Well, I believe you have one of the best show in tells of Any and All video's doing the different sublimation on dark fabrics!!!!!!! You are straight to the point...thank you, for that, you gave the info without the chatter. Just saved me a boat load on where I'm headed...
I've been looking for someone to explain this method for a while and finally I found this video. Thank you for taking the time to do this video and teach us step by step.
That's awesome! I have used it before with great results. However, it is very thin and the dye migration is real on black fabric. ua-cam.com/video/8vVDJyb7lV0/v-deo.html
Great tutorial . Thanks for all the great information. Which one was the softest for wearing on a shirt but also had a great colour. I see that Easy subli had the best coverage but it looks really think and bulky. I have a shirt to make for Line Dancing on a Black shirt. I don't want it to be stiff. Thanks in advance for your help and will continue to watch your videos for more tips.
Thank you for your question. I would stay go with easy subli or flock. That being said, create your design so there is negative space. That helps with the feel and wearablity. You might also consider traditional DTF transfers - but again, with negative space. Any design that is a big block on top of HTV ill feel weird to wear.
Just FYI, get a small block of granite! Sample from a local store! place it on top of pressed item, pulls the heat out instantly! Also, how thick are each of these for comfort?
Great idea!!!! Thank you. So the glitter is the thickest, which I am not a fan of, is why I actually started with easy subli. The others just feel like regular HTV.
Not that I'm learning that you can't sublimate on black or cotton I'm thinking I went the wrong way with this t-shirt idea. Should I just look into vinyl? I want it green and gray soft and cool garden shirts.
It's a tough call to say. It depends on your designs. HTV will not give full color design options. You could always look into DTF transfers. They can be full color and can press on any type of material.
Regular HTV will not take sublimation ink. The HTV in this video are eithe made for sublimation or have enough polyester in them that sublimation works.
Sublimation will not show on dark fabrics. You would need some sort of HTV to carry the color. If you use a sublimation HTV like easysubli, you can just press a regular sublimation. If you want to use the hack, you can actually use a regular white HTV. The subli mask is a stick transfer tape that holds your design together. You would need that to make sure its lined up if you have negative space or little pieces in your design.
How do you layer the white and the clear without bubbles forming? Whenever I do this, the white goes down fine but the moment I press the clear, bubbles form
hmmm - I've never had that issue. HTV requires more pressure than sublimation. Try increasing that. Also, maybe your press is a little uneven? If pressure isn't the issue, try using a pressing pillow to distribute the pressure evenly.
sorry just 1 question so the easy subli gose on first its like the base right so when i go over with my print it'll stand out right? but what do i use to print on like that A-sub paper? i think thank you ahead of time
Yes, in this video I pressed the subli, then used sublimation paper and ink and press it onto the subli. A-sub paper is sublimation paper that will work for this. (sidenote - I have tried A LOT of papers, and A-sub tended to stick. Do some tests. If you get a lot of sticking, lower time and/or temp. Do some testing) Also, personally, I am not good at lining up, so I rarely press my subli first. I use the 2 step method. Here is a video: ua-cam.com/video/vg83_X76KVs/v-deo.htmlsi=wCsP8Z1PVaYzJfTV
thank you so much appreciate your reply and also can you tell me what 2 paper or materials i need for sublimation on black shirts please since there is lots of stuff out there it is confusing thanks
@@ggc1131 There are so many options. You could go with straight DTF transfers, that you would have to order from a printer. Or there is Siser DTV, which I really like. ua-cam.com/video/E_tM5lCYZvU/v-deo.html But if you want to stay with sublimation, you would need a sublimation printer, sublimation ink, and sublimation paper. (I REALLY like Crafting Besties brand) Then you would just need your preferred HTV to sublimate it onto. Oh, and of course for any of these methods you would need a heat press or easy press.
I wouldn't recommend regular flock its not made for sublimation is the reason,it gives a dull look and in the long run the colors starts to fade.i haven't tried any of the others other than easysubli
Easy subli is a sublimatable HTV. It is made to be printed on by Sawgrass printers. Some Epson users have had success printing directly on it as well. I am not one of those users. I do the 2 step method. Here is a basic overview of Siser EasySubli: ua-cam.com/video/Z8crriQklJg/v-deo.html Here is how to do the two step method: ua-cam.com/video/vg83_X76KVs/v-deo.html
Great video. Question for you: I have a navy blue 100% polyester trucker hat that I want to sublimate. Do you think if I make a light blue offset and press, you’ll be able to see? The area is so small I don’t want to use any hacks. I love how the glitter looks, but my SIL is not a glitter kinda guy. Any thoughts appreciated.
You can not sublimate onto regular white HTV. You can only sub on polyester, and white HTV doesn't contain any. However,...you can do the sublimation HTV HACK onto white HTV.
Its transparent HTV. Not sure what it would be used for aside from this. They also made actual transparent sublimation ready HTV as well. But I haven't tried it yet.
I was disappointed. I thought you would explain what the products were and how to use them. I'm new to sublimation and have no idea what flock, etc is so I don't know, and can't figure out, how it all worked. Maybe I'm just dumb but it doesn't teach me anything :(
She explained that these are all HTV (heat transfer vinyl) products. These normally have nothing to do with sublimation. She's simply showing how each can allow sublimation on dark fabric. HTV is normally used as vinyl designs on fabric alone. There are numerous types (as shown) depending on what your project needs or how you want it to look. A couple of these are made specifically to use for this exact reason, though. She did a great job in this video, showing how each works with sublimation. Typically, sublimation is done with sublimation ink, on sublimation paper, with a sublimation printer, and then applied to white or light colored, high polyester count fabrics or sublimation-ready blanks. There are tons of sublimation tutorials here on UA-cam if you want to learn about sublimation. That's not what this video was for.
I wholeheartedly agree, @missy3609! She didn't explain that the materials she did not need white HTV with were just white, some people might have noticed that some had to try and figure that out, and some might have just been confused, like you!!
Your thumbnail doesn't match your description. 5 ways to print on black isn't the same thing as 5 ways to sublimate. Sublimation is ONE type of print. So your video is actually "how to sublimate on a black shirt in 5 different ways". Very misleading
Direct to Garment printing and sublimation does print directly onto the 'correct' fabric. These are examples of combining crafts to achieve this outcome.

Omg yesss!!! If you've ever watched Jennifer Maker.... takes ages to get to the point!

So glad this was helpful
Loved the hack of the magnets on the heat press to hold the heat paper ❤ great idea. And thanks for the tutorial as well
I just caught that! That is a great idea!
Thanks so much 😊
I did sublimation on Siser Glow In the Dark with no white behind it. It turned out Great!!!
That's awesome! I have used it before with great results. However, it is very thin and the dye migration is real on black fabric.

thats what im trying to find! absolutely no one makes videos on doing a 1 step instead of a million steps
Super helpful video to see them all side by side! Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this! New subscriber here- just what I was looking for. I'm new to this & learning so this info helps!

I love the glitter. I have a bunch of that.
the glitter is so FANCY! I love it ;)
Just an fyi i save the carrier sheet and place it on the sublimation instead of the parchment paper to save on material..
Yes! :) Thank you.
Great for when pressing the, but with sublimation u want to change the top sheet every time so u don’t get any ink transfer

Hi . Thanks for this video. Sorry for my question. Im just wondering if i can just use a plain white htv first then my image on sub paper?
Regular HTV will not take sublimation ink. The HTV in this video are eithe made for sublimation or have enough polyester in them that sublimation works.
Great demo!!
I have 1 question, was the bandana you used poly cotton?
No, it was 100% cotton. It was just a cheap bandana from Walmart.
Great video and very informative 😊 thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
interesting the music drove me nuts-would like to see on other colors like teal or light brown! thanks
You would get the same results on other colors as well
Question !? Im new on all these I have the Sg500 if I want to sublimate on a dark color do I also need the Subli mask or just the easysubli HTV ? 😊

I wish it showed how these methods twist and stretch. I'm thinking of sublimating a name on a navy blue (with white anchors) baby blanket. 100% poly.
You will have the best 'stretchability' with the subli.
Can I see the glow in the dark actually glow when it's dark plz

This flock is not made for sub, correct. However, I have used it on other projects and I have not noticed significant wash out.
Hi glitter htv is that the clear one? Sorry new to this
The glitter htv is white. I have also used 'rainbow'. It is not clear.
Thank you!!!!
You are welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed this.
Can you use an adhesive spray
An adhesive spray to hold the sub paper on, as opposed to heat tape? Absolutely!
Is this white vinyl ?
These are all different 'sublimatable' HTV's. Each type is listed. Regular white HTV will not work for sublimation.
What is easy supli I am very new but I do love to suplimation

Won’t it work to just sublimate on the white HTV? Why use the clear?
It doesn't work well...turns out faded looking.
You can not sublimate onto regular white HTV. You can only sub on polyester, and white HTV doesn't contain any. However,...you can do the sublimation HTV HACK onto white HTV.
yes - not enough poly
What about white by itself, should have did that too

What about titanium dioxide?
I've never used it

She say its 25 washes... Y go through all yhis sublimation than ? Could have just print with clear htv with inkjet ? It is 25 washes too.
You are absolutely correct. There are so many ways to achieve this. However, I prefer the feel and vibrancy of the subli.
