I saw the RHCPs in concert in Charlotte last week. Fantastic concert. I’ve heard numerous guitarists in concert before but the greatest I’ve ever heard was Terry Kath of Chicago way back in 76. Even Hendrix said he was better than him. He was so phenomenal I can still remember his performance 46 years later. Frusciante last week was in the Terry Kath stratosphere . The only guy I’ve heard I would even begin to compare to Kath. Frusciante is a musical genius. Was a great pleasure to see and hear him live last week. I just wish the 20-something bimbos who ruined things by standing up too much , talking to each other and texting on their cell phone for half of the concert had been somewhere else.
I get a strong vibe from him that he just wants to be left alone and that the idea of performing doesn't interest him. Releasing a record and touring pretty much go hand in hand which is why it's delayed. It's nice to know that he's still doing what he loves though.
Never thought of john as a truly original musician. Seems to just be building some sort of mysterious legacy. The money is great, but the responsibility is a nuisance.

He doesn't want to tour but I'd love to see him at least take over a "Brian Wilson" type role in RHCP. This way he could take just a big a hand as he used to in writing and production without touring or only performing occasionally with them if at all. Even if he'd be into though, I'm not sure Flea would be. Things got tense during the making of "By The Way" when John took over writing, arranging and production almost completely. Regardless, I'm grateful.

@@iammsatrio1951 Letur-Lefr, PBX, Outsides, Enclosure are full of guitar, sometimes even layers of harmonies. People are so used to primitive 3 chord songs with bluesy solos that they cannot even distinguish a guitar placed texturally in between other instruments.
When john was making the californication with rhcp, he wouldnt listen to Electronic music before studio sessions because he would get bored of instrumental music. HE ALWAYS LOVED ELECTRONIC MUSIC MORE.
I would be very excited to see him bringing the electronic stuff into the Peppers. Would add some new fresh style to them and also the time is right for this. Radiohead did this before and it was a genius decision.
