hardly a firestick killer is it, only available in the us, when they do come up here they are £90+ so its hardly available and more expensive 🤷♂🤷♂
Remember, if you want to use this to access bbc iplayer content, you have to pay £170 for a tv licence.
I would say the homatics Box R 4K plus would be a much better fire stick killer with better specs and it's just been updated to android tv 12.
Just get a kodi box and learn how to install apps with downloadre job done 😊
All in all I'd rather have my Fire TV cube and, similar price when on special.
That's OK at the moment but when Amazon Bring out their new devices with Vega OS then there is no sideloading on these!
@@cwtek1 Indeed, but it won't affect current devices, so, a problem for another day 👍
@@tombanigan2138 It's good to have a heads up on a good replacement though!
Exfat works for me but IDK if it's different in UK
Yes you are absolutely right ex-fat does work! I just tried it and I now have a file over 4gb on my external drive plugged into the Onn 4k pro Box!
HD max box £23-£34 Amazon I’ve had mine for over 5 years, upgraded last year so it runs the latest Android.
Teeveeing, Amazon, anything no fees, nothing if you haven’t got an Android TV it’s great we have but the TV’s are limited, so we use both.
First to review in the UK? I'm pretty sure TDUK reviewed this box months ago 🤷♂
The box was only released a few weeks ago, TDUK did a few videos but he didn't have a unit himself so could only do a review based on other reviews he had seen online!
Would the sideloaded version of BBC iPlayer allow for 4K playback like the official one does on fire stick? That would be the only reason I wouldn’t want to maybe possibly replace it in the future is that Amazon allows you to change your account location if you don’t have an app officially in your store but if 4K playback works it’s a non issue.
Hi Chris
I have the option of getting one from the US next week at walmart price. Can u tell. me if this will power up from the usb slot as i wont have room for a power adapter. Thanks
Speaking as someone who has tried a few 'TV boxes' over time, I'd always recommend a Roku device if on a budget.
Amazon, last I knew didn't offer UA-cam or Google TV/Movies due to stupid disagreements. Whereas Roku has it all.
If you have a bigger budget, consider an Nvidia TV shield, as it offers everything and is powerful enough for game emulation.
Ref Ch4. If you have a ONN box in uk you’ll have a smart tv or Firestick probably already that can get ALL4?.?? the ONN are predominantly purchased for side loading. Who cares about ch4 on this device. Plenty of options to get that on your tv or current stick.
Absolutely true!
Surely if you have a 4K TV it is already as smart TV with the ability to do everything you have shown, what is the use case for a device like this?
These boxes are far more versatile than most smart TVs, also my smart Tv that is only 3 years old has become frustratingly slow on the smart side, this has given my TV a new lease of life. Also with 4 times the storage of most smart TVs I can install even more apps.
You would think that and yes it can do everything this box can do if it's a Google TV powered TV.
BUT all Google TV powered TVs are very very underpowered. Using a Google TV powered TV is a laggy nightmare because TV manufacturers use the cheapest and most underpowered chipset available.
I've had two Google powered TVs and I've always stopped using the onboard os because it's frustrating how badly underpowered it is. And I don't mean I was using a cheap TV either.
Not only TV but if your TV is an lg or Samsung you have very limited choice of available apps. With android TV or Google TV you can download the app for an app and install it on the TV or box. You have thousands more apps than Samsung or lg.
@@cwtek1 😆😆😆Smart TV's ain't smart their Dumb TVs .
Wish I could get one in Canada 😊
Don't they have Walmarts in Canada??
Gimme a minute
My mate's holidaying for the month near the border i think and got me one
Blaine Walmart, obviously don't know if it's anywhere near but they had them in stock
@@josephcooter5763 no apparently not getting them…
Try looking at eBay!
What a load of hassle! Virgin media has all of this and works so easy no messing around setting apps up. Don't waste your time and money!
Whats it stream like in 4k does it run smooth
Yes streams smooth just like the 4k firesticks.
Although it would be great to dump the OS and 'liberate' it. I, personally, find Google Assistant (switchable or not), having to use an account (metadata collection) and signing an agreement with no granularity to not agree to aspects still more of the same old crap. Add to this that the device is being sold by Walmart then one would imagine that they have a vested interest in that data. Why not show (collaborate with fellow techs) to try the aforementioned so that the user is not being used? Operators of tools shouldn't become the tool themselves.
That's great but a shame about channel 4.
Hopefully it will be available soon!
Can someone please recommend a converter plug to us the Onn 4k pro streaming box in the uk
Does Sky Go work on this?
Its not even close to firestick..so much more expensive...firestick evertime ..
Can NOWTV be d/loaded Chris?
I have the original Onn $20 dollar one a little beast if you know how to load it got someone who goes to the states a lot so they get them for me .
That’s great.
I have one too. TRY playing 4K video on UA-cam. Won’t do it.
@@harmzegt8066 The original onn box was not a 4k box so it won't play anything 4k.
@@harmzegt8066 Play's fine on my TV depends on you're TV and setting's and which HDMI port your on.
Bloody ridiculous extra costs. 👎👎
Unfortunately so.
Why not buy a Google Chromecast TV for £35 - in your review setup etc it looks identical to the Chromecast... which already comes with all the UK channels (iPlayer etc) pre-loaded
Onn is a far better spec than the Chromecast and has much more storage.
Your a fool to get it shipped over, too expensive... Loads more devices available
It’s a great device, I am going to connect it to my Sony Android TV which has become very slow and has limited storage for apps. So even though it cost me nearly £100 it’s still cheaper than a shield has more space and is much faster than the Android system built in to my TV, it has given my tv new life, so worth every penny.
Thanx Chris…..shared
Thanks for sharing
You should have not been charged import tax as it was under the threshold
This device is not worth that kind of money, can you find an alternative to firestick available in UK for reasonable price plz 👍
At the moment yes, but when Amazon launch Vega OS on their new firesticks and cubes then there will be nothing comparable to this for sideloading.
$101? Man I have to say that just isn't worth it.
Don't worry too much we are not better than you in Canada, even if I drive is less than 3 hours iam in United States but I had to buy one of this from eBay as well and cost me $138 CAD but still didn't receive it after 9 days
Not worth £96
I think once you take the firesticks out of the equation when Amazon releases their Vega os then you might feel different.
For that price might aswel add afew more quid and get a shield tube @cwtek1
@@RONINGAMING24 As the video says this is just as good as the standard shield at £137, if you are looking at the shield pro then that's quite a lot more.
@cwtek1 I would rather go with Nvidia, knowing that they update regularly. The specs still aren't beating the Shield, but it all comes down to user preferences.
@@RONINGAMING24 Is that the shield Pro?
None of these boxes support channel 4 I only watch Hollyoaks on channel 4 but it's nice to have it I will have to stick with my Amazon fire TV cube 3rd gen until we get a killer for that box
I would not go around telling people you actually watch Hollyoaks, how sad watching Garbage programs
Channel 4 have a great archive of TV shows. A box which doesn't support it is at a disadvantage.
@@MusicMovies67 So you watch Eastenders?
@@MusicMovies67 the thing is I don't care what people think lol
Why on earth would anyone watch that?..
Android boxes with Android 13. 4 GB RAM & 128GB storage £40
So youd of been better of buying a mecool km2 plus for around £70
The meecool km2 plus only has 16gb of storage (probably about 12gb usable) this has a massive 32gb of storage also the 3gb of Ram really helps the processor and gpu to keep things less laggy.
@@cwtek1 you're only using it for streaming so it's got plenty of space for that
Look but you be better to LEAP
Yes
What’s the point if you can’t get it in the uk 😳
You ain't the first to review this in the UK!🤣🤣🤣
Who else has had this box in the UK and reviewed it themselves?
Thanks for making the video, but this appears to be a glorified freeview box.
never ever by any android box buy a fire cube or a nvidia shield
Yeah no thanks!
Easy to jailbreak but nowhere near the capabilities of a firestick.
Middle button, middle button, middle button, middle button , middle button, god damn annoying , had to turn it off , infuriating
I know its infuriating, but if I don't say it then I get hundreds of questions asking me what button should i push!
