You can see it's busted power in Sonic 3 in her Hyper Form (excluding the walls that blocks you to go to Knuckles' route, it can destroy everything else, and also can help you to make the Death Egg boss that needs you to play with the gravity a joke as it cannot deal with a barrage of hammers you can throw, also just like Tails, Amy cannot go to Doomsday Zone... but outside Debug Mode shenanigans, you can use her in the Time Trial mode in said stage.
I like how you missed out on the coolest thing about Amy by assuming she had no Hyper form, and therefore decided to not get the Super Emeralds. VERY cool of you, Choc.

I like how Amy is basically tailor made to destroy bosses since half of them can be cheesed with the hammer attack. Hell, she makes sonic 2 death egg easy
She was probably made to be a easy mode character. Like Sonic is normal. Tails and Amy easy.

Gotta love having extended attack range in games not really designed around it, huh? As it is even Sonic 3 allowed cheeses on some bosses from the very beginning because of the combination of s and attack range that the instashield had!
Basically the opposite of Knuckles. She's easy mode, he's hard mode with the lower jump.

31:49 I know someone else said this, but Hidden Palace was scrapped due to time constraints and was meant to have two acts. You were supposed to teleport there once you got all of the chaos emeralds and when you finished, you'd get a cutscene showing Sonic transforming into Super Sonic, and then you'd unlock him.
Amy's the first female character to have a Super/Hyper Form (Blaze has her own counterpart with Burning Blaze and with her dimension's counterparts of the Chaos Emeralds, the Sol Emeralds).
I still think Blaze should count for the first one.
And we're also being restrictive, as fandoms do for some unspoken reason when the Comics and Games don't share an identical universe, right? I mean by the standard it has to be chaos induced, Overclocked Nicole doesn't fill the quota but I'm certain if you dig far enough it'd be in there, chronologically speaking.
I'd love more burning form wielders. Maybe even a blaze 06 feline trio.
What is Sol Emeralds?
@@berthsea9870 I recommend playing Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure, for the DS, they're good if you like Sonic games.
In them, due to Alternate Parallel Universes having Similar yet Different objects, Chaos Emeralds (Brilliant Cut) were replaced with Sol Emeralds (Emerald Cut) [Cut is the shape of the gem, Brilliant Cut is usually how Diamonds are depicted, Emerald Cut are rectangular gems].
The difference being that Chaos Emeralds use Hopes and Dreams to become Infinitely Powerful, where Sol Emeralds use the element of Fire (thusly their name Sol = Sun) because Blaze is a Pyrokinetic. They're custom tailored to Blaze because the gems aren't just Fair Game in her universe (Chaos Emeralds hiding away in Special Zones that anybody can hunt for), they're SPECIFICALLY hers (under her supervision, they even come with a little gem case!)
Although they still act like Chaos Emeralds in that they'll gladly ruin the Space Time Continuum just because they feel like it.
They really went above and beyond in making Amy feel like she always belonged.
Too bad her moveset is just a slightly modified version of Sonic

@@diiigitz I don't know, she feels really unique if you play to her movesets. She very well can be played exactly like Sonic since she's a speed character, but it's all in what the user does since she's also kind of a power character like Knuckles

Hidden Palace Zone was scrapped due to time constraints. A good amount of the zone was done before being scrapped. You can actually play a bit of it in one of Sonic 2's beta builds.
Yeah, Sonic 2 was supposed to be the “time travel game” but due to time constraints they decided to use the idea in CD. So lots of zones were scrapped, it’s very interesting.
@@mober7430 Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that. There’s another scraped zone called “Wood Zone”, which was supposed to be a past version of “Metropolis Zone”.
You would also get super sonic there as when getting all 7 emeralds you would go there to get your super form

3:48 if you move to the right as soon as the special stage starts and then you immediately hold left you can get right into the middle and it’s possible to complete it in 6 seconds. I’ve done it before but it’s hard to pull off. I always thought special stage 3 was the hardest one in sonic 1

HIGHLY recommend taking time to sit down and read the IDW Sonic comics. Not only are they great (Scrapnik Island especially, it's SO good, Tails is peak and Mecha Sonic is how everyone always envisioned him, and the cheeky OVA references too), but they're OFFICIALLY CANON to the main games too, practically a benchmark for any Sonic fan now. Any of your lesser-seen favorites like Cream, Blaze, the Chaotix, Metal and even Mecha Sonic, everyone gets time to shine here and we can see what they've been up to.
This has been my contribution to the algorithm. Maybe one day you'll get your Good Future, Choctopus.
I got a good share of fun using Amy... ESPECIALLY in Sonic 3 once you get the 14 Emeralds because of her Hyper Form perk... hammer barrage time!!! (literally).
Edit: That Death Egg boss in Sonic 3 (the one were you need to use the gravity device warps to hit the boss) is a complete joke for Amy in her Hyper Form, I just pull out a "Hammer barrage goes *brrrrrrrr*", because NOT even the Super Flickies from Hyper Tails can hit it.
Its okay for not getting the time stones as Amy, think of it as a time paradox if Amy didn't get herself kidnapped by Metal Sonic. This could be her perspective on the classic series
In the Sonic 1 special stages, if you get on the circle labeled “R”, the stage rotates in another direction! Hope this helps!

Also, I think Scrap Brain act 3 is supposed to show the devastation that Eggman’s done to the environment. why they used labyrinth specifically was probably to make us suffer.
Eggman built Scrap Brain on top of the island ruins (Labyrinth Zone) The pollution he's causing turned the water pink like in Sonic 2's Chemical Plant.

I'm glad to see that at least you're enjoying Origins. I got the game a few days ago and am trying to get my computer to work so it can run powerful enough to run the game. I've never played the Genesis trilogy before and I feel like those are games I need to play before I look into the Sonic series more.
Those moments where it zooms in on specific parts and the camera is moved in just the right ways so it doesnt move with amy are really good, nice job Catastrofy_ and Triqee!
Choc, the reason SBZ act 3 is labyrinth zone is because Robotnik basically built on top of the ruins, not caring about the land whatsoever, since all he wanted to make was eggmanland.

There's, like, eight checkpoints in Emerald Hill Zone (3 in Act 1, 5 in Act 2), so it's entirely possible to have a Super form for every boss in the game, especially with Origins' coins that let you retry the special stages.
Every boss *except* Mecha Mk. II and Death Egg Robot for the people who actually think *every* S2 boss.
@@pacifistichuman82649 You can use Debug mode to spawn 50 rings or a Super Monitor into the Death Egg Zone.

You can change the emeral count to 7 in the level select menu on Sonic 1 by pressing up, down, left, right at the title screen to achieve super form. You can change shields to Sonic 3 elemental shields as well.

The Scrap Brain Act 3 thing is probably due to the Japanese manuals story. It mentions that that South Island is rich with gems and minerals and the Chaos Emeralds are hidden there. Eggman mentions he will dig up the whole island if he has to. So Labyrinth Zone being under the base is probably due to his strip mining the island to find the Chaos Emeralds.
I didn't know Choc was going to run through the Sonic classics again! Good stuff! These were some of my favorite games as a kid! These games cemented my love of video games at an early age. The inclusion of Amy is great! I just think it would have been hilarious if in Sonic CD you would see Sonic get kidnapped if playing as Amy. 😄
The sheer magnitude of the fact that Sega let Amy have a super form makes me so hopeful for the future!

I don't know if this was a reference but at 8:22 Choc says "This is where dreams come true." I think this might be a reference to Masato Nakamura,the composer for Sonic 1 ans Sonic 2 and he was part of the band "Dreams come true".

Sonic for me was also a day one homie. The Nintendo DS was my first gaming system and with it I got the sonic classic collection of course I would never make it past stage maybe 3 when I was little but man I had so much fun. Recently I rediscovered it and decided to play through all them again like you did and ended up finding my love for the sonic franchise again.

The bit that always scared me as a kid was the part in Hill Top zone when the floor would start moving up and the lava would rise to crush you if you wasn't quick enough.
Lorewise, the Labyrinth Zone was the sewer system that the city for Star Light and the factory for Scrap Brain was built on top of. So the final zone's lab having Scrap Brain 3 being a Labyrinth re-palette'd sort of makes sense. This also assumes that the South Island map shown in Sonic 1 for Game Gear/Master System is the correct map.

It is technically possible to get the 7th emerald in Sonic 1. Enter the level select cheat code and the option to toggle it is right there. It even carries over to the full 'story mode' thing and adventure mode

Sonic spinball on the gamecube was my all time favorite sonic game. Still is to this day. Boutta bust out the mega collection and have a blast!

The reason scrap brain act 3 is just Labyrinth zone act 4 is because the idea was eggman was supposed to drop you into the underground depths of the scrap brain zone. It was even supposed to have its own custom textures for the level, but they ran out of time, so they used Labyrinth textures instead.

9:46 the lore is that labrinth zone is beneath scrap brain, which means that labrinth zone (or some of it) is under scrap brain and eggman knew that to screw over the player

I think the lore for scrap act 3 is that Eggman built the scrap brain on top of labyrinth to use the water/crystals for his machines, and the act is labyrinth after being stripped if everything and polluted by Eggman

The way you do the sonic 1 special stages is that you can cling into the walls, hit the down circles to speed down the rotation and as long you are clinging to the walls you can jump, once you know that, they are easy and fun.
My favorite zone is quartz quadrant, simply a beautyfull place with amazing music, stardust speedway is the 2nd place.
the skateboard part in icecap and doomday zone is only for sonic also amy does in fact have a hyper form which allows her to throw her hammer

Supposedly, Scrap Brain Zone Act 3 was going to be in the zone's underbelly, like the waste dump/sewers. So it was going to have water. But they didn't have time to finish it and had to use the Labyrinth tileset instead.

I’m pretty sure Hidden palace was originally where you would go to unlock super sonic after getting all the emeralds. You’d beat the stage and then unlock it, but they decided to scrap it a bit into development.
I can’t remember if that was confirmed though. It may just be a theory (though there is stuff to suggest it might be real)

Btw, Hyper Amy is a thing in Sonic 3, and it’s mislabeled as Super Amy. She can throw infinite hammers by pressing a certain button

i agree with your intro stage statement. heres my ranking: 5th emerald hill, 4th palmtree panic, 3rd green hill, 2nd angel island, 1st mushroom hill.
Sonic Origins seems to think that Amy is Tails, which is a odd bug. This is why the game doesn’t tell you that she has a super form with the normal emeralds, and says she goes “super” with the super emeralds.
The IDW comics are amazing 🤩 definitely worth picking the hardback collection volumes!

so hidden palace zone was never meant to have a boss, it was a level you where taken to after collecting all of the chaos emeralds, but due to time constraints the only thing in the final game (mega dive version) is the song, it was added back in the mobile version with a new boss and new level design
Fastest I have ever gotten super in S3nK is hydrocity act 2. Im pretty sure you can do it faster if you back track through other paths. There are seven big rings in Mushroom hill zone, but to get them all requires some back tracking.
