The Best Hike - Backpacking Great Smoky Mountains
Hike with me on this incredible 30 mile route through the Great Smoky Mountains. My goal was to put together some of the best views and my favorite trails in the Park. The route starts with a climb up to Mt LeConte on the Alum Cave Trail with visits to the Lodge, Cliff Tops and Myrtle Point. From there the trek takes the Boulevard Trail over to the Appalachian Trail for the most scenic eight mile section of the AT in the park with visits to Charlie's Bunion (both of them) and incredible view after view all the way to Peck's Corner. The next day the hike continues down Hughes Ridge Trail to Bradley Fork where the leaves were in peak autumn color down to Smokemont to complete the trek. Any old steel trestle bridge, waterfalls and a couple of black bears highlight the 2nd day. Multiple camping sites along this route include Mt. LeConte Shelter, Ice Water Spring Shelter, Peck's Corner Shelter and Cabin Flats campsite.

I used a food grade RV hose rubber washer and worked out perfectly. I found that the white flip cap that came with my Sawyer Squeeze leaks so I'm ditching that cap altogether. Some smart water bottles come with a flip cap if that's your thing. I added a runner washer to the smart water cap to make a good seal.

I liked the SC6 for hiking as the heel cup is very stable for foot. I felt this gave me less of a chance of rolling my ankle. Did you also feel it was very stable for running compared to Hoka or kettle trail running shoes? I think those can be to tall and cushy.

I have a pair of the Hoka Clifton's for road running which I love. Tried on the Hoka Speed Goats in the store and they were too stiff to my liking. Occasionally I will roll an ankle while trail running in the Salomon, but they are very low to the ground and grippy.

My brand new toundra pro has a manufacture defect that makes it feel like a shackle around my ankle. Like you said they give you a credit. So if you shipped around and got a good deal you will pay the difference. Despite the warranty saying replace or repair. No consideration for my situation they act as if the defect is my fault. I don't even have approval to send them the boots after a week. I am sorry but they must have known you have a UA-cam channel.

Thanks for watching 😁 Garmin Instinct. Had it for over 2 years and it is awesome for tracking.

Trying to decide between the two, and i still cant make the decision. Id love to cut weight but comfort is important to me. Whats the level of comfort difference between the two? Are we talking splitting hairs or is there Significant difference?

Hey Joseph, personally I did not see a huge difference in the comfort level. The thing I missed the most was pockets on the hip belt. You could try both on at an outfitter with some weight added to see what you think. Thanks for watching.
