When Tian Tao dropped the barbell @6:21 and caught it as it bounced back up. I actually leaned forward to see if he was going to do that repeatedly as some form of conditioning exercise that I wasn't familiar with? Seeing these three and the things they do in the back room area are just a couple of the many reasons that I'm subscribed to this channel. I low-key wonder if that whole holding weight plates on your back core exercise is one that all weightlifters do though? So if anyone knows the answer to that please let me know? It looks hard but yet effective. I also think that China only being able to send 3 men to the Olympics. And the fact that not all weight categories are Olympic categories ahould both be things that the Weightlifting committee should reconsider. But that's just my opinion. Thank you Seb and WH for the background info and footage. You are appreciated.

The "China can only send three athletes total to the Olympics" storyline is not really as important as you're making it seem. They don't have a 102 or super heavyweight that has any chance of medaling. So it's gonna be Li Fabin or Chen Lijun in the 61s, Shi Zhiyong in the 73s, and one of these guys in the 89s. China will certainly send Li Fabin as his totals are likely to far exceed the competition. Shi Zhiyong looks like a long shot to be in shape and there’s no real 73kg lifter other than him for China. 89KG will be Uber competitive depending on if Karlos will be recovered from his injury…I’d imagine they will ultimately go with Li Dayin as he will dominate the field in the snatch and just needs to be average in the C&J to secure gold. Tian is too risky with his propensity to bomb out of competitions and his snatch total will be weak.

I see your point, but the competition is tomorrow, and he is going hard training the other times. You can tell he wast on competition shape ,like the last word championship if he compite for sure was a bust .

Am I getting this right? If a country has the top three lifters, competing at the Olympics, only two can actually compete? Even if they are the top three in the world? Imagine if track and field was like this. Gatlin could compete, but not gay. It doesn't make sense.

The olympics is primarily a country vs country competition, it makes sense that only the very best from each country would get the chance to compete so that we can get more representation in terms of the number of countries, and a better indicator of how each country measures up to one another

yep olympics is not really about who is the best athlete. For example in 67kg class in Tokyo China could have sent athletes that would basically have moved everyone except Chen Lijun and Luis Mosquera into the B group

why are you emphasizing the fight vs karlos so much? china's only good heavyweight in recent memory is yang zhe who hasn't competed since 2018

Probably because it’s going to be the most entertaining weight class of the Olympics, no one is going to beat li fabin in the 61s and providing shi zhiyong gets back in reasonable shape no one is coming close to beating him either
