Terrific video Paul. Amazing what y'all accomplished in 3 hours of plugging! Best wishes for successful growth in your new lawn. We're looking forward to seeing the updates. Sharing on Facebook.
I bought one of those pluggers you used last year and I think this weekend I'm going to take Zeon plugs from my good areas and install in the weaker areas. We finally will have some sun and heat You had lots of help on your project and it was a lot of work. I'll be appreciative to see the outcome of this project.
Paul, good to see you. Sorry about the grub damage your grass was really nice. Look forward to seeing the rate of establishment. Why not Compadre? Keep us posted on your progress.
Do you think the grass that died was damaged by the Triclophyr and Fusilade treatments you used to arrest the bermuda. I've tried it a couple of times on my Zeon but we haven't had ideal weather in Charlotte for the zoysia to take off, but it doesn't look great in most sections of my yard. Thanks!
It was too localized for it to be herbicide damage. During drought we get localized dry spots and if not watered they grow in size and if severe enough, turns brown. We were in the heat of summer and in a bad drought so I just let it go. After it finally rained it didn’t come back. Pull test indicated root feeding insects so we dug a few spots in the transitions and it was loaded with small grubs.
@@NCGrassPlugs treated my lawn for grubs the first time in early May and was amazed by all the dead grubs showing up everywhere. I'll always stay on spring and fall treatments for now on.
If i install zoyzia plugs in the fall in Florida, will they come back in the spring? I don't expect much to spread. But I'd like to accomplish all the hard labor when it's a little cooler out. I'm by myself and work a lot. What are your thoughts?
I have Zoysia Japonica in my front yard here in Maryland, do you recommend that I try to stick with that or can I mix another type of zoysia to fix some completely weed covered areas?
Japonica encompasses many cultivars, do you know what you have? They all look very similar but Zoysia Matrella is going to be fine bladed varieties like Zeon or Emerald. I would stick with a Japonica
Thank you for the tip, just getting into this! I don’t, just got this house earlier in the spring. Any good trick to telling them apart? With everything I’ve seen online, I can’t tell the difference between them other than Meyer seemingly being thicker than others
@@VapersRecruit figure out if it was from seed or sod. Compadre and Zenith are the only seeded cultivars. What sod farms are nearby and look up what they offer and see if you can narrow it down.
Just seeing this vid. The best part for me was the time lapse of your dog making sure everyone kept working.
She’s an attention hog
Glad to see you back. I still need to come by and see your operation since you've been there a while.

Compadre…. I need a more shade tolerant variety and one that will fill in a little faster. Also, I am out of Compadre right now.
Would you please show a close up picture of a properly planted plug.
I will do this in the next follow up video.

@@cdavidhord I never really had a problem so I didn’t treat for grubs in the Spring. Big mistake! We used Imidacloptid this year.
How many plugs was this total
