Hey Jesse, you’ve been doing booktube for a long while and I wondering if you’d do a video on book cover trends you've noticed through the years. Like, do you think they’ve changed a lot or have they stayed pretty much the same from when you first started to where you are now?
Being behind isn't such a bad thing though; If you're behind, fall in love with a book, the sequels will already be released, so you don't have to anxiously await for it to be released. 😊
The sky blues sounds so good?!! I feel like there are a lot of YA books with forced outing and the character has to deal with all alone so I’m *here* for the classmates coming together and being supportive 🥺
When ur doing a re-read of Six of Crows cuz u havent read CK yet or KoS but ur just anticipating the arrival of Illumicrate's RoW edition to hit ur dorrstep😗😗😗😗😗✌
As a History student who also loves books I love when there are bits of history I have knowledge on in a book so when you said trial by ordeal my ears perked up I'm excited to see where they take that already in my tbr thanks for the inspo jesse
Honestly, King of Scars threw my feelings into a blender as well. I was so hyped (I adored the world and characters because PERFECTION) but then the magic system was really ruined? Small Science was one of my favourites, but the whole “breaking self-imposed boundaries” thing (which is sth I love as someone struggling with a lot of mental health issues) but it was done so bad? I can't even begin to explain how ridiculous it was. That's not how it's done. That's not realistic. I expected so much more from Leigh Bardugo but every thing in that book was so underdeveloped-the twist about the world and magic and Saints, the blooming romance that had no chemistry, the theme of faith and magic and all that, Nikolai's journey (or lack thereof-where was he?). I'm starting to feel like Six of Crows was Leigh's swan song and she'll never reach those highs again, not even outside of the Grishaverse. Like, as an avid adult dark fantasy reader who readers YA just for fun, I found even Ninth House lackluster. So much potential, such fabulous vibe, but poor plot and exploration of dark themes, not to mention the droning on and on about the list of purchases of every building.
I also had mixed feelings about King of Scars but you NEED to read Rule of Wolves, it definitely makes up for it! Can't wait to hear your thoughts after you finish it
He started talking about the sky blues and as soon as he was done I went straight over to Amazon and ordered it. I'm so excited to read it bc usually when there's an lgbt component in a book it has sadder undertones, they aren't as wholesome.
lycanthropy and other chronic illnesses sounds like a book with great rep, but a lot of south asian readers have found it offensive. @/bookstagramrepresent on instagram has more details about this (you can find the info under the highlight "WTF IS THIS"). to sum it up, lycanthropy was written by a white author about a poc, and the said poc is compared to a werewolf on the cover, which is reflective of the harmful stereotype that south asians are overly hairy. if you're able, you should check out the ig account and their highlight, because they explain it way better than i do. just wanted to let you know!
With the way it ended and zoya hinting towards needing kaz who knows we just might get one (i really hope that happens or another duology even who knows)
yeah the end of king of scars was... but rule of wolves was so good! it felt like there were a few ooc moments, but other than that, i really enjoyed it!!
I was late to the party of finding out that Lemony Snicket has wrote another book, and I am READY even though I haven't read the All the Wrong Questions Series yet!
Jesse calling Leigh Bardugo, “Queen Bardugo,” is a whole mood. I could live with hearing that all day and night long. Also, he’ll enjoy Rule of Wolves. Nikolai is a mood in of himself. I love Nikolai! 🥰😍✨
Yes, definitely reread King of Scars before getting into Rule of Wolves. But that book is sooooo good! I'm only 200 pages in but OMG it's amazing! I already love it so much ^^
You should read Arabic books translated to English I couldn’t recommend any because I don’t know if the translation does it justice but you should try any I really want to see your reaction to it
ok i haven't read the diviners yet but the cost of knowing sounds like it, if I'm right? its it like if the mc touches something, they see the memories of the person who owned the object? LOL I MIGHT BE 100% WRONG but that's what I've heard !!
My tbr is growing so fast now, and i’m kinda in a little reading slump, so its... its bad. But the excitement of wanting to read is still everything• .•
You may want to do more research about how Southasian people feel about Lycanthropy and other Chronic Illnesses. They are saying it’s cultural appropriation and hurtful.
The shirt you're wearing is I *believe* an Indian Kurta (especially if it's knee-length) and well it'sa bit too loose for you hence the pocket is going towards the pit😂 It's essentially used to hone a flower/pocket piece. Most men keep a bit of cash/license there too for easy access I guess😂🤷♀️
The title gives the spoiler away probably but Lycanthropy and other Chronic Illnesses still sounds really fun! Better than the Movies sounds also promising, looking forward to your opinion on it since I am not a fan of romance books either 😬
I'm really looking forward to Son of the Storm by Suyi Davies Okungbowa, which is a Nigerian (I think) inspired adult fantasy. And you've mentioned wanting to dive into that genre, so it might possibly be of some interest to you maybe?
As a long time fan and a fellow ball of anxiety, I just want to say I'm proud of you and especially for how real you show yourself on the yuptubs. You're doing great 💕
