Anybody having trouble with soundbar pairing? Mine pairs ok but it doesn't power off with the tv when I hit the power button on the remote. I have to manually turn it off. Volume controls work fine. BTW - great video I saved it for future reference.
When I try to connect via Ethernet using the USB mine won’t connect. Is there something I need to do to fix that? When I plug the Ethernet wire directly into the Ethernet hole it works, but at that slower 10/100. What am I doing wrong? Update: after being plugged in for a few minutes it connected. Doesn’t make sense why it took so long but it worked,….but slow. 125.79 download and upload was 114.61. Wi-Fi is much much quicker on this Pro Device.
Hey Triple M, just setup my Onn yesterday, installed KODI 21 and I was trying to get to a zip file on connected USB drive. For some reason. KODI didn't show any zip files(repositories) on USA, just directories. I used to be able to do it all the time on my NVidia. Do I have to do something in order to be able to get to a zip file on USA? Great videos, BTW
The only issue I've personally seen for far is when I say hey Google while watching UA-cam it gives me the answer but it doesn't let the video resume automatically after Google gives you the answer. You actually have to hit the back button or something. Very strange why it doesn't just resume after Google is done answering anything.
Great stuff, Melvin. Very detailed and exhaustive presentation. It would be a good idea to share your recording hardware, if you wish. I am one of the guys who is curious. The fact that extra usb drive can increase the storage to install apps is a great feature. I have Tivo and is restricted by space. So i will be interested in this device. Also how did you record the TV screen?
Not bad for $50 and I could maybe recommend this to some people, especially as an entry-streaming device, and to those that aren’t opposed to the Google TV part. It would take a lot to pry me from my AppleTVs for my home, but this is a great option for those extra/guest/garage/etc TVs or those looking for budget devices. I don’t personally use many Google or Amazon products/services due to the data privacy implications-it’s simply a personal decision. I do really like the _physical_ mic switch though and wish more products implemented them.
I bought one of these Onn 4K Pro the other day. I heard that some of them came with a backlit remote control. But mine came with a regular black and white remote control. No big deal for me but it would have been nice to get a backlit one.😊
Troypoint mentioned that some do. I wonder why would they even release any at all. I think most people would prefer one with a backlight. I guess they didn't feel pressured, because of the low price.
Love this product and you did a great review good job and thank you. Blows my mind it doesn't have a 10/100 / 1000 ethernet port. The one and only thing I can find that sucks about it.
@@philiprobar you missed my point, re-read my comment. How could it have 20 year old technology of a 10/100 ethernet port and not a 1/100/1000 which has been standard for 10 plus years.

Walmart is basically trying to sell off the old devices first. I'm a new subscriber who enjoyed this review. I have the 1st Google Onn and was about to replace it with a Fire Stick 4K Max, because there are some things I don't like about it; like disabling my Flix Vision or not able to install other 3rd Party Apps, but it looks like they're more open to allowing this. I like quite a few new features that you displayed; so, I think I'll try the Pro. Thanks for sharing this info.
@@Triple_MI really like this one. It addressed the issues I had, like the storage space. Now I have no problem installing 3rd Party Apps and them not being disabled later. I still made the adjustment in security that Troypoint suggested. I have more than enough to watch between Google, Kodi and 3rd Party Apps-with 19 GB remaining. I also like how quick and smooth it moves through apps and functions. The wired connection has removed the buffering in Kodi Live. Troypoint said you only need a 25 download speed to run the Fire Stick; so, I guess the Ethernet connecting at a 100 speed is taking care of the buffering in Kodi. Although, I did have to go back and forth with connecting and disconnecting wired and wireless and connecting and disconnecting my VPN. I finally got it to work with good results being Ethernet connected with VPN. Enjoying the other added features too. Thanks again for your review, it stopped me from switching back to Fire Stick before trying this new version of Onn.

Yes, it's so difficult to replace a couple of dirt cheap AAA batteries once a year. I'd much rather have to constantly plug-in my remote to charge it and then when the non-replaceable battery dies, I can just throw the entire remote away and spend $50 on another one. If replacements are still even available.
@@nodak81 constantly plug in remote ? LOL,charge once it and lasts for months. U need to use a chargeable remote or mouse once!! keeping a bunch of aaa cells in stock is definitely a pain with the number of gadgets and remotes these days.
The Operating System alone makes it better than any amazon device. Comes with only a 10/100 LAN port BUT can purchase an external 3.0 USB dongle 10/100/1000 to make it 1GB
I have a Fire Cube and I have never come close to running out of storage. I have been using it for at least 3 years and have never had a storage problem.

For once Walmart has a decent product that I'm actually interested in. But what I like the most about this product is to find your remote that is a very very handy feature in kudos to the engineers of Walmart.
Just bought this to replace my Firestick that keeps running out of storage and I only have one app that I use (IPTV). The only way I can fix the Firestick is by taking it back to brand new by resetting it and then after a few months it does the same damn thing. F anyone’s wondering yes,….I can clear the cache on everything and still runs out over time. Hopefully this Onn Pro does better!
🎉 Question 🎊 Will An OTA Dongle Work On This Device To Get OTA Channels and Hopefully Integrate Into Channel Guide and Picture In Picture Features ??? Thanks For The Awesome Reviews..
The difference between this device and the regular onn cast is that the remote control is white and this is black, but pretty much the same, aside from the star button. The device itself is quite different.
What internet speed do you pay for? I am wondering if it is possible to get 800 plus Mbps using a usb to gigabit Ethernet adapter. 16 Gb storage, gigabit Ethernet and a USB 3.0 port would make much more sense than the combination on this device.
Good video. I noticed you did not make mention of the Blue button I’ve seen in other online videos of the remote, as well as no mention of the remote being backlit, which I thought this one is.
@@Triple_M It’s a big blue button that says “Free App” on the button. Middle of remote, can’t miss it. Yours obviously doesn’t have it. I’m surprised you haven’t seen it anywhere yet.
Mine came with the backlit remote and the big blue button. Some people get that remote and some get the one shown in this video. Seems pretty random. I noted the UPC code on the outside of my packaging is exactly the same as the one shown in this video, so you apparently can't tell without opening up the box.
Troypoint mentioned some don't have the backlight too. I'm surprised they released any at all, knowing most people would prefer the backlight. I guess they felt no pressure, because of the low price.
So I have all the othered on the benchmark and then some. But with the talk of Amazon stopping the side loading on the firedevices I might give it a go just for tv apps.
@@Triple_M It seems like you reviewed it already..4yrs ago!😅..but you called by a different name. It doesn't have *iClever mini Portable...* in the title.
This looks pretty good and is at a great price. I wish Amazon would let us know if they would put Vega on existing Firesticks already. I'm tempted to buy this considering they keep getting rid of my launchers.
Can it be used offline after the initial setup if you're playing videos from the USB port? Basically, could you take it to a hotel and use it as a media player without connecting it to wifi?
Is this faster than the $20 Onn box? I have one of those and it’s very laggy for me when navigating the screens and opening/closing apps. I’m overall disappointed it, but I guess I can’t complain for $20.
Sounds like an animation issue. Reduce it to .5 or turn it off all together. Might want to use a custom launcher as well. That being said and to answer your question it is definitely faster. Better CPU, More ram (always improves performance) and more storage (also helps).
Sadly it's not a "fire stick killer" while the onn box itself is extremely smooth, browsing and playing content and all. It fails to play 4k Remux files which is pretty disappointing, it makes no sense tho because the device feels much snappier than the stick.
Livestreaming TV from the internet gives you a much better TV experience on the couch at meal and chill time but I see what's going on here, companies are trying to out do each other and eventually internet prices will skyrocket because we all have other devices that need the internet to function.
I have the Nvidia shield pro .. 3gb with 16gb storage but can expand. .. it's still my favorite device and One thing I love is the AI chip which upscales HD to UHD . Even though this one has 32gb storage. If you installed enough apps to fill that storage the ram is still only 3gb and can only handle a limited number of apps
compare the video quality of the Onn Pro vs previous boxes or other devices to see the difference. The On pro shows slightly darker.. peoples skin tones are darker in video quality. My Verizon Android TV box shows more vivid (Brighter). I was going to buy two ONN pro boxes but i will hold off on that.
Any idea what video and audio codecs this thing can play? I'm thinking particularly of streaming my own video files off my network, or playing them off a USB drive.
Can you tell me how good the wireless internet is on it on the Onn 4K Pro meaning I have a TV out in my detached garage in my router is inside my house just curious as to how far it will reach the wireless internet do you know anything about that?
when i plug my usb into my hub and into the back of my box it does nothing is there a setting because it's driving me crazi i tried everything and mines won't reckonize?
Do the mute lights stay on all the time or can you turn them off if you just don't want to use the hands free voice assistant or you place this under your TV?
I got 2 of the last Onn 4k boxes because they were only $20. This is hardly any better than those, but I don't use them for TV. I use them for home assistant hubs because they are ultra low power and you can root them pretty easily... if your willing to crack them open that is. Cheaper and better than a raspberry pi. I still think the Old Onn 4k is better value for the money.
Do you need a Google TV to use this my daughter's disabled on a very small income we're trying to figure out the cheapest way for her to get her entertainment the internet but what's a good system for people who are disabled on a very limited income
No you don't need a "Google TV". You can connect this to any TV that has an hdmi port which in this day and age they all do. I bought a regular onn stick (not 4k) for $14.99 for my mom's "dumb" samsung TV from 2009. Works great, and now she can watch her favorite UA-cam cooking channels on the tv. Hope this helps. Ps. You do need to have or create a Google account. Which is easily done online.

@@nodak81 constantly plug in remote ? LOL,charge once it and lasts for months. U need to use a chargeable remote or mouse once!! keeping a bunch of aaa cells in stock is definitely a pain with the number of gadgets and remotes these days.
We can use downloader and put side loaded apks right?
You should def be able to side load! Not sure about downloader though
Hey Triple M Real Nice Device The Best Review i seen so far on This Device Thanks - Bk 👌
I appreciate that!
usb 3.0 port...finally. The only thing that sucks is the non gigabit network.
@@jleechadwicknot storage. The comment is in regards to Internet speed
@@lamb88ertSame rules apply to the 3rd gen fire cube's similar Ethernet port. I got a 3.0 USB Gigabit Ethernet hub hooked up to it and I'm getting increased speeds as well.
10/100 is more that good enough for streaming 4K video.
It's also wifi 6 which is plenty fast already for streaming.
Hi Thank you for video it was great I have Super Box it's still plays great thanks again
@Triple M…can you put the link on that keyboard/remote combo…you said you put it in the description but I don’t see it
Sorry, I'll add it... here it is amzn.to/3JQZocl
@@Triple_M Except that ZYF Z10 you've linked is noted as unavailable.
@@stanleygustafson Yes, they go fast. Just keep checking. If you check on google, they are also on ebay and Ali Express.
For once Walmart has a decent product that I'm actually interested in. But what I like the most about this product is to find your remote that is a very very handy feature in kudos to the engineers of Walmart.
Yes, I love that they added that feature
THANK YOU - GOOD INFO!
Can you get one to work in the UK?
🎉 Question 🎊
Will An OTA Dongle Work On This Device To Get OTA Channels and Hopefully Integrate Into Channel Guide and Picture In Picture Features ???
Thanks For The Awesome Reviews..
Does this support Atmos TrueHD and DTSX:MA?
I just don't get it! They make what appears to be a slam dunk product and then put a 💩 processor in it from 2017 WHYY
Which button, the Google voice assistant button? Also, no backlight on this one.
@@Tarkus_ That is interesting. How come ONN hasn’t put out a statement about this, shipping different remotes, seemingly at random?
Troypoint mentioned some don't have the backlight too. I'm surprised they released any at all, knowing most people would prefer the backlight. I guess they felt no pressure, because of the low price.
don't use built in Lan use a USB adapter to plug a 1 gig adaptor
can install a hard drive as well to backup movies
Why not use the built in NIC?
@@philiprobar because its slow and you really need the 1 gig connection especially when using back loaded apps
Bro good job I live your videos keep it up. Please how can I get one am living in Spain
So I can hook my 1TB hard drive up to this without formatting it, and it will play my media?
I'm having a very hard time finding this in Walmart....ugh
Good review. May want to reduce the "go ahead's".
So I have all the othered on the benchmark and then some. But with the talk of Amazon stopping the side loading on the firedevices I might give it a go just for tv apps.
The news came a long time ago right ?
Is there any update related to it about removing the other app installing/side loading?
Great video
Question? Can you download the downloader from here and apps like Tivimate things like that. Thank you
I wouldnt say u need downloader app. it's playstore by Google. tivimate can be downloaded through there
Million dollar question
Yes, of course.👍🏻
From Google play store. 😁
Yes, you can.
Thanks for the review.
iClever Mini Portable Wireless Rechargeable Bluetooth Keyboard with Mouse Touchpad Backlit is also a good pick👍🏽
I’ll check it out
@@Triple_M It seems like you reviewed it already..4yrs ago!😅..but you called by a different name. It doesn't have *iClever mini Portable...* in the title.
Is it still hit or miss on boxed remotes? Seem they have 3. The best one is back lighted.
Only thing I wish it had was an SD card slot
This looks pretty good and is at a great price. I wish Amazon would let us know if they would put Vega on existing Firesticks already. I'm tempted to buy this considering they keep getting rid of my launchers.
Sideload your own launcher
@@dgperforms1 I did do that. I can still use it, but it takes me to that sloppy home screen.
Whats this for ? What does it replace ??
Is it come with the internet chrome browser ?
😮 I have the first one but this one is a MUST for me thumbs up 👍.
Can it be used offline after the initial setup if you're playing videos from the USB port? Basically, could you take it to a hotel and use it as a media player without connecting it to wifi?
Sure, as long as you have a USB Stick loaded with your content
@@dgperforms1 thank you. I got mind this week and figured it out.
Hi thanks for the video,,please where can I buy?
Thanks for the video Triple M
No problem 👍
A better buy for certain. Ordered one last night on Walmart. Bought the G7 Max, it crashes like crazy from time to time. Crap.
Thanks for the demo and info, have a great day
Thanks for watching!!
compare the video quality of the Onn Pro vs previous boxes or other devices to see the difference. The On pro shows slightly darker.. peoples skin tones are darker in video quality. My Verizon Android TV box shows more vivid (Brighter). I was going to buy two ONN pro boxes but i will hold off on that.
The "find my remote" feature is a game changer.
Hey Triple M is the g96 TV stick any good.
Any idea what video and audio codecs this thing can play? I'm thinking particularly of streaming my own video files off my network, or playing them off a USB drive.
Your external USB Ethernet device you used. Which one was that? Did the USB power it up, or did you use a a charging cord like the Firestick uses.
The usb powered it up. It is the urgreen adapter. I’ll see if I can send you a link.
I like mu 2023 onn. Is it worth to upgrade? On your test the Ethernet seems useless.
I would say no if you are happy with what you currently have. But if you are in the market, this a great device to have.
Hi, how about a performance comparison with the Google Chromecast with Google TV
For some reason it doesn't support Sling TV unless you sideload it. Hopefully it's because it's still new and Google will catch up with it soon.
That’s weird!! I’ll double check some other devices to see if sling was pulled from Google play.
@@Triple_M my old Onn box received a Sling TV update today so I looked for it on the new box in the Play store again and it's there now. 👍🏻
Is there an Internet app? Can you download any app to it, like Kodi or is it limited to apps of their own?
You can download any app including 3rd party apps.
Please put a warning way ahead of time on any products you are reviewing where you say the trigger word to activate your and potentially anyone else's personal assistant.
I did on the follow up video.
Where i can buy it. Thanks🙏
Check description
Please what about audio spouting dts master audio true hd?
If connected with HDMI to a computer monitor with no audio output, can we get audio from the box built in speakers itself?
I finally broke down and brought one this morning bro hooking it up now and it's already installing system updates
