The idea that they “can’t afford” Max Fried makes me sick. No one should be ok with their excuses about being unable to afford certain players. It’s a lie. They’re choosing not to and it sucks. A new owner won’t happen, so we need a new front office. One that actually values stars instead of buying so much “meh” that they “can only afford mid-tier”. I’m sick to death of these trash offseasons. Hasn’t been a good one since 2017-18.
Funny enough, the Dodgers have a really solid, power-hitting catching Prospect in MLB‘s top 100. Dalton Rushing..currently blocked for a full time starting spot because of Will Smith and his long contract
Is Jed still the team president because Tom completely approves of the job he’s doing? Because right now it’s hard to take ownership seriously when they aren’t serious about winning.
There are other needs rather than SP. Why would they even want more lefty starters, anyway? With Assad having a solid season and Ben Brown pitching well prior to his injury, I think their rotation is better than we think. 3B is the glaring hole.Peredes has shown he can’t succeed at home, and let’s face it, having Wisdom and Mastrobouni on the bench is absolutely laughable.
Giving up 2 high picks+ for Pivetta is a deal breaker (and maybe for Fried too). This team is void of a single truly elite hitter. Last year they panic signed Bellinger. And then they traded for 26 year-old minor leaguer Busch, who is a fine player, but at an easily fillable position, and giving up Ferris and Hope is going to haunt the Cubs. In spite of believing that the Cubs will have a long competitive window, these are fire-able actions for Hoyer. However, there is little flexibility and no clear cut path to making the 2025 team a top contender... At this point, what the Cubs *cannot* do is panic and force things. Try to add an impact SP and RP. Don't deal high upside minor leaguers (Shaw/Cassie/Horton/Ballesteros/Cam Smith/Alcantara) or pitching, but be open to moving Canario, Triantos, etc. Paredes has value, so you could deal him if you believed Shaw could step in at 3B. You can't get full value for Hoerner until he's back on the field. Similarly, if Bellinger rebounds to 2023 or better performance, then he would have value in-season and open another spot for someone like Cassie. As it stands now, the Cubs are going to be another 80-something win team. Ride it out and hope for some luck or incremental improvements that can put you in the playoffs. Get in and take your chances. But this team will have better opportunities in 2026 and beyond. Don't go making another Cease/Jimenez for Quintana deal for immediate gratification.
sign Sasaki if you can. Severino or Fried would be nice, how about BOTH ? Then make a massive trade for Mariners Gilbert and Cal Raleigh. Yeah its gonna cost Steele and Shaw and maybe more. But the status quo isnt working. Lets make a deal.

Luv the music at the end.... Good Stuff
Hate being a fan of the small market Chicago cubs

In all seriousness, are the Cubs having financial problems? Because otherwise there’s no excuse for them to be acting like they are.
The Mariners have a blocked catching prospect
So sign Walker Bueller he wasn't given an qualifying offer😊

Amen to all you said.

No thanks.
