Don’t ever park in a car park. Always try to park away from people. Unfortunately to many fat people who can’t open their car doors without it going all the way open
Take a bottle of soapy water and spray it on the scratch and wipe over it, and if it temporarily disappears this will work, but if it does not disappear it will not work.
Well Done! It really helped me plan out the fix on my Toyota 4Runner; just purchased a week ago and SOMEHOW I have a serious scratch on my hood. I just received a new buffer from Amazon and this helps me know how to use it. Thanks!
Glad this helped and thanks for the feedback for future videos! Welcome to the channel my friend and I hope your 4Runner is looking nice and fresh now!

Great video, thank you for sharing the entire process and how easy it is. My daughter has some deep scratches that she needs fixed and I’ve been tasked to figure it out. This will help for sure
I hate these little scratches from tiny rocks and road debrees. Or even worse!!!… a shopping cart! Right now I don’t have any major scratches on the car so I don’t need to fix anything. Come to think of it, Lexus actually has a very good paint quality. As long as you don’t get in an accident or have something that caused a major scratch, the paint quality is superb!
Great video! I'm a Maguires fan but like you suggested the residue is a pain in the tush to clean off. I'm going to give the Turtle Wax a shot on my dark blue Lexus RX350. Thanks for the tips!
Hmmmm, I watched your video in slow motion and I’m calling it bull. The scratch was removed after putting the compound on the car. I have been doing this for years and if your finger stops when moving your finger nail across the scratch, you won’t be able to remove it. You can minimize it but not remove it. So your magic compound should get rid of all rock chips… I don’t think so.
Yeah this is bull. You were correcting a paint transfer, not a true scratch. Easy even by hand. I have never been able to remove deeper scratches by polishing. Even some wet sanding may not remove it.@@carswithsonduren
Well, it's worth a try since my brand new Ruby Red F150 suffered a nasty parking lot scratch (keys? cart?) parked as usual in the north 40, day hike area, with nary another vehicle or shopping cart nearby. I need a couple new buffs for my DA and a few odd hours, so off to the store......... or Amazon
If it’s not too deep this should work for you! Goodluck! Worst case it will help significantly minimize the scratch, but ideally have it fixed to like new :)
Nice video! I have a black Ford cmax in my turo fleet and have noticed a crap ton of scratches all over and it once was a beautiful car but needs some serious intervention. Hoping your video can help! Hate spending hundreds at a body shop for something not too hard that can be done yourself 👌
Can you do this on a ceramic coated car without compromising it, or is there an specific product to use for cars with ceramic coating with scratches etc?
Thank you so much for this video !! A miracle product. I have one question though ..... how do I clean the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solution from my Orange Polishing Pad when I am finished? Thanks again !!!
My Corvette has a ceramic coat that is about 3 years old when the car was new. I have a couple light scratches on the hatch area. Could this product be used over the ceramic coat?
@@carswithsonduren Thanks for the quick response! Love your detailing tips. I found your channel researching the new Lyric. I had made a reservation for the all-wheel drive version about the time you did.
@@carswithsonduren Thanks! Hopefully, the AWD will be available by summer. I am going to go with the gray shown on the demo models. Are you going to stay will black? I live in southeast US and it is too hot here for black on black vehicles. IMHO anyway. I try to stay with light color interiors. My C7 is blue with a gray interior. My Lexus RX is silver with a light gray interior.
First time machine compounding here. For light cutting, scratches in black finish similar to this vid, buy the Griot or Lake Country orange 5" pads? Anything else needed for a second step?
Can you do the whole car with this compound and your recommended pads (even the panels without scratches)? I have a scratch from sponge grit by a valeter and they made swirls all over the other panels. So, for the non-scratched panels can I use the same orange pads and the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Pro 1 and Done Compound Correct and Finish? Thanks!
SO what does this compound actually do? Does it cause a bit of paint dust and that is what fills in the scratch? Also, do you then need to put clear coat or wax the car or that panel once all is done?
Might have to give this a go, I've been doing some blend repairs on my bumpers and have been using Meguiars Ultimate Compound to buff out my clearcoat. Also have a few scratches on my fender that catch my nail. Not expecting miracles but will try it for sure.. Failing that I'll use a Dr Colorchip and failing that I will just respray the fender
Love this video ! Thank you so much for showing this product in action. Does this product work well with paint that has visible flakes in it (no big, just the amount that makes it look metallic). Also, does this remove the clear coat ? Thanks again!
Hey Sonduren, thanks for the product advertisement video. I usually use Turtle wax or Meguairs and I hadn't heard of this new wax yet. That said, buffing out the scratches was BS. As soon as you spread the TW on they were wiped off. They were definitely not "deep" scratches. Next time, use your own key on the paint so we can see the scratch you make and then buff it out. That would make us believers.
Hey Tim! So really this works I’ve been detailing for a while. If you have a dual action polisher you will be surprised with the results you can get though you are right, there is a limit to how deep the scratches can be.
I hate to say this but it did not get the scratch out. It did not in anyway damage the paint finish on my car, so that makes me happy, but it did not remove the scratch, The scratch was about 4 inches long and thin but I could catch my nail on it slightly. I tried to follow your procedure in every detail. I have watched your video at least 20 times. Any suggestions?
The first "scratch" didn't look like a scratch...it look like a mar...a topical blemish that when you placed the 5 "drops" on the pad against it, it disappeared.
Sonduren, I got my porter polisher, plate, pads and the Turtle wax Hybrid Solution. I'm ready but scared, don't you want to come to South Florida and do it for me?
Won't really work. You will need either a dual action polisher or a rotary buffer to get the scratches out. Now you could technically do this by hand but it would take forever, and you wouldn't get these type of results. Highly recommend you just go with the machine polisher, it's a great investment because you're going to eventually get more scratches, especially if you have a daily driver and having it in your arsenal is extremely valuable IMHO.
I just ran across this video and would like to know if once you use this compound it removes the scratches permanently, or does it come off eventually and you have to do another touch-up?
Thanks for the video, Just subscribed. I got a 2000 ford mustang looks brand new, I scratched the bumper with one of my other cars i hope this will fix it.
My wifes car got scratched at work. I noticed the polisher you are using and link you shared, is out of stock. Do you have to use the orange pad you use in the video? And does this pad come with the TW one and done? And i have never added wax or a sealant to a car. Is this hard to do?
Would this work on a plastic non texture front clear coated and painted bumper (2013 CRV)? I had a scratch from someone backing up from a parking lot and I hit her rear passenger fender while I was making towards the exit at very low speed, the passenger side bumper only had very light smudged like clear coat scratch and a few other scratches running a few inches in different direction that is barely noticeable unless I run my fingernail off it. Attempted to use Meguiar's Polishing compound thinking it's too light to use rubbing compound but it's less noticeable after two passes by hand.
The Lake Country polishing pads are out of stock in the US… could you recommend a comparable alternative? Also, would 6” work as well or do you recommend 3” for smaller areas? Thanks!
@Cars with Sonduren cool that you have an IS250. Super nice cars. My grandpa has one, a 2013 in mint condition, candy apple red with only 98,000 Kilometres! Incredibly low for a 10 year old car! It only leaves his garage approximately 2X a week. I didn’t realize you’re Canadian, we are on Vancouver Island. But man those IS250’s just run and run, and run some more, notorious for getting over 600,000 km on regular maintenance. Super reliable, 325,000 k for yours is just getting warmed up. Sorry, if the scratch can be felt with your fingernail, you won't be able to polish it out, if you keep polishing you will go through the clear coat and into the colour, then into the primer.
The truth is you won’t get these type of results without a polisher. Doing it by hand it’s going to be difficult while it is possible I highly recommend you just pick up a dual action polisher. Any wax or sealant works, you can go with anything.
I want to try your method to remove a scratch on my band new 2023 Lexus RX350. I have had it less than 2 weeks. Please clarify the procedure. Is it 5 passes horizontal and 5 passes vertical on speed 5 and the 3 passes horizontal and 3 vertical on speed 6 or is it 5 total 3 total?
@@JN-sf8zy was your scratch one where you catch your fingernail if you swipe your finger across it? I understand that is the definition of a deep scratch.
A perfectly clean and neat garage... 5 dots of paste in an exact, symmetrical pattern, not 4 dots and surely not 6 dots... Run the buffer at speed number 5 for 5 passes and then at number 6 for 3 passes, no more and certainly no less fellas. OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER IS A REAL DRAG, ISN'T IT... "GUYS"???
Thanks, Sonduren. Are the pads 3, or 6 inches? The polisher says it's a 6-inch, but the pads in the link show 3 inches. Also, what is the 3-inch backing plate for?
Would I get the same or similar result if I just polish it by hand (don’t have a polisher)? I just got my IS250 back from Canadian Tire after doing a tire changeover. Drove back home and only noticed then that their “tech” placed their tools on top of the hood and left scratched marks all over 🤬
My ex scratched the hell out my car the other day! Then she threw a brick at my windshield, and she also stuck sugar down my gas tank! Kidding. That would suck! But nice advice. I have only small scratches but I’ll check this product out.

5 passes horizontal and vertical at 5. 3 passes at 6 that is lighter on pressure.
Hi can this product be used in the same way on a plastic bumper?
Yes
@@carswithsonduren thank you so much, it worked perfectly! Great advice and videos! 😊
@@JN-sf8zy was your scratch one where you catch your fingernail if you swipe your finger across it? I understand that is the definition of a deep scratch.
That looks more like paint transfer to me. What is your definition of a deep scratch?
This will works on plastic body??? I have BMW i3 and all body is plastic🤔
Yes it will :)
"GUYS"???
My car already has a ceramic coat. Will this process mess that up?
This will remove the ceramic coating, so you will need to reapply it.
what is the type of foam pad you're using on this video?
Lake country foam polishing and cutting pads :)
@@carswithsonduren is that heavy cutting or medium cutting pad?
Medium cutting
@@carswithsonduren thanks CR
Awesome..thank you...
Thanks, Sonduren. Are the pads 3, or 6 inches? The polisher says it's a 6-inch, but the pads in the link show 3 inches. Also, what is the 3-inch backing plate for?
The polisher works for standard 6 inch pads but the adapter is to make it work for 3 inch pads for this!
😀great video
Thanks man welcome to the channel!
Would I get the same or similar result if I just polish it by hand (don’t have a polisher)? I just got my IS250 back from Canadian Tire after doing a tire changeover. Drove back home and only noticed then that their “tech” placed their tools on top of the hood and left scratched marks all over 🤬
Unfortunately not with hand no :(
You will need a machine polish
Does it work on malicious key scratches
Can I do this without buying a polisher?
You can do this by hand, but you just won’t get the same results. Doing it with a polisher is going to ensure you get the best results.
can this be done by hand for those of us who do not own power tools for your car?
It will be very very hard to do this by hand :( You definitely won’t get the same results.
@@carswithsonduren Thanks CR I was going to try--pro detailing is too expensive around here
If you can get a polisher yourself doing this would be a lot more economical vs paying a professional for sure. Can you get a polisher?
@@carswithsonduren --is there a cheap one for a non-pro that just wants to keep his car looking good every few months? Something at Harbor Freight?
Yes they have one as well but the Porter Cable is the best cheaper go to option
Will using a polisher for your car every time you see a scratch mess up the car paint??
Nope
My ex scratched the hell out my car the other day! Then she threw a brick at my windshield, and she also stuck sugar down my gas tank! Kidding. That would suck! But nice advice. I have only small scratches but I’ll check this product out.
LOL you joke about it but I've heard stories of these things actually happening in real life I would cry 😂
Never teach your wife or gf how to use a 360 excavator or it may come back to bite you on the arse.just saying .they will leave more than just a scratch .
@3:45 I have to WHAT on the scratch!?
Instructions unclear. I did what he said and my neighbours called the police.
Does the scrates reappear after few washes..or is it a permanent solution..?
Permanent!
can this be done on the hood
Yes it can!
Magical, itvis through the black layer, you cant fix this only polishing
There is no way that is a 3 inch pad. Nice info on how to.
Is it permanent or only a temporary fix
Permanent
@@carswithsonduren so the scratches don’t comeback after a few washes ? Thanks for the reply btw
@edwinrubio1681 no they do not. It’s a permanent fix as it just removes the layer of clear over top where the scratch is :) of course. Let me know how it goes and if you have any questions, feel free to reach out and welcome to the channel ✊
This is why I drive a Jeep. Nobody cares about all my scratches.
:)
I missed the part where he came on the scratch. Did y'all see it? LOL 😂
I also use meguiars ultimate compound with good results but will give this turtle wax a try.
Yeah I think for longer working. If you're doing a full paint correction the turtle Wax stuff definitely helps because of the reduction of dusting
