It would be too "easy" for a human mind if we´d know the exact moment when this ´vessel´ stops holding other "energies" within. Then there´s no room for evolution for a human kind if "The Day" is knowledged before - hand...

Flight 666, "The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner." It's an epic example of Maiden as storytellers. And as adapters; the song is a version of Coleridge's poem. It even uses a few stanzas from the poem itself:
"Day after day, day after day, we stuck-- no breath, no motion./As idle as a painted ship upon a painted ocean."

Follows a long line of tradition in old European execution ballads, going back to the 1500s. A good example is "Fortune My Foe", which was often sung at public hangings. Often now set to the lute song, of the same name ,written by John Dowland in the late 16th Century. Even Akercocke, an extreme Metal band from the UK, included it on their 2nd album.

One of their very best and a heavy metal classic, I love the studio version as they tend to play it too fast live, and I get that, it's a concert, energy is high but it's a dirge, it needs to crawl just a bit, dude is walking to his own demise; also the listener never knows exactly what our protagonist has been accused of or if he is even guilty, those details don't matter, so well written, the tale feels complete.

Turned on UA-cam and this topped my feed! As a young tyke, I immediately clicked with Iron Maiden's storytelling. Then for Bruce Dickinson's powerful debut. And how he drew from history to write his lyrics. And the song's hook. And Steve Harris's bass. And... and... and...
Then we were all marked and outcast as satan worshippers. Wha???
It's weird millions go see Friday the 13th and the like, featuring serial killers and society gives that an ok. But one little (um..., epic!) Number of the Beast LP and people lost their shit. Power of music? Up the Irons!

@@SaeedReacts.greetings and Love from Cologne, Germany again..well, i'm a MaidenManiac since 1985. I cannot explain how much Maiden their music helped me in all those years, yes even saved my life in some way. I went to my horrorble alc rehab in 2010 and i'm sure it would have be ended with me dying, serious. I'm talking bout one of the most fatal addiction there is. The Devil Alcohol. Very slowly and silent the way it kills you. Me alone, a weak and insecure kinda person, an easy target for Satan. That's when the often quoted 'Power of music' comes in. And it showed me that this quote is a damn real thing. Many of so called friends (aka Unbelievers) spittin at me and went like: of course, you Säufer (alcoholic, in a mean way), alc caused you a brain damage, you telling us that a 'Metal Band' saved your live, you're
mental. I just said to them, Fak Off, i know the truth. And you, you "LUL's" can't even handle the truth.
And you, Saeed, with your knowledge and understanding of 'Music', especialy in sense of Spiritual, you get it for sure, (without even have had that expirience on yourself) when i say listening the music of Maiden & Gary Moore during my rehab, really gave me the faith in myself, gave me the imense strenght and self confidense i needed to kick Satan's ass, winning that fight and survived sucsessful. After few weeks that it took to becomming totaly sober and as then my head worked again, and with many of my brain cells luckly still there, it came so damn clear to me: Holy Moses, how many are out there without any clue bout that Power, for them Music is just Music, a every day thing like watching an odinary TV Show. While i know it's facken not. The Power of Music can move mountains, can change a character 360° arround, music can even make bad religions disapear ( for wich myself, an atheist, don't care, hehe). Since i'm aware of the 'POM' for now 14 years i can't stop thinking bout it. And i often talking to myself like: Dude....dude...that must be it, damn, the 'KingOfPop', MJ said it in so many Songs and in his 'Music'. Heal the World, Make it a better Place, Man in the Mirror, Earth Song. And i absolute believe it, with Music..and, i take a guess, with True Love it's actually possible.. both have that Power to change Mankind for real, and to end all Wars, to end animal abuse/ cruelty, to make all the Hate and all the Violence disapear, to save Us and this beautyful Mother Earth. Make it a better Place, not for us, that's to late and not important, but for our kids and their kids and...at least for Mankind, a worthy Mankind, you know. Cause honestly, in the state in wich Human Mankind is today, we should not excist. Serious, i wonder why this Planet didn't extinged

For the love of all that is good, if you're a writer then look no further than Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Iron Maiden. And yes, there's inspiration from the classic Coleridge poem.
Enjoy! I beleive it's Maidens greatest achievement.
Ps..I'm 56 and first saw them here in Australia in 1984.

live version beast over Hammersmith 1982, if you loved the writing on this then i recommend doing the songs The Trooper and then to really blow your mind Rime of the ancient marine. As others may have said best way to do music reactions is to do the studio version first then the live version so you are on the right track.

Hi Saaed. I am a huge Iron Maiden Fan and love all their work Bruce Dickinson is only rivalled as a metal singer by his inspirator - Ian Gillan. Now try something different if you like story telling in music - Nightwish (especially live with Floor Jansen) They have just released The Day Of ... off their new album. I think you will be intrigued. Take care Bud.

First time. To your show I liked it. Start writing. Try spinning Black Sabbath Children of the Sea at this time Ronnie James Dio was the lead singer him and Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden are the best singer's in my Opinion or try listening to BS with Ozzy Hand of Doom Oz ain't like Dio or Bruce butt he's right there
