Ghurs reaction to the chaos invasion, kind of reminds me to how the Argonians reacted to the Oblivion crises. Rather then being invaded by the realm of Oblivion, the Argonians invaded IT.
this is were my Khorne forces are from, the leader wants the skull of a godbeast, the best skull around for Khorne's throne, & believes thats the only skull he would need for his ascension
Everyone outside Ghur: "Everything there has low intelligence, we should easily conquer it. Let's go!". Everyone native to Ghur: "Wasn't very intelligent of you to come here either. Feeding time!". 😃
I love the idea of ghur not because of the orcs but how it's seems like chaotic without being chaos I always imagined it being like the bad lands in fantasy battles which pretty awesome.
Im gonna be honest considering how both warhammer fantasy and 40k had roleplaying games (40k had like 4) eventually age of sigmar will get one only a matter of time, this place would be the best place for a Conan the Barbarian style campaign.
As far as modeling/painting goes, the whole realms thing is excellent. "What does X army look like if it's from Y realm" opens up a whole lot of creativity.
After watching this video, I have some great ideas for a Stormcast faction in this realm. It could be that they were mercenaries, making a living by braving the wilds to slay beasts for food that less powerful villages would pay for either with coin or tribute of goods. As Stormcasts, now they hunt to make provide food for their large roving city--their keep--and keep all manner of threats, be it Chaos or greenskinz from consuming their city.
The Knights Excelsior (I love my Stormhost :) ) hail from Ghur. And they've built a massive Stormkeep, Excelsis, around one of the Realmgates there. They haven't truly conquered the land, but they hold their little piece of it.
One of the things we learn in the novels is that Ghur is poor in metals, instead the freeguild militia uses spider webs from some spiders, think of it something like kevlar.
Is there any mention of the Flora in Ghur? I would imagine it would have to be quite unique given that everything is always in flux. The usual Desert type plants tend to be slow growing and have natural defenses to avoid being picked clean by their predators, but slow doesn't seem like something that could work here.
Plants that stay where they are as the world moves around them. Although every climate can be found in every realm, so there’s far more than badlands in Ghur.
I imagine that some kind of creative use of the Dreadsaurian model and Dread Maw could be included in some kind Ghur scenario. Maybe not as an army piece, but if you want to do a fight in Ghur, and you want some terrain based hazards, having some kind of setup where a huge ground-burrowing worm eats five of yours guys could be kinda fun.
Ghur is one of my favorite realms. Currently trying to figure out the right way of basing my autumn themed Sylvaneth army to fit in with Ghur and the lush forested area they inhabit. Probably will be combining the bracken and skull kits
I have been watching a few of your videos. You are producing great content. I have recently decided to start an AoS army and you are really helping me get a great overview of the lore. I have decided that my Slaves to Darkness will be from Ghur.
By the way I got a killer deal thru a local store bc we traded some work for the army, when I make an online purchase I will make sure you get a cut bro your my favorite and a true inspiration for me thank you for all your dedication and effort AOS wouldn’t be the same without your imprint
There is a story set within Ghur, its one of the Legends of the Age of Sigmar ones, Skaven Pestilens. And in that there is a city with one of the greatest libraries thats on the back of a giant worm that travels the plains
I think free peoples of Ghur would be very akin to Orcs sort of like the Wulfen in 40k minus power armor.. I think they'd have a very beastly aspect to them or at least be very Viking like and less Native American like.. Very warlike, very brutal, and very strong.. Or they could just be cavemen...
I think they would be like Norsca from TW:W, fast with low armor and hart hiting with got options against large enemys and singel units, a few monster units of their own but with a bit less melee focuse.
@@jaratt85 I recommend to check out the Monster Hunter then. It's a great game and Ghur has a monster hunter vibes for me, so you will get what it's look like. To hunt something that is bigger than your house, kill it, carve it's tail out and use it to create a big sword-club to beat the shit out of another monster who is even bigger, so you will carve his ass to make yourself a pair of new shoes... I can go on forever. One of the best game on the market for ages now.
Oh no my conversion secret source has been revealed! Space Wolves have amazing bits for converting Stormcast. Maybe I’ll share some photos in an email soon.
For me, I combined Tilea and the Border Princes to make a strong kingdom that started off as several city states and tribes but unified in the Age of Chaos. When the reconquest happened, they for a nation that was doing rather well.
Getting into AoS, trying to choose a faction and LOVING your lore videos! One of my top options is Beasts of Chaos (minotaurs. End of debate) After this video I am wondering: "how on earth are they a Chaos faction and not Destruction?" They ARE Gur personified. Any thoughts?
Do you think there could be some lush Jungles in Ghur? Plants and animals consuming each other making the Jungles an extremely deadly place. I say this because I have a Darkling covens army with a Jungle theme to their bases that i'm struggling to find an associated realm for. I was thinking Ghur could make a lot of sense if i flesh it out some more.
Ill be placing my OC seraphon in both the realm of Beasts and Life. My Star Seer/Priest is powerful with the magic if beasts and has tamed a Thunderlizard from the Dragon Isles (based off of Bajadasaurus pronuspinax, making Dragon Isle TLs smaller but far more lethal and defensive than their Lustrian cousins that were) before the World that was perished. My OC Oldblood will be positioned in the Realm of Life with his legions as the spawning pools that were brought with him produce armies immune to all but the most powerful diseases/pestilence/plague/etc I love the idea of Twin Cities in these realms, I feel they compliment each other well and offer so much for Seraphon in particular. My idea is my Priest/seer and their floating temple city is positioned near the ghur realm gate protecting it from Chaos but not outright controlling it. Your vids def help, any suggestions are welcome! Thanks for all your time and effort you put into your videos!
So for Soul Wars, I want to theme my armies from two realms. For the Sacrosanct, I'm thinking Ghur or Hysh. For the Nighthaunt, I think I might to do Ulgu. Any conversion or background ideas? I think I will use the Space Wolf heads for the Stormcast, my friend plays them. For the Stormcast background in Ghur, I'm thinking that maybe they are always at odds with the realm, building fortresses and actively fighting the realm. Or maybe, I'll expand the army with Vanguard stuff to increase the mobility aspect/
Hey bro so do u have any suggestions on how to make the most of my army with the three boxes and drummer I have ? Like what else to fill it out etc... thanks again
Hey bro just an update on my army I pulled the trigger and bought the complete soul wars package, the start collecting Malignant box and the start collecting Skeleton Horde box, and a four pack of the glaive wraith stalkers (for the drummer) . Any suggestions on how to make the most use of these guys ? I want to play with Nagash (buying him in two weeks) theme, I picked up the soul wars box for the value not interested in the eternal souls at the moment .
Why did you cut this series off at only the 3rd of the 8 realms? I definitely want to know more about Azyr, Hysh, Ghyran and Ulgu. I mean, I feel like your videos about Shadowspire filled me in on Shyish, but the other 4 I want to know about-- especially how you might theme armies about being from Azyr and Hysh as they feel the most generic.
Ive made Kharadron Overlords Skyhold named Barak Mindul in the Realm and their main money maker is Pelts, Food and Bones which is how they make a lot of their money. Their sky captains act like theyre straight out of moby dick except its with things like dragons, Giant monsters and other cool beasties for my Duardin to hunt from their ships with big harpoons to limit damage to the valuable pelt.
The ultimate crossover ever: At the center of the realm of Ghur exists a creature, a thing... No one knows where it came from, who built it, or birthed it. No one can fathom it's true power or intended purpose. It is ever hungry, and... quite vocal about it. I seems to crave knowledge and this... television thing.. And it likes to sing to itself.. It seems to have advanced intelligence, at times, but at others is so incredibly stupid that... I'm sorry sir! Please don't eat me... ARRRRRRRRRGHH!!!!!! ...."doobie doobie do, doobie dooobie doo doo doo, doobie. I'm HUNGRY! Give me meat! Give me cookies! Doobie doo doo doobie doo doo! GIVE GIR COOKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Doobie doo doo doo doobie do.." LOL that'd be hysterical if someone made that an animated thing.. The Orcs cowered and controlled by Gir. The little defective robot from Invader Zim... Oh to make that and play it at a GW event... Everyone would lose their collective shit..
I could actually see Horticilus Slimux in trubble in This realm. To start, maintain and expand a garden of Nurgle in ghur would be a tough feat for sure.. But if it is the law of Darwin on crack and the bigger Dog eat dog Big beasts World. Then who could Papa Nurgle then send ??? I Can only see One , even tho it might be overkill, But if streangth is What rules? Tamurkhan and Bubebolos it is.
Probably the border between Hyish the Realm of Light and Ulgu the Realm of Shadows where he/she/it is being held captive. Narratively they are setting up a big Elves vs Slaanesh event. Hopefully we will get to see Malerion's and Tyrion's factions come into play given the fact there has been no mention of what they have done with their halves of the elf souls from Slaanesh's belly.
"To live in Ghur is to enter into a new food chain. And here's the thing. I can promise you're not at the top of it." Best line ever.
Ghurs reaction to the chaos invasion, kind of reminds me to how the Argonians reacted to the Oblivion crises. Rather then being invaded by the realm of Oblivion, the Argonians invaded IT.
Love it :) Elder Scrolls shaped my fantasy world, good analogy :)
2+Tough Thank you : 3
Ghur is basically Australia but with more greenskins
who says we don't have green skins here
Isn’t that Australia already?
Greenskins are just footy fans
Ghur: The Age of Chaos? Oh you mean Tuesday.
Age of Chaos:
Azyr: AfK
The other Realms: We are doomed!
Ghur: *Fresh Meat!*

Aren't the Orcs fundamentally all about being chaotic without being Chaos? Seems like the concepts are spun together quite well.
Im gonna be honest considering how both warhammer fantasy and 40k had roleplaying games (40k had like 4) eventually age of sigmar will get one only a matter of time, this place would be the best place for a Conan the Barbarian style campaign.

I just imagine a faction of humans or orcs based on the videogame Monster Hunter.
That would be amazing and fit Ghur like a glove.
I like it! :)
With the new Beastmen battletome coming out, I’m super excited to implement these ideas and explore this realm.
Oh yea, Ghur Beasts of Chaos is goign to be amazing looking

Hmn, thats a really interesting one! Share some pics with me on Facebook when you dive into it ;)
2+Tough I'll be sure to, when I eventually get around to it
Perhaps driftwood/sunbleached bark. And then either dead leaves, or snip the leaves and replace them with clusters of evergreen and cactus?

Guess you could say that the realm of ghur is the evolution personified. Everything is changing in order to survive.
There is a story set within Ghur, its one of the Legends of the Age of Sigmar ones, Skaven Pestilens. And in that there is a city with one of the greatest libraries thats on the back of a giant worm that travels the plains
Ghur reminds me of the African plains or the Australian outback lol. Straight wild and untamed.

In my opinion they are like Warhammer fantasy Kurgans but don't belived in chaose gods.
I think they would be like Norsca from TW:W, fast with low armor and hart hiting with got options against large enemys and singel units, a few monster units of their own but with a bit less melee focuse.
