How about tire pressure: what are the scenarios where you want a higher or lower pressure? how often do you check your pressure and what methods? what about slime or other anti-flat technologies?

I got drum brakes on my trike, but can't seem to find good info on how to service them. Main issue of late is the brake cable pulls on brake arm outside the drum, but on release that arm is hanging and not releasing the brake. Also since I don't fully understand how drum brakes function, from using v-brakes or disc. I enjoy shorter pulls with a bit of room to ease into full braking, but I feel from diagram I looked at, doing that to a drum brake lever might reduce the full leverage on the drum brake...

Great questions! I actually have a video for in March, "Slime, or not to slime, that is the question"

Is your brake cable sticking in the housing or is the arm itself catching?

Love this! I've had mechanics (whom we both know) tell me NEVER to clean a chain with an acid based cleaner as you lose the factory grease that is embedded within the links.

Ha, I got a good laugh out of this. I'm also not a fan of ultrasonic machines. It makes quick work but I've had them strip various chainring anodization. I prefer something I feel comfortable using around kids :)

I would like to see how to adjust the front and rear derailleur

Hey David, I sell primarily electric cargo bikes so they don't have a front derailleur. I'll add the idea of a rear derailleur to the list of content!

Chain maintenance was one of my big questions after getting a Tern GSD - sounds like I'm doing it right ;) Is there ever a reason to clean the chainring?
Also - I notice that you're not running the stock pedals. My instinct is to slap on a colorful set of Odyssey pedals, but the sandpaper stock pedals are working well (and I hate to replace something that isn't worn out).

      Thanks for the comment!
I would clean my cassette / rear cog and chainring if your chain looks like the example given in the video or anything you are replacing the chain due to wear.
It is winter here in Denver (as it is snowing outside) and the sand paper ones don't work very well when you have snow compacted on the bottom of your shoes.. A good set of $16-40 pedals are life changing depending on your weather conditions. You can read my thoughts on electric/cargo bike pedals here: bikeshopgirl.com/blogs/updates/thoughts-on-electric-and-cargo-bike-pedals

Hi Bike Shop Girl! That was really useful. My GSD is now a year old, and has had regular use. I'm going to take your advice about buying a chain checker, but what I can't find on the Tern website is the specification for replacement chain (I'm assuming a standard 10 speed chain, but how many links?) I'd appreciate your thoughts.

      You’ll need a 10 speed ebike chain. I’m a big fan of the 10xE.

@@BikeShopGirl thanks. Do you know how many links offhand? It looks quite long, so I'm wondering if it's necessary to join two together.

I've honestly never counted links of a chain in my life, I always measure to the old chain if it is shifting well, if it isn't shifting well then I measure based off wrapping it around the cogs and trimming to fit properly (sometimes mass built bikes have the wrong chain length). Do you have the S00 or the S10?

@@BikeShopGirl Hi, I have the older S10. It was to save a bit of time in case I had bought a replacement chain, found it too short and then needed to order another to splice on. But I guess I could always put the old one back on in the interim. I don't want to take up your time - I should stop being lazy and just go out and count the links!

OK, I've counted 138 links (I think.) Awkward, so I wonder if I could just get away with a Connex 10SE 136.

Hello! Great video and I'm glad I found your channel!
I have a question. Do you have any tips for putting the chain back on if it come off while riding? I've got an S10 and, oh my, it's so difficult to put it back on! I use a metal coat hanger and shift to the highest gear (smallest cog) but it takes at least ten minutes..! :|

I would visit a shop to figure out why it is derailling. I've only seen that happen to one customer and it was due to his clutch turned off on his derailleur and bouncing on some pretty uneven terrain.
