👑Special Note 👑 - You can change the Tokai Truss Rod Cover with an actual Gibson "Bell" one - the screws line up perfectly. I put a wide bezel Gibson Custom Shop truss rod cover on my Tokai. I found the Tokai one made the guitar look cheap. This only works for Japanese Tokais. Korean and Chinese Tokais have the 3 screw truss rod covers.
What I'd really like to see is a more apples to apples comparison...Get a Tokai premium series model that uses finer grades of wood, nitro finish and higher quality components, and it would still come in about a thousand less than a Gibson custom shop...that would make for a more fair demonstration in my opinion.
We have done something similar to that in the past! Very good idea indeed, the price difference between these guitars is fairly large but aesthetically a very similar. Thank you for watching
@@squealingpigguitars2438 You mentioned yourself that you like the Gibson more esthetically because of the top and lacquer, but don't compare it to the Tokai model that has the same features? Sorry but this just seems biased in my opinion, even if it is not on purpose. It shows Gibson in a way better light then they deserve and Tokai in a worse one in comparison.
Yeah the 2k ish MIJ Tokais would’ve been a fair comparison, this Tokai in this video is more comparable price wise to the high end Epiphones and I bet it would blow those away, the new Epiphones are nice but I think the Tokais in the 1000 to 1500 dollar range are much better guitars than the Epiphones.
Yup, I don't know what's up but that Tokai isn't exactly a nice one. I only have Gibsons so far and the Tokais I've tried felt just as good if not a little better, in terms of tone highs lows and mids were almost identical but they had a little less bite, which made me a little sad as a metal player lol, but they'd be perfect for classic rock.
@@rollingslothmachine3431 never buy one without playing. I have only keepers. Tokai makes great lighters, Gibson tend to change their specs and prices are crazy.
This particular Gibson custom sounds better and looks better in my opinion but you can't discredit the build quality of the Tokai for the price. The Tokai is a gem for its price and its better than other gibson I've played at that £2k price range, however when in comparison with a custom shop the gibson is going to win all day long! Fun comparison for sure!
The Gibson custom shop sadly seems to have not the most consistent quality, which is a disgrace at that price point in my opinion. If you have to pay upwards of 5000$ to have a more than 50/50 chance at getting a well made guitar, that sounds like a bad manufacturer to me.

Ahh that's pretty cool. I didn't know that
Ive had 3 Gibsons and 1 Tokai, the tokai was considerably better.. however the Yamaha SG 2000 beats them both hands down!
Interesting! Thanks for watching
That Tokai 😍😍😍
The tortoiseshell binding on the Tokai looks cool and the maple top is very cool.👍💣💥
Thanks for watching! Yea I love the tortoise shell binding. It's a cool look!
Yea I dunno. I’ve had many of both, tokis are not better. Very good guitars and you won’t be disappointed if you get it on the cheap.

Your tone is literally DROWNING in swaths of effects that make it nearly impossible to rightly test differences.
Not sure how they feel, but the Tokai sounded like a big huge ball of MUD.

Tweak the eq controls in the amp, turn down the effects, and bingo.......
Gibson Custom makes the best Gibson LP.
Best Gibson LP? In terms of consistency, yes. But not the best LP overall and sadly not even every Gibson out of the custom shop is a good one.

Gibson is way better.
