I have a pair of the Hoka Clifton's for road running which I love. Tried on the Hoka Speed Goats in the store and they were too stiff to my liking. Occasionally I will roll an ankle while trail running in the Salomon, but they are very low to the ground and grippy.

Never owned the 4s, first pair was 5s. Not a whole lot of difference in the 6s but a tad lighter.

Surprised you can still buy the 4s. I have only owned the 5s and 6s.

That stinks. Have you tried sending them back to the store where you bought them. Places like REI have a 1 year return policy.

@@goldenblazehikes I wrote an email and explained thoroughly the whole situation. They have now made good 100%. I have read their warranty. I also read Lowa's warranty. After many years owning Lowa boots I never had an issue. But bottom line the Lowa warranty is short and plain spoken no comparison. I am going to give the Solomon a chance, they do back up the product. I am happy now.

Not so comfortable on pavement, especially when running. At that point, I typically run along the shoulder.

Could be. Not as much cushion as most hiking shoes.

Definitely some must see sections of the park. If splitting it up, make sure and go to the Jump Off which is off the Boulevard Trail - not too far from the AT intersection.

@@goldenblazehikes I hiked Charlie's Bunion, and the Jump Off last year based on your recommendation from one of your other videos👍. I missed the Smokies this Year, I was in Pisgah and shining rock.

@@goldenblazehikes I mentioned it because several years ago my wife and i were doing a loop from Kepart shelter and were planning to hit Charlie's Bunion. In route we chatted it up with a hiker that told us of another view point from Fodder Stack just as good and way less crowded. Not sure if he mentioned if it was the old C's B

Only could find one youtubers (Tales from the wood booger) reference to Fodder Stack and The Old Charlies Bunion.

Hey Diamond, thanks for the sub. 😁 I have not been on Snake Den yet, believe that is part of the route to Guyot from Cosby. Have not heard of the snake dens in the fall. Sounds like some good Smoky Mountain folk. Will have to do some research

The Cherokee name for snake was INADU.... there's reportedly an INADU ridge the Indians believed held there dens.... I think you're right... approach from the Cosby side..thanks for your response.

It is listed as a trail running shoe via Salomon. It is extremely light. Could be used for hiking but not as cushioned as a typical hiking shoe.

The forest road was good and would not be to good of a concern with meeting other cars. However, the road is gated and closed to cars about 1/2 mile from the Courthouse Fall trail. Thanks for watching

Hey Steve. I always hang my food when not using the bear can. They make it easy in the Smokies as each site has bear cables. Otherwise I use the old string method and hang it from a limb. Thanks for watching!

@@goldenblazehikes they do feel amazingly stable but sometimes I’d like a little more traction in loose dirt or mud. But on wet rocks and wood and roots they have great grip when so many other shoes are dangerously slippery. And as you know our trails are usually wet more than dry. Thx

My bad. At the time this was a stock quilt and pretty sure it is just the 10D. None of the new colors look exactly like mine.

@@goldenblazehikes My fully loaded pack is over 25 lbs easy probably 30lbs+ with winter gear, I may have to look into getting some gossamer gear like yours, that's nice how the tent fits in the side pocket on the outside.

It's a really small pack and would be really tough for winter, but make a great 3 season bag.

Hey Joseph, personally I did not see a huge difference in the comfort level. The thing I missed the most was pockets on the hip belt. You could try both on at an outfitter with some weight added to see what you think. Thanks for watching.
