you should have bought a 7.5 r estate version , blimey does it move , you have 4 wheel drive as well as the r in estate form with the new digital dash , but just one thing to mention that you can buy one without start stop it has the tradigtional key version that i have so nobody can steel it lol. i been driving for 35 years and not a point on my licence but 2 weeks after i bought the golf r estate i got a speeding ticket and 3 points on my licence lol, whoops , i settled down now lol.
The GTI has gone through many, many iterations and not all of them have been great (occasionally losing their way), but it seems VW does listen and corrects their mistakes and keeps on creating some gems. The favorite VW I have owned was a ‘94 Corrado SLC with the narrow-angle V6 😊
Very well edited, try and do a comparison between your Dads mk8 clubsport and the new standard mk8.5 gti ,be interesting to see if they have carried over the dynamics of the clubsport to the base model.
I’ve had many gti’s over the years. Mk1, mk2’s, mk3 and now have a mk5 gti which i love driving. I will go to wolfsburg one day 🤞🏻 i skipped the mk4 as i think it lacks in the way it doesn’t look like a gti.
Fantastic film Amelia, I'm really tempted with the new Gti as they made my go to model the Gtd obsolete, which I'm gutted about ,but I'm not sure about the price tag,it looks fantastic!
My 3 - hated the cloth. Mate had 2 of them, one with leather, one with these seats, and a mk 4 as well. He gave up I; the end as he couldn’t see what th3 fuss was about with gti’s- my dad took him out in his mk 2 for a decent strop down our local down and back drivers a road which has a good mix of twisties and straight bits. He then le5 rob drive the same route - he came back grinning like a loon - he was like “now I get it”.
@@ameliaautomotive No problem definitely looks like a fun adventure, I use to have a Golf mk4 brand new and changed it a Mk8 wish I knew about mk8.5 gti that time it was announced
Mk2 gti best ever mk1 gti dream car, have a mk5 gti love it to the moon and back and it’s just broke coming home from work also have a mk7.5 gti hate the thing it’s so boring and not a proper gti
Am new to your channel Amelia and really loved your coverage on the famous event. Look forward to more. Cheers, Tom
Thank you Tom! ☺️
Nice! I visited Autostadt and the factory a year ago. Fantastic trip!
10:12 "I'll show you how it drives" 😦😧😧😧😦
I’m sure the engine note is pumped in but actually sounds great. Def better than my mk7.5.

What a cool experience to get to drive a GTI to WOLFSBURG to celebrate the 50 years of the GTI. Did you visit the VW Stiftung AutoMuseum?
How come the Mk4 Was not shown, the silver Mk4 looks stunning great example
It was! I just didn’t get a chance to drive it as we all swapped cars throughout the journey ☺️
