    You should also try replacing the thermal paste with something like PTM 7950. Also, keep in mind that these thermal pads could sweat oil over time. It's not conductive, but it can make a real mess and it will soak into any porous material.

    Thermal pads might make the base too hot. Anything around 46C could result in burns. Measure it. Also might make the battery hotter. My advice, use tg pro to monitor battery temps, and if the case bottom is getting too hot, reduce the size of the thermal pads till you find a sweet spot. If you take care this is a great mod

      @Chopper153 3 місяці тому

      Using thermal pads won't make the battery hotter because the battery is not thermally connected to the base plate.

    i done this on my razer blade along with liquid metal, drop temp by 25 degrees on the cpu and 20 on the gpu after thermal saturation works as a charm. The obly downside is the bottom is untouchable when it been running for a while need an fan blowing at it otherwise it will burn ur skin. I got my with aircon blowing at it aswell drops another 30 degrees on the gpu when i game. drops from running 99 to 40 ish when gaming

      @@takojeto it fairly simple, just put the heat pad over the heatpipe or vapour chamber, make sure use a thick pad so it has enough thickness to reach the backplate. With liquidmetal, i just simply confromate coat the entire motherboard with a few coat and put it on

    You will cook your battery.
    Isnt it a bit strange that manufactures doesnt put thermal pads in the devices from the factory, as it clearly helps? Well, theres a reason for that:
    Thermal pads will move excessive heat from CPU to other important components like battery. As you increase the temperature of the battery, the speed of chemical reaction also increases. It can cause the battery to drain faster and impact the battery's capacity permanently. When temperatures exceed 55 degrees celsius, battery degradation becomes a factor from heat directly.

      @@theTechNotice I saw some people who wondered that the thermal pad mod will affect battery temperature. So, I tried the thermal pad mod, then monitored battery temperature with TG pro app(with log file saved) while giving the hard workload on CPU with the benchmarking app(cinebench).
      This table shows the results after running the benchmark test for 10 minutes, at the same environments eg. ambient temp 30c, the temperature of the laptop when starting 34c (also be used as the cooldown endpoint).
      With thermal pad modification unmodified
      Maximum battery temp. 46-48˚C 41-42˚C
      Time to cool down (to the base temperature) 37m 34s to 39m 24s 24m 40s
      This means the thermal pad modification will quite badly increase the battery temperature and also significantly delay the time to cool down at least for 10 mins. Moreover, these tests were running just for 10 minutes, if it has to run games or rendering videos for a longer time, I think it will surely shorten the battery life.
      PS. You may try this experiment by yourself because different environment temperatures may give a different result
