You are very brave. Despite all warnings from the medias not to take ‘risk’ coming to China , you did it.I had
been to China a number of time. It is probably one of the safest place on earth. Over here you will see
friendly people, who want to take pictures with you, superb infrastructure, very conveniences to go around from
city to city. All of my western friends who made visits to China came back with extremely high praises on China, on every
aspect, such as friendliness of the people, the obvious and overt displays of happiness and satisfaction with
their lives, the amount of true freedom enjoyed by the people and last but not least, the food. Some of the more
outspoken western friends even adamantly condemned the lies in the reports in all of the western media.Have Fun.Bro.

The contents of your "highly nutritious and healthy" food bag reflected the kind of disinformation most Americans are fed with. Hello from Australia! I love your videos bro. Keep them coming :)
Glad you had a good time. As for food, you will easily find a lot of western food over there. McDonalds are everywhere. Kind of considered an upscale family restaurant (at least 25 years ago when i was over there- this may have changed). But you can easily find Chinese food that fits western tastes. For breakfast they'll do an egg wrapped in a tortilla that is just great. That is the usual fast food breakfast you find all over. Or go to 7-11. I so miss Chinese (and Japanese) 7-11s here in the US. They have the hot grab and go food there. You'll see these large white buns- they've got meat and stuff in them. Or some of them will have fresh made little breakfast sandwiches. Or sweet short grained rice wrapped in dry salted seaweed. Surprisingly good.
There are a ton of bakeries everywhere too. Be warned, anything that looks like a jelly donut is a Red-bean filled thing that you will not expect and turn you off on Chinese traditional deserts. But the rest is pretty good and very westernish.
Beyond that, Dim-Sum usually fits Western tastes pretty well. And standard boiled dumplings you'll find EVERYWHERE. Fried dumplings are great, along with pan fried buns.
If you live in a large city in the US you should be able to find a place called Din-Tai-Fung. Check it out. The line is long, but it they are famous for their stuff.
I think China is a country known for food poisoning. I have heard many stories and even people I knew came back sick. Plus Chinese food is not quite a popular taste
@@GL-iv4rw I lived over there for 5 years back in the 90s. The one and only time I got food poisoning was a time I went to McDonalds. And like I said above, it isn't hard to find food that fits a Western palate.
I also forgot to mention Fried Chicken is HUGE in China. KFC is pretty popular. You find a lot of Fried Chicken with street vendors. But if this is the first time visiting China, Street Vendors and night markets might be something to avoid. Very popular with tourists, but until your stomach adjusts I'll bet your friends that came back sick were eating there.
The kind of food Westerners will struggle with is Beef Noodles. The best stuff is extremely spicy and best eaten in the Winter to warm up. But those kind of places do not server any cold drinks, just hot green tea. I'm not big on spicy food, but when the weather goes cold you could always find me in this one particular beef noodle place...
@@MrTdg2112 I mean it is well known they do not quite grasp the concept of hygiene which makes me conclude to err on the side of caution when it comes to any food in general.

Hey Steve, glad you enjoyed your time in China. It is a place I have always wanted to visit, partly inspired by my study of martial arts back during my teens and 20s. Of course, this interest competed heavily with my ever growing interest and enthusiasm for playing guitar.
I can can understand touring taking a toll on your enjoyment of playing. I am fortunate to know some musicians in my area, a few of them are long time professionals and have toured with some major acts. They have mentioned from time to time that touring is a hard thing. So, I can only guess how much harder it is when you've lost the drive/enjoyment/hunger of playing music as well.
To this, I have a suggestion, or maybe and idea for you to consider....maybe something to explore and re-enjoy the love of playing, but in a more intimate way. (Not like that, get your mind out of the gutter. Ha!)
Ok, so this idea is kinda in 2 parts...
The idea is that the first part help cover for the second part in a couple of ways, which I think you will get as I explain it.
Ok, the first part is... how about a sponsored drum clinic tour,? But, it could be broken up, or down in segments in a given region for just a couple of weeks at a time. You could be in a particular region and do these clinic at a few cities over a couple of weeks, maybe a music stores who could host you..... It could also include jam sessions with some of the local musicians who would attend. I believe once George Lynch did a guitar clinic tour where he found other musicians to play the other instruments on 1 or two of his/Dokken songs instead of having other touring musicians with him. I seem to recall at least one video of a stellar performance by such people. Obviously, this does take a bit of a risk, but that is part of the point... to just jam with some musicians who love playing music, who would also love the chance to play a song or 2 with you, and probably would never get the chance to do it otherwise. I am sure you could find some sponsors for just such a type of tour. To give people more of a chance to prepare,, you could post a list of songs that would comprised the 'setlist' of songs people could choose from to play with you. It doesn't have to be super huge,, but a decent size list of varied songs, maybe include some of the ones people have seem in your videos, that they could take time to learn prior to your arrival. Then, at the event a few musicians get a chance to play 1 or 2 songs with you over the course of the clinic, or during a jam after your 'teaching' part of the clinic.
I think the thing for this part for you is, to do it in bursts of a couple of weeks at a time. That way you aren't being trapped in a major amount of time over months, playing these clinics week after week for 6 months. Just a couple of weeks, then a break fro a couple of weeks, etc... and you could play this however long you feel like sustaining it.
BUT, that's not all.... remember I said there was a 2nd part...and this is the part I think would make it the most fun for you while mattering the most. This part is meant to happen concurrently with the above clinic tour.
Ok, now for the fun stuff. This might require a little research on your part prior to arriving in each of the clinic cities. The idea is to find some open mic type gigs and show up to sit in and play there....maybe undercover/in disguise. This would be just for fun, hanging out, and playing musicians with other people/musicians who just want to have fun and play music.
I know it would be fun for people if you just showed up to sit in a play songs with them, throwing in the tricks you do I also think it would be a little fun for you as well.... being on the musical edge just sitting in with people playing songs. It would be an adventure with people of all skill levels playing a varied array of songs.
Of course, it could even be more fun if you were to do this UNDERCOVER/IN DISGUISE. You'd be sitting in playing some song, then all of a sudden, break into some tricks to see peoples' reactions, or if they even could guess it is you. or how long it takes for them to guess it is you. The whole point of for you just to have fun with music with who really love music, but you probably wouldn't get a chance to jam with otherwise, and it would be the same for them. To connect with other musicians over your mutual love of music. Of course, there can be all the usual musician joke bantered back and fourth.
"Hey, what did the drummer get on his IQ test?"
"DROOL!" ;-P
LOL....
This could also make for some interesting content for your channel. Maybe have someone who is willing to come along and video it for you... like bootleg undercover sessions or something.
The overall key is this should be about music and fun for you.. and the people you meet along the way.
This is just a crazy idea I had while watching your China vid after you talked to us.
If anything, maybe it will help inspire you with different ideas.... who knows. I hope you will be able to find something in it that you can use in one way or another, but not creepy like Blondie. Haha... see what I did there?
Anyway... thanks for sharing the China trip video with us. I, as with others I am sure, really enjoyed it.
I hope you recover from your jet lag soon.
Cheers,
Tim

I don't think that's a good idea because China is a country known for food poisoning. I have heard many stories and even people I knew came back sick. Plus Chinese food is not quite a popular taste
@@GL-iv4rw Couldn’t disagree more man! I’m a red-blooded American who loves a good burger or BBQ or whatever, and if you have a good guide you find the most amazing foods anywhere on the streets of China! I did frequent the bathroom a little more than usual the first week there, but beat the learning curve and then get out there with a translator and eat like an Emperor!
@@fretpound What about their hygiene practices?
@@GL-iv4rw Not as strictly enforced as the US, that’s true, but I never ran into a problem when I was there. They try to make everything as fresh as possible, so in some restaurants they had a practice of if you ordered fish they would bring a bucket with the live fish in it and show it to you, you would approve that that fish was ok for your meal and see that it is being killed and cooked right now!
Your concerns aren’t completely unwarranted, and I’m sure you could end up getting some food that left you running for the bathroom for the next day but I never encountered that problem, just had some of the best food of my entire life. And it really helped having a good interpreter with me at all times that I was comfortable with and trusted so I could be sure in advance that I wasn’t eating anything that was culturally weird to me! 😂
@@GL-iv4rw I don’t think they have like a health department that goes around and inspects but if they have anyone complaining about things not being fresh and good no one will come to that restaurant and they will be ruined so they break their backs to make sure you are happy with what you get.
What a cool stage. Wow
Welcome to China! We love our country as much as you do
Please come and understand the hospitality of the Chinese people for yourself, and do not believe the malicious reports in the media.
1:21 It's hilarious to see you take food to China. I guess many people would know that China has the richest food variety in the world.
Thats a great adventure
i would be so afraid to go to a country where i dont know their language
中国是一个安全的国家!不用冒险!来到我们中国就放松享受就好!西方媒体是抹黑!不是公平公正的报道!政治太黑暗!欢迎你来中国旅游!
