I completely understand where you’re coming from with Bridge of Clay. It was a very confusing read, but I found myself intrigued by the characters so I think that’s what kept me going through slow points in the plot. Luckily, near the end I had an epiphany about the story and it suddenly just clicked with me. I totally understand how it’s confusing though because I was confused for a good half of it 😂😂

I am the Messenger is my favorite book by him (and of all time)! It's about a cab driver who accidentally stops a bank robbery and then starts getting playing cards in the mail with addresses on them. He has to figure out 1. what to do with the addresses 2. who is sending them and 3. why are they being sent to him. The narrator is a really funny character and his best friend is a big stinky dog named The Doorman who only drinks coffee. I highly recommend it!

OH GOD FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE DIDN'T LIKE BRIDGE OF CLAY. I did a whole rant video a few years ago and UGH IT WAS SO.. WHAT EVEN HAPPENED??? Typically I like the weird, nonsensical types but this read like a bunch of random words thrown together. I genuinely felt like I was reading a language I only briefly knew??
I REALLY wanted to love Bridge of Clay as much as I loved The Book Thief, but I need to reread Bridge of Clay because I barely remember anything from it! I guess the themes didn’t land perfectly for me. I do remember liking the parents’ backstory the most though.
How Jesse felt about "Every you, every me" was excactly how I felt about this book "Varjonyrkkeilijä" (Shadowboxer). The only charecter trate the main charecter had was "victim" (The only charecter given any personality was a boxing coach, who on their freetime sexually assaulted girls he was paid to train. So that should out some things into a perspective). I also could not put the friken book down, despite is being the worst book I've read last year, but that was because The writing style of the author Inga Magga, was SO beautiful. Everyone Ive talked to about this book, has loved it, and I have no-idea why.

Just found this channel and subscribing, but I like your mentality, having books you didn't like but was invested enough to finish and notice what they do right and wrong. Mad respect. What were your thoughts on A Deadly Education?
One of my 'didn't like it but finish it anyway' of 2020 was Race to the Bottom of the Sea by Lindsay Eagar. The writing style, the description of places, weather(storm since it sets mostly at ship sailing seas) were so beautiful. Some characters I actually liked them. But the storyline sucks
Great vid as always. I had almost read a bridge of clay years ago because I loved the Book Thief so much. I had it on my hands for a month or so from the library but ended up taking it back because I didn't know when I would actually read it. Never saw it again. Haha. I have a few books I was disappointed by. 'Girl, Srpect and Thorn,' 'a curse so dark and lonely,' and "shadown and Bone." yes, I know... all popular or decently books. popular books. There could be another but I can't recall anything else I nthe top of my head. oh! I tried Red Queen and ended up DNF'ing it. sorry to fans of these popular books... I tried. They were not bad, just not for me.
Worst book I read this year: A Darkling Plain by Philip Reeve. That's all I'm gonna say, because if I say anymore, my rant will be longer than that Markus Zusak book Jesse didn't like.
Took a long reading hiatus last year so didn't get many read. But there was only like 2 that deserve the worst list. The dragon bone chair, but being unbelievably dull and slow to get through anything. Then dreadful tale of prosper redding, just couldn't help itself in it's last half from begging me to throw it across room. 🤣

hi, jesse! what a pity that you didn't enjoy these books, but only 4 is a great number when this issue is concerned. i wish you a lovely 2021 full of great books and good things in life! kisses😍
There was only one book that I gave a failing rating (below 3/5) and that is Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. I already filmed a reading vlog with my experience and thoughts.
My 3 worst books of 2020: Vicious by V. E. Schwab (I know I’m an unpopular opinion with that one) the 7 deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton and Midnight sun by Stephenie Meyer. I hated every single part of this stories, for me they had great ideas but super bad execution ☹️
@Addison Brianna I know, right? Like don’t get me wrong, he’s a phenomenal writer, I’ve read this small book by him called The Bazaar of Bad Dreams but the actual horror novels are TERRIFYING just to look at. I’m scared because they’re too much of a commitment and/or task to take up !
Book that made me so upset at how much I hated it was Scythe. Wich is such an unpopular opinion, but that book bored me to tears, it was so predictable, the romance was so bland and made me roll my eyes, all the characters were super dry and blend... eh really pissed me off. Gave it two stars just because the whole world of a scythe seemed cool just in my opinion wasn't executed very well. But that's probably just me since everyone else seems to love this book.
I DNF'ed Every you, every me years ago (even after going for a sneak peak to see if the end was worth it - it was not) so not surprised by that one! I think that the format drew me in, but big disappointment - which to this date I'm still confused about because David Levithan is such a solid author ???!!!
I don't think I've read any really bad books last year, just books that disappointed me a bit. "The Vanishing Deep" had an interesting concept but didn't explore it enough, in my opinion. Also, the ending was kind of annoying (I can't really say more without spoiling anyone). The story of "One of Us is Next" was just forgettable. Seriously, I remember the story of "One of Us is Lying" but couldn't give you a summary of the sequel. "The Liar's Sister" - again, more of a bland story, boring conclusion.
I'm sitting here like "I don't have a worst book." But I totally forgot A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes existed sooooo.... That should tell you what I thought of it.
My worst book of 2020: we were liars. There I said it. I'm sorry if this is someone's fav book but I honestly did not cry and was confused most of the time 😂. Also I didn't get attached to the characters nor the story :(
My worst read of 2020 was Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. I read the book knowing that it had very mixed reviews, but it was worse than I thought.
… dot dot dot DOT DOT DOT 😂my most disappointing/worst book I read in 2020 is stalking jack the ripper. As a true crime junkie, I had a high expectation for this book since it inspired by a real life serial killer but I ended up wanting to throw the book across the room after I finished it 💀
The most disappointing read of 2020 for me was The Betrothed by Kiera Cass (the author of The Selection) and becauce I loved The Selection a lot, the experience from The Betrothed made me really sad...😭

But they are easy to get through. Don't let the size scare you.
@Addison Brianna Pet Sematary. It is not that big and it has a very dark atmosphere. It is fast paced too. Give it a try. =)
@Addison Brianna No problem. =) Let me know what you think of it if you want to.
@@shazmatazz6769 You will be surprised. =)
Lmao you made my night with your song
Have you ever read The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer trilogy?? It’s a thriller series I thought maybe you might like it, lol. Loved the video!😌
I have seen it, haven’t bought it yet, do u think I should?
@@LemonCloud_Productions Definitely!! I didn’t know anything about the book either, I just went for it and it is amazing!!
I loved bridge of clay the first 50 pages were a mess but I really enjoyed Penelope's story
Hi Jesse aka king of booktube! Great video as always 💚
Take a shot of water every time Jesse says "weird"
I don't think I've read any really bad books last year, just books that disappointed me a bit. "The Vanishing Deep" had an interesting concept but didn't explore it enough, in my opinion. Also, the ending was kind of annoying (I can't really say more without spoiling anyone).
The story of "One of Us is Next" was just forgettable. Seriously, I remember the story of "One of Us is Lying" but couldn't give you a summary of the sequel.
"The Liar's Sister" - again, more of a bland story, boring conclusion.
I'm sitting here like "I don't have a worst book."
But I totally forgot A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes existed sooooo....
As a true crime junkie, I had a high expectation for this book since it inspired by a real life serial killer but I ended up wanting to throw the book across the room after I finished it 💀
keeps his channel "Juicy Juicy" , he reads that book!!!
Hey Jesse!
The most disappointing read of 2020 for me was The Betrothed by Kiera Cass (the author of The Selection) and becauce I loved The Selection a lot, the experience from The Betrothed made me really sad...😭
I wasn’t a big fan of Cursed by Thomas Wheeler
same!! i really wanted to like it because its so hyped up but i just wasnt that into it :/
omg so I've finally gotten around to reading Percy Jackson and I am now realizing you look a lot like Percy lol
Waiting for the BEST BOOKS OF 2020!
