I'm super happy you covered etiquette here. I'm bad with social interactions, so having an idea what to expect and what's expected of me is huge
Same I have social anxiety
Do burpees, NOW.
yoo you trans now hell yeah trans skating
yuckkk
I'm 25 and I've finally decided to actually learn to skate after years of being hesitant about it. Part of it was that as a kid but parents bought me cheap Walmart boards that were terrible to skate on so I never really felt confident about learning to drop in and learn tricks on the crappy boards. Now that I can buy my own board with quality parts, I am a lot more confident that I can make some good progress.
Ey me too! I'm 29 and have been skating on and off for almost a year now. It's therapy for me. Almost like, if my mind was like a bedroom and if backing out of a commitment is like leaving a piece of clothing on the floor, then I can say that when I practice the mindset of keep to my committed actions at the skatepark, then I'm cleaning up my mental bedroom.
It helps me clean myself up and put myself back together.
Dude sameee I’m 23 I started skating also I still haven’t Ollie yet but I’m definitely a lot more comfortable and confident on my board I try to skate on my days off for like 2-4 hours cause I have nothing else to do or until the sun goes down 😂
I feel y’all Im 27 and bought a board almost a month ago and started skating for the 1st time in 8 years! This morning was the first time I skated ramps and it def helps mentally its soothing
I remember when I first started in middle school I decided it would be a good idea to try and drop in off the quarter pipe. I kept my weight straight and ate it hard while my board torpedoed off. Thankfully I was alone when that happened, wish there were channels like this back then.
Super insightful, I appreciate a lot of the small nuances that were broken down. Very well explained and the editing made it a joy to watch. Awesome job, and thank you!
My mind is giving me a hard time being a beginner with 52 at a skatepark...but...my new life ever since I started a couple of month ago. Love it!!
Good point in going when the park is empty which is ideal, or at most a few people who are away from a particular area, so you can practice repeatedly the going back & forth. Hundreds of not thousands of reps is what should be your focus besides the obvious of getting things down “perfectly” before doing them around many others where they can be injured due to your lack of skill at the moment.
I needed this 30 years ago. Glad You covered this! ❤
The details in this really help me get past the mental blocks. Thank you!
Thanks guys for this video. This will be extremely helpful for my girlfriend’s 8 year old daughter, who just started skating parks beginning in April of this year.
Probaby the best introduction I have ever seen. Could not say it better!
Well done, bookmarked it as the 101 for beginners.
Thank you 👍🤙
I love this channel's videos. They transmit a very welcoming and encouraging vibe to beginners
I've spent some serious tim just getting down fakey from a small ramp at the park and have wiped out a few times just doing that. I'm 40 and I really want to be able to ride the bowl I'm not concerned with tricks just pumping and getting high on the walls to help my surfing. But concrete hurts much more than water. Skating is frickin hard
0:57 respect to this guy not fully blowing up and respectfully told the kid to move
Today I did my first well done ollie :D
I really enjoyed how you got everyone in the park involved in the video. Wholesome fun
Thank you, this is the best skate content I've come across!
Hello from Switzerland
I'm excited about you! Great post, great video¨
Thanks
Werner
This video is really helpful, thanks
this video is..immaculate.
I really appreciate your videos! Nicely explained and easy to follow step by step. Thanks 🤘
Thanks for checking it out!
dropping in is such a mental game
Thanks again for another great tutorial!
Happy new year to all tactics team.
Peace be with u.🙂
Have a wonderful New Year! Cheers! 🥂
Thanks, this video helped a lot!
This video is great for beginners (and a great reminder for everyone else 😉)
Thank you.
Very helpful, thank U.
best skate vid i could have erver imagent
Good Content, thx 👌
Brilliant thank you.
Balance board helped me a ton
Thanks for that good content
This helped a lot, I don't skate transition too much. I never knew there was 3 pumps when hitting a pocket or corner. Makes sense though
I'm going to the skatepark tomorrow thus helped me and gave me some pointers thank you😃
i went to one today and i went to the steepest bank and i ate shit and this helps a lot
Great video, thanks.
I tried drop in at few skateparks and its like me in your failed attempts cuts to drop in, i felt every single time.
Most scary is that first commitment, i cant get that snap, maybe i am just playing too safe at my 40.
I guess i’ll keep trying till i get that snap.
Good luck to all beginners like me.
Ey me too! I'm sure if you build up to it, the number 40 won't stop you at all.
With the transition just look where you want to go, look into the quarter pipe on the way up, and out of it on the way down, build it from the ground up. Turn your head, and do not look at the board until you're comfortable. Start low and work your way up. First few times just enter the transition really slowly and get used to the feeling of the board changing direction. You are not trying to hit the coping, you're just trying to leave the flat without falling.
Merci 😃
Wassup Tactics, cheers from Brazil 🇧🇷. I don't know if It helps, but I like to lift up my front trucks when I'm going to roll down a bank, its similar to dropping in but I'm moving. I can get a pretty good speed with that and the pump.
Thank you so much for this. A very well made and well edited tips & tuts
This is a good video!
Brilliant vid guys. I'm 39yo, and just bought myself a whole new setup after 25 years out of skating. I'll be able to keep up with my little girl on her bike, but I'm so fucking excited about just getting outside on the streets and also visiting a few parks. Fantastic insights on this one, thank you. I've been wanting to Drop In forever, now I'm going to give it a crack once again...!
Cool video 😊✌🏽✌🏽
ah, I wish we had such skateparks here in germany. we might have some like it, but not in my proximity :-/
anyway, I´m skating for 3 months now and I havent yet learned to drop in.
I´m on it though and from my limited experience, its nice to be able to drop in on banks first to get used to the feeling, the technique and develop muscle memory.
cant skate this weekend sadly, but next week I´ll drop in on a quarter for the first time. I´m hyped and a bit scared. think this is really important :-)
What helped me the most was to have someone holding my hands while learning. Also, don't forget to really shift your weight forward. Good luck!
Dude please brother inspire me to be a real genuine skater 🕸️🕷️👽😈❤️🔥💯
5:52 my local skate park!
informative。cool
I think Tim is going to do a shoe review on the FP Velocity.
Please keep doing healthy habit videos 🙌
These are great for first timers….
💜💜💜
Could you do a video like this about how to start grinding?
If you mean doing things like 50-50s I'd recommend you to start on a ledge. Just Ollie onto the edge of the ledge and make sure to lock up with your outer wheels. Try to grind a little more than the end of the thing you're grinding as to have some time to set up for the landing, which is the same as going down a curb. For grinds on transition just do an axle stall while approaching the coping at an angle and you'll be grinding without even noticing.
Hey! After about 2 years I started skating again, only I took a yamba skateboar, (with rubber wheels), Today I went to a small skatepark to deprive but I often fell down, also because it is for those who are better at skateboarding. I wanted to ask if it is possible to skate in skateparks even with my skate or do I have to have a skate with hard plastic wheels
Ok so at my skatepark all we have to pump or carve is a small-ish bowl and because it is so small it’s hard to carve without falling (for me obviously because I’ve seen some older kids shred and look awesome)
As a begginer just have fun in the park and make some friends while learning
Appreciate this. Also what park is that it looks dope ash!
Washington Jefferson Skatepark in Eugene, OR. 👍🛹
@@tacticsboardshop that’s a dream park right there
At 00:48 is that Juan and his camera man from ThatWasEpic on top of the ramp ?😂
Go up the banks at a small amount of a time then go the full length to get better at it
I somehow learned to drop in before learning to push for speed
Hey tactics can I have free wheels and bushings uhhh no right?
Bro who can dislike this video
That park looks awesome! Where is that?
That's the Washington-Jefferson skatepark in Eugene, OR. 🛹
Bruh I went to the skate park for the first time a month ago and they have a pump track and I don’t know how to pump but I remember how my cousin did it and bro I went though the first 4 thingys and it felt like I was gonna fall because I’m just going up and down fast it was a bit scary but fun then I decided to learn how to drop in😵
Is that jagger Eaton dropping in ? 0:48
I find most of the time people in line at crowded times either take way too much time inbetween people going OR they will go just 2 seconds right behind the next person guaranteeing some kind of interruption if the person in front fails their trick in any way... like lol is it that hard to find the appropriate middle ground
I went to my local park for the first time today; I saw an eight-year-old hitting an elf bar and a middle schooler with a chest tattoo
i suck at pumping/carving on transition...more tips?
It just takes practice. Also, it's easier with looser trucks. 👍 - Tim
oh wow, funny enough, i learned to drop in before i learned to pump haha.
How much should I charge tweens for weed or beer?
what kind of wheels do you have?
In the video I'm skating some REALLY worn down Bones STF wheels 😆 V3 shape I believe. I like them, but they're getting to be too small. Cheers! - Tim
What does a beginner board cost? And this is a very very help video, thanks!
you can get them used for dirt cheap mine cost like ten bucks from ebay
around $100 for a basic new complete set up. You can get cheaper amazon and Walmart ones too but they tend to be not worth it and make it harder the learn on.
@@crocketgsxr6 100 bucks is a top of the line board lmao
@@comicbookguy2326 top of the line is like 250-300 nowadays, ceramic bearings are expensive, decks are like $60 now, it all adds up quick.
Would u like to help me in making skat park in my local
the tennis dvs celsius are good and pretty?
Why do people dislike these videos? Like really?
I got a black eye right now from some jacket crashing into my face with a helmet . We both should’ve been more aware of our surroundings tho.
So if someone is trying to kick flip a 3 stair I should ask them if I can also try to kick flip it? That seems kinda corny tbh
It does seem pretty corny, but in reality it's really chill. Say the kid has been battling to do that kickflip down the 3 stair for a while, and then you go up and try it too, it creates an awkward tension where they're thinking about how he/she might get shown up. But if you go up to them and say "Hey, you mind if I try kickflip with you?" 99% of the time they'll be fine with it and it immediately alleviates the tension. So then if you land it first, he/she wont feel slighted. Of course this mostly applies to skaters who are around the same level. If there's a pro at the park just doing everything first try in a line, nobody's gonna feel too bad if they get shown up because that skater is just on another level. Anyway, sorry for replying with a novel. 😆 Have fun skating out there! 🛹✌ - Tim
0:22 little kids: "how about I do anyway"
Im so scared to drop in idk why but like its so scary
What park is this
That's Washington Jefferson Skatepark in Eugene, Oregon. It's about 2 blocks from our skate shop! 👍
And always keep your head on a swivel and pay attention to your surroundings.
Another big one, DONT LITER or leave your trash anywhere but a trash can
Bruhh just as im learning my ollie and acctually getting really high ollie my truck break
Eugene??
More about pumping.
Pleace in spanish
I love how you say 'just common sense' like kids know what that is these days 🤣
Yeah these kids man
i wish i saw this 4 hrs earlier, just cameback from hospital, rolled ankle becuz i rode off the bank in a wrong way
dont ask me how, i dont know either, at least when im back ill know how to not kill myself :)
Oh dang!!! Heal up soon! 🤕🙏🛹💚 - Tim
Not just by law, but wearing protection can be helpful.
Like wearing a HELMET, knee pads, elbow pads, gloves & other safety items might help.
It's not junk safety, but it's the LAW!!
And that's how I broke my wrist last week 😑
can i pick up someone elses board and throw it? lol
1:00 no way bros telling little kids where to skate like that smh
Snake everyone and skate like you own the place. If anyone says anything show them up by landing every trick they try. Listen to only your music loud and disrespectful. Smoke and drink and don’t throw away anything. Spit loogies everywhere. When someone lands a tricks don’t yeah them do a better trick to get everyone’s attention. Leave and don’t say bye and tell the youngest kid he can be like you someday.
Boaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaard
I'm sorry but asking another skater if I can do the trick that he or she just tried .... And that it's rude to show them up ??? Are you serious ... That is along the same line as we are all winners and everybody gets a trophy... Sorry not gonna happen with me or either of my 2 kids ..if a skater gets upset because you just showed him or her up on the trick they couldn't land... Well tough shit.. practice more , and skate better and you won't get showed up and get your little feelings hurt
Skaters are slow to rise? You calling us lazy?!
slipping out is the worst. they forgot to mention no motorized things and no baby s . dont bring your under 2 year olds, they can get seriously injured. also ITS NOT A PLAYGROUND. keep your soccer ball at home
That’s not good to show off the trick that someone is working on. And snaking is not good either
