Hey Tim, I’ve had the One for a while , I saved extra stakes by adding some shock cord to the bathtub floor points and using same corner stakes for both main tent and floor...works well , since the shock cord has some give it doesn’t add stress when you lay down etc.. Btw, I love the tent..has held up in major northwest downpours and wind storms ...good luck!
Paul, great review and covers all the real life details. Looking forward to seeing you on trail with the new tent and how it continues to perform. Set up looks really simple. Thx for sharing.
Condensation in the smokeys LOL. no kidding where wet is wet. great review brother I have this tent. IT is excellent for thru hiking. I second others comments, You can attach shockcord to the 4 side stake points to avoid needing additional 4 stakes when staking out the bathtub.
@@goldenblazehikes was just there and did some sections on the at Shenandoah Harpers ferry and smokies. Great place liked it used my big Agnes seed house with custom carbon poles although . I’ll be using the one in late September do sobo Arizona trail. Take care
Nice review! I'm in NC and planning on heading to Smokies :) I did some trapezoid calcs. The One adds up to 15.75 sq. ft. floor area. The Two: 26.25 sq. ft. I've done a lot of solo bp-ing under a tarp - which is roomy. So... I'm hoping I can live in 15.75 sq. ft. since I don't want to carry the extra 5 oz. of the Two!! (And the One is cheaper ) :)
Great overview. I'm a hammock person but still good seeing what you can get from a tent these days. Looks well thought out, easy to setup & the weight (or lack of) sounds great
@@goldenblazehikes Stay with the tent until you ache enough in the mornings from the ground to explore the hammock. Well I guess I also like the flexibility of camp sites. Makes it pretty easy to not plan where to camp.
I sleep great on my NeoAir X-Therm. As a side sleeper, not sure how well the hammock would work. But do like the idea of camping anywhere. That would be awesome.
@@goldenblazehikes I'm a side sleeper and it's exactly why sleeping in a hammock is more comfortable: my hip isn't shoved into hard ground (and I have a thick Exped air pad for when I have to use a tent due to lack of trees).
Good review of a great looking single wall tent. I'll be sticking with my Altaplex for a while since I got so much invested in it. So far liking the DCF fabric, light weight and roomy enough for bringing the pack indoors if need be.
Very good video descriptive for this tent. I liked it so much I just subscribed to your channel and gave you a like. How much does this tent you’re describing costs? What is your favorite shelter? Thank you so much for sharing this video. God bless you.
Do you know if a Nemo Tensor large wide rectangular pad will fit inside the tent? As I understand it is tapered and less wide and quite narrow at the foot end.
Leaving the tent as open as possible definitely helps. Also making sure your sleeping bag is not covering the vent at the feet or the head. Depending on the weather conditions, there is always the possibility for condensation with these single wall tents.
No I have not. Would be interesting to see how it holds up, but not if it destroyed the tent! 😂 Double wall tents are more bomb proof, but obviously a lot heavier. Thanks for watching.
Hey Walter. Tent 503 grams, Sack 10 grams, Clothesline 6 grams, Stakes (supplied by Gossamer are 8 at 11 grams each, minimum 6 for setup), Stake Stuff Sack 4 grams, 2 Extra Chords at 7 grams each. So if carrying their entire kit 625 grams or 22 ounces. This does not include a ground cloth if you plan on using one. Gossamer has a complete breakdown of weights on their website: www.gossamergear.com/products/the-one?variant=30496347596
Great review. How’s the the room for storing your backpack and gear inside? I purchased a Hornet Il in March and I’m pleased with its performance but have been considering the Gossamer one or two for my next shelter or maybe a backup.
Thanks Jerry. I hang the GG G4-20 pack off the trekking pole strap right under the vestibule. It might fit at my feet, but have not tried. Would recommend getting The Two if you want your pack inside the tent. Thanks for watching!
@@goldenblazehikes I used to leave my pack in the vestibule until I brought it inside to pack on a rainy morning and a critter ran out. Needless to say I spilt my coffee that morning.
get a gatewood poncho tarp shelter....covers you, your pack and is a shelter....at 11 ounces.....or 312 grams.....saving not only weight, but valuable space, in a pack....

That was great Tim. thanks.
keep safe out there.

Outstanding overview!
Thanks Grunt! 😁

I’ve been looking into this tent for when I hike the PCT next year. Great review.
Awesome! Thank you!
Awesome review, I signed up for a notification on their website to get one, hopefully the back orders aren’t too long
Thanks! Hope your tent comes in soon.

Yep. We get a ton of rain in this region. Really like the shock cord at the corners advice. Thanks for watching!

Nice review. Looks like the best bang for your buck for 1P UL tent, especially on sale for $240.
Thanks. Still love this tent, hope you enjoy it.
Plenty of headroom is subjective and becomes crucial when condensation is possible. User height and pad thickness is very important.
Great review! Also, awesome attitude. Thanks!

I have thought about trying a hammock. The freedom of campsites would be awesome. My wife would be thrilled at me buying more gear! LoL 😆

Thanks! 😁 Cost is right at $300. This is my favorite shelter due to the weight savings and compact design.
Well done review!
Thanks Tim 😁

Not sure. I use a NeoAir XTherm Max which fits with room to spare. Gossamer Gear has floor dimensions on their website. Thanks for watching!
thanks blaze! good vid!
Thanks Grant! 😁
thanks. regarding the condensation thing, have you noticed if you leave the vents fully open that it won't have condensation?
Leaving the tent as open as possible definitely helps. Also making sure your sleeping bag is not covering the vent at the feet or the head. Depending on the weather conditions, there is always the possibility for condensation with these single wall tents.
Going with this until I can get an xmid. Looks good to me!
Great ultralight tent!
I'm 5'10 which size 13 shoe size would I fit ?
Great video
Thanks David. Unsure.
Question, have you sleep in it during Hail?
If it getts ruined as easy as Zpac original 2 wall tents will still be the winner for me.

18 ounces? Including bag and stakes?

I’d forgot about using the pole to hang it.😄
I like having the pack in the tent, but this is a good compromise.

Inside? In a realy light one person tent? Not gunna happen.
Why didn't you show the floor?
The tent has a typical bath tub style floor. You can see the floor starting at 5:06 of the "Inside the Tent" segment. Thanks for watching.

Why does it have to cost so much? 😢
Unfortunately they are pricey. Thanks for watching
$299 really isn’t that bad compared to other tents in the same weight category. Many go for $4-500
You could do an Al Gore impersonation.
Uh - thanks? LOL 🤣
