I am finding that a lot of people are trying to get away with what every they can.
its not about kids skating.
its about kids in gangs tormenting others and parents not wanting there own kids around so they
dump children at a park full of strangers that could quite easily snatch and molest them.
really this shit happens and the parents that allow it to should be f'en shot.
if the kids have there parents with them and the parents are taking the time to keep there
kids safe in an environment that could quite easily see them brake there necks or someone elses
I am all for it.
but from what I have seen this is only the minority of cases.
to be honest it just seems to me that parents could not give to shits about there kids and there presence
there alone an unminded is proof that they are not trying to live there best lives.
more like they are trying to forget about there responsibilities and not have to live there life.
hell even john has said in a few of his videos who do you belong to too a kid that looks under 8.
there is an organisation that was made in my country just for this kind of abuse.
its called child protective services.

I'm old AF and I try to be cool to everyone. Mostly the younger kids are way good. The only age thing I ever say is to keep skating because at 43 there's only 2 of us left of about a dozen.

I'm 45 and I still skate . Mostly ramp and bowl now at a indoor skate park I know the owners from year's again and can get in after hours . been skating 30 years ish . slowly giving up thou due to not many older skaters left.
It sucks because the scooter kids that are actually good get bullied and kicked out for riding a scooter

Whoa! Super funny. A buddy just told me he saw my name pop up in this review. John, you nailed it, that's exactly what went down. I was a little disappointed, just kind of sighed and turned around and kept it to myself, but dude wasn't having it. Honestly not the biggest deal in the world. I did get to go back to this park a few weeks ago and had a lot of fun there.

I’m 26 and I took up skating during COVID lockdown because I needed to exercise and the gyms were closed (the lockdown in Brisbane, Australia at its worst still allowed people to leave the house to exercise and essential stuff). I started out cruising around a lot before I touched a skate park, mainly because of horror stories like “If you do literally anything that makes you look like a noob people will judge you”. I discovered that, at the skateparks I went to at least, that it just wasn’t true. I made some great friends there and I mentioned how I’d been worried that if I did something like a mall grab people would laugh at me and guess what? A lot of the skaters I talked to didn’t even know what a mall grab was. I think that the skating culture, in America at least, sounds like a much meaner scene than in Australia. That’s not me saying it’s a bad scene, just that it sounds meaner specifically, and I might be wrong about that. Nobody made fun of me for wearing pads at the start, or not being able to do this or that. The worst I got was some people being pushy and trying to get me to drop in from a high ramp before I felt comfortable doing so. Mainly because they wanted me to progress though, so they meant well at least. Maybe I’m wrong about American skate parks, but I’m just letting you know how it sounds from a different perspective since there seems to be a constant discussion about toxic elements of skate parks on skating youtube (which is largely American) that I just haven’t seen present anywhere near the same degree in my city at least. Also there’s an older American guy (by older I mean over 30) at my skate park who constantly talks about how much more freedom to fail he has at Australian parks, like he can try stuff that he might not land and people don’t think less of him for it.
I’m from Melbourne and have a very similar story I took up skating during COVID and when I went to skateparks everyone just wanted to help and skaters and scooters got along very well I think it’s an American thing to hate on scooters but I’m not sure
I’ve had the same experience at my local park. We all get along with the scooter kids and to their credit, they’re actually pretty good. I approach people who are skating all the time on the street and never had anything but friendly interactions
I completely agree, when I started skating my friend got me in to it who is basically a 13 year old prodigy and everyone at the park was supportive and all cheered when I got a pop shuvit for the first time. I have run in to some people who make fun of me for not being good but most of the time everyone is really nice
Nah man I’m from Texas and parks are normally chill. I’ve seen douche bags at times, but overall most people don’t care... everyone starts somewhere and we all know skating isn’t easy.
i think its more the internet skate culture vs real skate culture, they seem to be seperate. ive seen so much bullying online over this and that and its usually just kids 13-17 being dicks online, none of the people that call others posers or diss you for mall grabbing would say shit to skaters in person. ive seen kids being bullys to other kids at parks sometimes but unlike on the internet one stern "hey cut it out kid nobody likes bullys" from anyone over 18 usually stops the bullshit right there lol as a skate dad ive had to do this a few times to scooter kids being dicks to my son but thats about it

I'm so happy that the locals at my Park aren't like that, when I first started skating there I was 12 years old and the only girl and only kid in my age skating at this Park but the older dudes were super nice, one of them even gave me new Decks and a Complete because my board was a cheap Walmart type board
I haven’t got my skateboard yet (it’s shipping to me) but I’m really happy for you. I’m most likely not going to go to a park for a while, but when I do I hope I meat someone like them (I’m a girl who’s getting a cheap Amazon board 😂).

Hey John, if you’re still in Colorado while reading this. There’s a really nice skate park in Aurora called wheel park. It has everything from an RC car track, to roller hockey, to 2 big skate parks. Im a Colorado native and I think it would be cool if one of the people I look up to checked it out. No need to make a video on it tho :))
For "not a transition" guy, John has decent flow in the bowls and snakeruns. But John has decent flow on most everything. My parents live in Charleston SC and I'm in ATL so will definitely be lingering in Columbia next time I make the drive to visit and he's got his park set up.

thats completely different. people pretend to be "gamers" anymore based JUST on sucking at actual sports. nobody ever applied a bandaid and started declaring themselves a "doctor", nobody professes to be a "chef" because they can make their own poptarts for breakfast, and you dont see people claiming to be marathon runners just because they went jogging once 4 months ago... but play farmville, candy crush, or the sims for 20 minutes one day and all the sudden people think they are "gamers".. youre NOT. these arent people claiming to be pro skaters either, they are just PEOPLE who are skating. to me it sounds more like a "locals only" mentality honestly (all 5 complaints are probably about the same douche), NOT someone trying to come off as more skilled.
theres nothing wrong with being a PERSON who plays video games, but you start calling yourself a "gamer" you better be able to throw down on multiple genres and NOT just fortnite or some bullshit. i had better not be able to turn my back to the screen and destroy you at any fighting games (happens more than you may think), beat you at racing games with one hand (..ditto), or land combos worth literally 50 times more than yours.. or you are just a poser. theres no reason to identify AS a "gamer" or "skater" for that matter outside of the professional sphere, just be a person doing something and most people are fine with it, its when you start bullshitting about being a "war hero", "gamer", or "gangster" that you are going to get your card pulled repeatedly because at that point you are LYING to people about what you are.

The worst people at my skatepark were a bunch of gang members, drug dealers, and the worst of it. Check out my skatepark it’s actually pretty sweet for it being in a super poor community.

I’ve been skating for a month now and I can ride pretty well it’s just when it comes to tricks I’m hella scared any tips?
i would way try to learn some basic transition tricks on small quarterpipes before going for actual flatground tricks. It helps you get very comfortable on your board, and along comes better flow and you eventually gain a better style than some1 who went for flatground tricks right away. The reason you're scared is because you're not comfortable on your board enough. Keep skating, it took me a year to learn kickflips. Remember it's not a competition, and you will get better with time, you just gotta put that work in. BTW, you listen to a lot of peep? I've been listening to peep for about two years now. You gonna have a lotta fun skating.
Get confortable rolling pushing w speed i would say and practice ollies standing still at first? Good luck
Honestly you just gotta commit and fall just to get that fear out of the way. That was my biggest thing holding me back. I’m 28 and stopped skating for 8 years. But definitely gotta get that first fall out of the way

And that's my advice bro just gotta keep pushing and if transition is option for ya I definitely say start working that first. That first drop in is a huge milestone. @@ericd8687 yeah bro! Earlier this year. Thanks to “The Nine Club” podcast and the experience they have as well both on UA-cam. And watching John has definitely pushed me getting back to getting a new set up. I was more a street skater but now I don’t wanna get hurt for work so I have been trying to learn transition more. Went from 51mm to 54mm and a 8.5 wide deck. But it’s so fun

It’s so true! I live up here in summit county and breck has the worst vibe out of all the parks around here.
The amount of people that still hate on scooters is insane to me, I get so much hate for just riding a peace of metal and people don’t even know who I am, they just purposely get in my way or call me names or challenge me. But I’m just having fun and I don’t let the haters get to me, just wish things were different and people weren’t so self centered and closed minded. Love these videos, thank you for bringing positivity into action sports ❤️

Literally when I went to the skatepark I saw this guy or kid who was scootering and I am still a beginner at skateboarding and I looked at him and he just looked so good and I was like i wanna look like that even if it’s in skateboarding. What I mean is scooters are actually cool when your good and your not one of those scooter kids who get in the way.

Damn, the last couple vidoes made me realize I need a Colorado-based skate channel to watch. I just love that state. Also I liked how you somehow got rid of the Cariuma logo on your shoes. I was one of the people criticizing some parts of how you reviewed the shoes but this showed to me that you probably weren't actually all about the money with them. Keep up the great work, the road leads to 1 million subscribers and I've been here since 60k subscribers or something like that back when I didn't think I would consistently watch every single video of you for years.

Man, I remember skating Breckenridge rec center park like 10 years ago, all metal ramps and rough ground. Glad to see they have upgraded since.
No way I was just in Breck the other week. Feels weird seeing you there haha. Check out the other parks in Denver if you get the chance! The Arvada skatepark is insane, the Fairplay one has a gnarly bowl if you’re into that, and the Denver skate park downtown is pretty cool when there’s not a million people there.
