  • This video shows the difference between the Neutrik NE8MX-B cable carrier connector, and the Neutrik NE8MX6-B EtherCon.
NE8MX-B: This connector is a cable carrier only. It does not include a RJ45 connector. The only items are the metal barrel, chuck strain relief plastic piece, and the threaded rear rubber boot. This is designed to use standard cat6 or cat5 network cables that care commonly available in stores.
NE8MX6-B: This connector includes a integrated RJ45 connector. It is designed around tactical cat cables that have thicker diameters. This connector does not require special tools to crimp the RJ45 connector. A PCB with 2 small cartridges are included that slide into the RJ to provide connection. The connector is a little tricky to build, but gets easier once you get the hang of it.
    Thanks for watching!

A couple clarifications to help you. Music Group says the NE8MX6-B will not work on their consoles because it is designed to prevent cross connection. Second thing, Midas/Behringer consoles require a shielded cable in order to maintain signal sync. If you build a NE8MX-B cable, it requires a shielded plug in order to not wobble like that.

Neutrik Ethercons are compatible only with VERY LIMITED number of Modular RJ45 connectors. Meaning that if you make one using unsupported rj45, it doesn't necessarily fit properly or isn't reliable.
Hirose TM21P series OR TM31P (unshielded CAT6/shielded CAT6a) series are the ones you should use. Or any other from the list that Neutrik provides in the documentation.
But I see people using unsupported connectors ALL THE TIME in my work. Some companies even manufacture Ethercons with unsupported connectors. Why? Because Hirose connectors are expensive.
    AND the NE8MX-B is like

have you taken a look at the new TOP connectors? Do you know if there a difference in weather/dust resistance and how are they in terms of durability and ease of use?

How can I add one of these connectors to my PC? I’ve seen people do this online but I’m not sure how they are able to connect this type of connected inside of a PC desktop.
