Thank you for this video. I've been dealing with tennis elbow on and off for decades. Question...when you are pushing on the sore spot in your 2nd sequence here, are you pushing on the actual tennis elbow sore spot or the sore muscle just below that point? Thanks.

Thank you so much for the first 2 exercises! Been doing them for the past 4 months or so but the relief came in like 2 weeks!
I have a question, due to my RA, my elbows are stuck in an angle, meaning they cannot go straight.
My wrist also don't have the same flexibility as normal people (e.g. i push doors with a fist shape because its not flexible enough for open palm)
How could you recommend doing the last two stretches in my condition? 😅

Hi Dr. Ennis... do you have anything or a Forearm Sprain in a child? My 6-year-old fell at school and it's been a month and he still feels pain when doing activities like sports. X-rays were negative, but I'm guessing that it's a grade 2 sprain. I've heard those take 4-8 weeks to heal. Any exercises I should have him do? Thoughts? Or just REST? We've been resting... no throwing, no batting practice because the vibration of the contact hurts his arm.

I am so hopeful that your tips work. I have been battling lateral epicondylitis/tennis elbow for months due to a repetitive motion injury from playing the drums. Music is my passion and I absolutely love to play drums. I completely did this to myself; I didn't listen to my body and kept playing through the pain, I played for hours on end without a break, did not properly stretch/hydrate/take care of myself. I have been going to a physical therapist and have been getting dry needling done- I have muscle adhesions in the fascia of both forearms that I can actually see protruding from my skin. It has completely changed my life and I live in constant pain. I have tried the age old RICE therapy with minimal results, I have taken a complete break from drums, I stretch and do yoga regularly, etc. Nothing has helped thus far. I am afraid to try things that a specially trained person should be doing but I am also concerned that the money and time spent seeing a physical therapist is only putting a band-aid on the problem. Anyway, I did not intent on writing a novel but I just went through my first routine as explained above and I am looking forward to reporting any successes that I find after doing it for a few days. Thank you for the video and I appreciate you taking the time to offer a free instructional guide to managing this issue at home. Keep it up and thanks again!

I also wanted to add something I learned about the eccentric exercises, specifically the one you demonstrated. I have found it to be problematic to use my own injured forearm to flex the weight at my wrist. I think using my other hand to actually lift the weight to the top position and then lower it slowly is most beneficial. It also makes it a true "eccentric" exercise, because I am only lengthening the muscle with my injured arm and avoiding the flexion that probably caused my problems in the first place. Thanks again!

Me again, sorry to bombard your comment section but I love the idea of the Derma edge. One of our PT modalities is Graston of course but that usually means patients go to a PT. Many don't have time or don't want to spend the money. I'm not a huge fan of cortisone injections, I do them but would rather not. I have a shock wave machine, it's not covered by insurance and is expensive. SWT can be effective but is only one modality and for me is third or fourth line treatment for more stubborn cases. Derma edge would allow my patients to do their own treatments, at home for a reasonable cost. GREAT IDEA!! I will refer my patients to your site if they are interested in that. Once again, thanks

10 months in. I've tried to ignore it and keep going with my calisthenics trainings. Mistake. Now I'm finally going to do something about it. Will try these techniques and ice, but (there is a but) I don't wanna stop my trainings.
    How realistic is that?
Even with pain, can I still do pull-ups and dips, push-ups and chin-ups? Or am I gonna ruin it completely?
How long will I have to stop?
Gains were so hard to achieve, it is difficult to think of stop training completely but I'm starting to get worried.

    • @matthewimi
      @matthewimi 4 роки тому

      @@drkristieennis
Yes! Dry needling worked in the past. June of 2013 I was visiting a friend in Colorado, and a physical therapist friend of hers did a dry needling run on my left piriformis. It was night and day difference for literally a couple of weeks.
I am a disabled veteran, so since the VA has adopted that modality in their list of care, I have been treated by an acupuncturist here in New Jersey for my left arm. Nevertheless, it hasn't helped speed the healing process.
I mean, there's only so much they can do for a torn bicep tendon at the elbow..
And I get the reasoning. Calm the muscle down by releasing tension built up, so it doesn't pull on the tendon so much. However it has not been successful.
The muscles affected are the carpi radialis, and the biceps brachialis. It's so painful!
As far as dry needling for my external rotators, they don't go deep enough with the needles, so very little progress is made. 😟

Lovely Video clip! Forgive me for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you heard the talk about - Parlandealey Flexible Elbow Process (should be on google have a look)? It is a smashing one off product for learning how to cure tennis elbow minus the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my friend at last got astronomical success with it.
