The Hindu Aarti Fire Ceremony on the Ganges | Ep9 Varanasi Uttar Pradesh | Travel India on $1000

- Episode 9 - Experiencing the sacred death ceremony in Varanasi in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. We take the boat out of the Holy Ganges river to reflect on our journey.
We tried to book into a better class of train for the overnight sleeper (we even thought about booking first class ) But alas things went wrong so the journey was another slog.
BUT... once we arrived we could instantly tell we were in a very holy and important place within the culture and religion of India.
As unkowning westerners we witnessed the 'Ganga Aarti Ceremony' The burning of the bodies next to the river. Which left us speechless and taught us so much about life and death.
We hope you enjoy this video, use it as a travel guide to Varanasi if you are coming here as this video has tons of awesome insights and places to see and do.
Enjoy and see you next week for our FINAL episode of Series 3.
We hope you enjoy this documentary series and our travels in India. Don't forget to Subscribe and share this series with your travel buddies if you do.

There will hopefully be 4 more miniseries from now until Series 4, so plenty to look forward to.
Should we go full-time???
Yes definitely yes !!
100% FULL TIME PLEASE!!!!!
Yes
Yes pleaseeee
Hell yes!! I thoroughly enjoy you guys travelling the world together on all these series. You guys should do this AT LEAST twice a year 👌🏾.
My next suggestion for series 4 would be either South Africa or Brazil. Stay awesome guys! 🙌🏾
-Love from NYC 🗽
I've been in more than 70 countries and when people ask the inevitable question of what my favorite country is...I usually answer with India (I was there twice and spent 3 months there each time - first in 1988-89 and again in 1996). You captured a lot of the essence of the place and Varanasi was a perfect place to end the series. You were 100% right that India is a very intense place to travel but it's totally worth it. Thanks for taking me back to India with you.
Glad you enjoyed the videos :)
Wow ...I was born in 1996😂
that crazy sir..i was born in 89! India has changed a lot in last 30 years! but still the culture luckily preserved..for thouands of year!
@Jin Amarasinghe Sri Lanka was definitely on my list of countries I wanted to visit but I haven't been outside of the US since 2001 and never made it there.
Love from India 🇮🇳
Literally the most underrated channel ever, you guys deserve so much more recognition! This is the best travel series I’ve ever watched and I don’t want it too end!
Leah Dutton .. True true #VeryTrue
They should get a regular from Amazon prime or Netflix.
Devansh Das wtf..😑
So true😢
That's coz it's properly edited like a real TV show.
Varanasi is the oldest living city in the world. Really brave of you guys to move around in General class. Most Indians will shy away cz of the crowded nature of it and lack of much facility.
It sure is crowed

I was there in 2010, totally mesmerized by the Ganga Aarti, so I went to watch it two evenings in a row.

First i watched ur indian vlogs than after that visited to budgeteers thanks kara and nate
Can't believe it's over again! This was one of my favourite episodes of the series! I left with an appreciation for life as well 💕

I legit cried! such an amazing series! booking my trip to india next year for sure!!!!!!!!!!
Omfg. Chanced upon this channel. I was a TV producer before in Singapore. And I can tell you that your content tops anything I’ve seen in this part of the world. It’s safe to say your content is even better than some of the shows on discovery and even UA-cam. Surprised you’re not selling your content to multi platforms. Regardless, content creation is no longer in the hands of studios and networks. You guys are proof positive of that. I’m binge watching after I send this message off. And if you’re ever up to hang in Bangkok HMU.
Thanks so much
Noooooooo! I’m NOT ready for this series to be over! Excited for next week’s bloopers!

I am so sorry to hear that this series is coming to an end. I enjoyed this episode in particular & have seen many other vlogs who have covered Varanasi but this one I particularly enjoyed. I do hope that you will be able to meet up occasionally & travel together in the future. You clearly have a great fondness for one another & are great travel mates. Love your work - looking forward to your next trip together when ever that may be - take care & get home safe.
So happy to hear you enjoyed it. Big love x

I can't thank you guys enough for this wonderful series that truly overwhelmed me. It was very nice to listen to your discussions and see you daring to do stuff that we Indians don't really imagine doing (long journey in luggage car? NOOO!). Your videography quality is top class, the sounds you added gel so well with the beautiful views and your coverage of places in India is commendable. Thank you for visiting our country. Can't wait for series 4.
Thanks so much dude 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

The Budgeteers well thank you guys for all your hard work with editing and making the series what it is. I have been inspired and I’m sure I’m not alone. Amazing job.
A friend has suggested me to go to Varanasi and watch the cremation, he said it made him understand the fragility of human life. I will do that some day. Keep making such great videos, you guys ! It makes me a bit sad that there's just one more video to come in this series, but I really appreciate how you have braved all odds and travelled every place you wanted, despite so much problems with trains. Kudos !
Thanks so much for watching
Do visit South India next time. Keep another 5 weeks to get a glimpse.
Can't believe three people from different countries coming together n visiting India which itself has different people with different castes and religious staying together .... ❤️
What an incredibly magical & surreal vlog this was. WOW. The 3rd series can legit be on NetFlix or something. You guys did such an incredibly job of capturing the essence of Varanasi with this vlog... its shocking in your face impact.. its sublime & deeply meaningful beauty. Gonna MISS you guys a lot. Hope you somehow find time to make vlogs in South India, North-East India.. and even North India, higher up than Manali. BEST OF LUCK for series 4. #PS- BTW.. from 30K to 52K over the course of this series.. not bad. #KUDOS
thank you so much!!!! we loved it all!
Next Series :- India continued ... there's more to explore ... clues : north-east india, middle india, south india and for sure far top most north India eg: highest tea stall in the world 😜 . Bonus : after that you could literally walk into Nepal from where it borders India , with a visa though but still it would be great first for budgeteers to walk or on a tuktuk/bus into another country 😀 👍 😘
S J You don't need a visa to enter Nepal from India. There are dozens of Countries where you don't require a visa to enter from India though I'm not sure if it's exclusively for Indian Nationals.
Yash Tiwari Bro It's only for Indian And Nepalese citizens who could enter each other's country without visa.
Lol I have a present for you. Watch their Central America trip
Yash Tiwari indians don't need visa to go to Nepal but they are not Indians they need visa to enter in nepal
Yeah guys! The reason why I wrote that I wasn't sure if that's something exclusive for Indian citizens.
Such a beautiful journey. Watching this kinda made me sad at the same time. Being in this pandemic.I wonder how we can experience the world like this again
Loved this series. Felt quite sad that it’s ended. Can’t wait for your next one and will now go back and watch series 1 & 2

You should also visit southern part of India.. because it has a totally different culture than the northern part...the architecture of temples is different... Food is different!
Please do visit the the southern most tip of India, peaceful backwaters of Kerala, south India temples like Tirupati temple, Mennakshi temple.
Finally found someone who wants to show temples of south instead of spreading hate and saying come to south and eat beef
I agree. I feel i have only seen only a little bite of a great country. To sad they couldn't go on.
We would love to go there
top trending videos huh here that beef shit is not a issue at least in Andhra and Tamil nadu ...
And the ancient capital city of Hampi of the Powerful Vijayanagara Empire.
You guys are very much appreciated here. These vlogs are unbelievably well shot and edited, but I have to admit it's your different/fun personalities that make them over the top amazing. Thank you very much for another great season!
So sad this one has to end :/ This series has been absolutely stunning in every sense of the word. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this series and I honestly do believe this is your best one yet. For future series please do it in the fashion of slowing down and really taking in each country as you did in this one. It’s so nice to see the beauty and unique qualities of each location you guys visit. So excited for the bonus episode!
Yeah we agree! Taking it slow is best!!

Haha thats amazing scott, entire series 3 in 1day 😂 thanks for your nice comment and enjoy our other series
This episode is very beautifully presented. You guys just actually saw through what India stands for. I must appreciate the general class train travel you guys made for nearly 16-18hrs.
Guys i have seen many foreigners travelling to India and making vlogs but yours is by far the best i have seen. When people travel to India they have some reservations in mind which keeps them from feeling the real India. You guys enjoy your time to the fullest and thats what makes you different.
Those cinematic shots and hindi music in the background icing on the cake. keep it up.

awwww!! love you xx
Varanasi is Jerusalem of Hinduism , Jainism and Buddhism but with one difference no fighting there to capture religious sites like in Jerusalem
Thank you for such a serene experience of my country.. I know it is always so noisy and in your face but it also have some nice and quiet places, one only has to search. Your amritsar and himalayan video was awesome, and taking trains that too general class to travel from one place to another is one of the gutsy move anyone can take in India. Although it would take almost a year to travel India thoroughly But I think you have travelled enough to qualify as the semi expert tour guide for India. One has to be thick skinned and tough both mentally and physically to travel here.
Good luck for the journey back home, love you guys.
semi expert YES!!!!!! hahah xx
Hey guys , the next time u plan to visit India , u should explore THE best express super first class AC trains 😁
Yes , it can be difficult to travel here because of the number of people ,the noise, the delays etc.
But we Indians are just happy with however little we have ( this was purely
Philosophical-not that we don’t aim to reach higher or for better) , we are very welcoming , people always help you regardless of language barrier . Just live the moment !
We are not perfect but there is always something good u will leave with.
Thank you so much guys . You guys are doing amazing work !! Love your Work . Please do visit India again may be the north east and south this time 😊
P.s the stares is a bad habit but please do not take it as an ogle kind of stares . It is just the curiosity and skin colour that is mind boggling to most 😂 ( except for the perverts )

Indian Yogic culture prerequisite for a seeker of truth (or a student) is meditating at places where bodies are burnt daily. So that it sinks into the student's mind that the life is too short. So that the student starts inquiring and asking the right question and begin to seek for answers through DHYAN (a process which is vaguely equivalent to meditation).
Where ever you go, keep us in your heart.
A very happy goodbye.

I’m off to visit all the amazing friends I made and then I’ll be back in Asia in January! Thanks for doing this, sending you all love and luck with all your future plans xoxox
You made India look more beautiful than it actually is . All three of you are so sporting and accept things which actually are . We as Indians need to much more to welcome and help all our guests for a safe and beautiful trip . 😊

Almost got tears by the end. But then all good things must come to an end.
And so did this one, right in the heart.
Great work Lina, Thijs and Paddy. Cheers to your friendship, travel tales and work.
And though a bit tough for you guys, but it'd be a delight to see you go full time.
All the best for love and life and COME BACK TO INDIA SOON!
