Heavy metal is similar to classical music in its compositions and intricacies, hence why this works so well. Even before Metallica did this, i used to listen to their songs and noticed the similarities with the classical music i listened to when i was studying at school...albeit badly...my studying that is.
There were two concerts that Metallica did with the San Francisco Orchestra, one S&M, was done in 1999. S&M2 was done in 2019 in celebration of the 20th anniversary of S&M. I think this is S&M2 because the bass player in the first one was Jason Newsted and I see the bass player here is Rob Trujillo. I've watched S&M (1999) many times, it's a great concert, not seen S&M2 that much but it's a good concert too. Whatever, 'For Whom The Bell Tolls' is a brilliant song, one of my favourites and I've got it on a playlist. Thanks so much for the reaction, Anthony! 😊😊
For Whom the Bell Tolls is a novel by Ernest Hemingway published in 1940. It tells the story of Robert Jordan, a young American volunteer attached to a Republican guerrilla unit during the Spanish Civil War. As a dynamiter, he is assigned to blow up a bridge during an attack on the city of Segovia....Well, according to Wikipedia
