20 seconds.
The problem is you cannot use a cricket easy press for DTF you have to have a heat press for the pressure. I know a lot of people like to use a bunch of hacks and clean they work but they just do not last. Which causes them to cheat their customers.

I had the same issue, your image is over cured that's why it doesn't work. 2 minutes is ok to cure the powder, but 15 minutes is way too much
And you might have cured it too long... I use my heat gun for a max of a minute but I seen the heat press used for like 2 minutes max

I am looking for the same answer.
Me too! I am going to try a couple different films and see if that helps. I've tried every print settings under the sun with no luck.
Remove the top output wheels on the printer seems the only solution
get yourself an actual heat press for shirts
I just put a piece of tape on the back of the film so the printer can see it.. works fine
Does the sublimation spray still look good after washing?
I've used the Poly trick multiple times with sublimation and still looks great over a year later 😁
Great job. I love your channel and all your videos💕💕💋💋💎💎

From what I've heard, its a cold peel
