Is this covered under recall or just maintenence cost? How much should I expect a shop charge for this?
My satafe 2013 sport I have replaced all 2 shock absorbers with new genuine bearings and brackets, along with a new steering system and all the brackets and tie rod rubbers but the problem is not solved, when I sit in the car and turn the steering wheel in one place there is a cracking sound, but I just need to jack up the front of the car 1mm and the noise is gone.
My 2019 i30 Fastback N developed these noises after a year and i have been in and out of the shop for the last 2 1/2 years....really gets on my nerves because the sound develops almost immediately after i pick up the car and they already changed the entire suspension.
What's the best way to prolong the life of these? Silicone lubrication?
Parking your car in a garage would be a great start IMHO. Another is checking them regularly (like at each oil change). If one develops play it will lead to premature wear on the other components, not to mention a potential for accelerated wear on your tires.
WD40 soak down reduced my noise by 75%! Happy to return [2017 Elantra Limited] lower ball joint Hyundai (54530-F2100) to Amazon and other tools..... remove tire[s] in snyc of opening the hood......WD40 from top strut bolt and work your way down to lower ball joint.... it worked for me.. :) (Don't kill yourself installing parts)..
