Wondering if you can help me. Looking to take a round trip taxi from Kajuraho to Kalinjar fort. Can you tell me approximately what you paid and if possible the name of the taxi company. Thanks in advance!

@@Dr.Mzungu I don't remember exactly, maybe around $50 for a taxi from Khajuraho to Chitrakoot one way. It wasn't with a taxi company but with a local person who I found through my hotel. So you can just ask at your hotel and they should be able to arrange something.

Great videos, i've spent about a year over ten trips travelling all over india, and loved visiting these small little out of the way places like this. India always has the ability to amaze, no matter how much you have seen of it. i haven't been here, it looks well worth a look

Wonderful to see a video on the places less travelled in India. It can be a challenge getting between places but the unexpected experiences can provide lifetime memories. Mine is looking at a family's small buffalo herd and then the next moment I'm inside their house sipping warm buffalo milk surrounded by family and neighbours anxious to have a selfie.
    Really enjoying this series

Seeing the ruins of the fort and the palace of Raja Aman Singh reminded me of Ozymandias by PB Shelley -
    "My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

India is constructing 37km of road every day and UP where you didn't encounter too much traffic this time is constructing the most expressways in India. So things are getting streamlined but it will take at least 10 more years for India to have a satisfactory level of road and railway infrastructure.
And if you go to Varanasi then visit "Khirkiya ghat or Namo Ghat". This ghat is under construction but still is the most beautiful ghat in Varanasi.

hi gabriel welcome back to india. have been watching your channel off and on for 4-5 years or may be a little more. I think, today there are many "circuits" from delhi. one could be delhi-mathura-vrindavan-agra-gwalior-jhansi (there is a good fort in jhansi+its famous for rani lakhsmi bai who faught against the british occupation & a symbol of women empowerment in india, you missed it in this trip).
from jhansi either to to chitrakoot-kalinjar-khajuraho-panna (diamond mines + capital of bundelkhand in later times)-rewa (capital of rewa state)-satna (many factories)-prayagraj (famous university+spiritual center)+vindhyachal (famous temple)-mirzapur (also spelt meerjapur - bhadohi (carpet capital of uttar pradesh)-varanasi-sarnath.
an expressway is almost near completion which connects to agra expressway and lands in chitrakoot. in this can one can visit delhi-agra-bateshwar temples (near etawah)-chitrakoot-kalinjar-khajuraho-prayagraj etc. maybe in return journey go through lucknow via purvanchal expressway from varanasi then lucknow-agra expressway to agra then yamuna expressway to delhi all by volvo / luxury bus or suv.
The region you are in is vindhya range. It is ancient landmass very rich in minerals. In ancient times, it was source of iron ore, diamonds. Besides, the route you are taking is part of ancient trade route from north part of india to central india eventually to sea ports. Incidentally, it is also somewhat aligning to ancient route take by lord ram during is exile period. From prayagraj (allahabad) you may take shringverpur route (via pratapgarh) to ayodhya (birthplace of lord ram) then to lucknow back to delhi.
for instance, check this out: swarajyamag.com/culture/uttarapath-and-dakshinapath-the-great-trade-routes-of-jambudwipa
But i have to say, you have covered india like no other traveller. Like the explorers of 16th century. of not with the intention of colonisinng ;-)

Hi Gabriel, The Chandela dynasty rule central India for over 500 years between the 9th and 13th centuries AD. At one point in time, there were over 120 temples today about 20 temples remain to show tourists these incredible treasures. I have to ask you if there is a divide among people there between the past the present there seems to be a movement away from the past giving the way to progress and treating the past as many mistakes to learn from but not to go back to that the adoption of western values has taken hold and has forgone the past as old mystic relics of a bygone era?

I find it allot of Indias 🇮🇳 names related to pre BC. And allot of them were visited by ALEXANDERS SOLDIERS Occupation. See the Flowers of the SUN 🌞 carvings? U cam find the same in Old Maçedonian Empire buildings. From Albania 🇦🇱 to India.
That must have had the middle full of whater and pool.. likes of( VIRAN A SI)
Ask The people you just visit about these names meanings? Likes of (VIRAN) A SI? Or (PARA DESH) (ULE KAR) THEY Must have been visited by ALEXANDER and his soldiers? Or PIERIA? EPERIA.

      @@dd0356... That's a fact as well. But?
As soon as you look at the names, calling of those places? They are either directly or indirectly involved with Alexander's conquest. I find that interesting as well
NAKED STATUES- PRA DESH - PARA DESH - FRONT NAKED.
Or ? Ulecar I think 🤔 is spelled this way? Means: SITING NAKED ON d**** U know what I mean. How can that be?

lmao.... Alexander never crossed punjab, when he learned about The mighty Nanda empire, his soldiers due to exhaustion returned . this is the central part of India, so there is nothing to do with Alexander and it's conquest.
moreover Varanasi is 8000 years old and is considered as one of the oldest city in the world , Romans and greeks came a lot lot much later.
varanasi is named after two river Varuna and Asi .
there is no relation except Mauryan Emperor Chandragupta maurya married daughter of Alexander's general seleucus nicator and he gave Afghanistan as a gift (dowry) to Chandragupta.

The architecture in Lucknow is not Persian. It looks nothing like the buildings you would find in Iran or Uzbekistan. The architectural styles is called Awadhi and it was developed as a post-Mughal style of architecture. It contains heavy Rajput, Jat and Bundeli influences as well.
