I worked for NCDOT in 1979. I swear that's my truck, color and all. Good times.
I just love the way you guys do this. I see so many hacks who just want to hook up a battery and start cranking right away. You always take the time to do things carefully and your great results speak for themselves.
Thank you so much for that 😊 We’re trying our best to rescue and preserve these rigs.
Now THAT'S a find! You hit the jackpot with this one 👌🏻
Michael, you are hysterical! Tappy-Taps???!!!??? That's one I've never heard before! Really enjoyed seeing you bring this Ol' Mopar back from the dead!!!
😅😅 Haha! I’m really glad you enjoyed!!
Already loving this project revival! 🥰🥰 Looking forward to seeing you all bring this sweet old Dodge back all the way! 🥰🥰
Good Job on that Firebird Dump Truck lmao 🤣🤣🤣 look forward to seeing more.
Some people say that it's a good idea to run an engine first for a bit to warm it up to get any sludge mixed up and out with the oil change.
I do agree with that statement. With a motor that has been sitting for so many years, most of the crud will be in the bottom of the pan. It also gives me a chance to check for metal flakes etc. Once we change the oil and run it for a bit, we’ll change it again. That’ll then help clean out the sludge and all. I simply do it out of habit, although it’s not necessary. Oil is cheap, compared to an engine.
@@BudgetBuildz This is true!
Magic goo😂 iam coining that one michael! Lol love this video!
Haha! 😅 Glad you enjoyed!! 😊
318 are good old faithful engines. They were put in everything for a long time for a reason.
Another BRILLIANT find!!! What is there NOT to love about a Tonka-colored dump truck???!!! Only one wheel is locked up, so I hope you get to drive this one to the land fill and drop off some junk. She is BEGGING for employment! Cheers!!!
Wow what a cool ole work truck y’all rescued …
GREAT VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS..AWSOME TRUCK.. WE NEED TO SEE PART 2... SHOW US THAT BED IN BACK. COOL OIL IT UP.. GREAT BODY AND PAINT JOB..
Man great job getting her started! That’s one cool Dodge dump truck!
Glad you took steps to get the oil pressure up and prevent a dry start after setting that long!
such a small truck , just right for shows , and trips to the shops !
Built in seats (inner fenders) for sitting and working on it... god I love the old trucks!
They just don’t make them like they used to!!
If this thing was govt' owned like you said, you know it worked hard, but was always well kept. Good buy. Even here you can see how it came back to life with only a carb rebuild, which today is one thing that shows real mechanic's skills.
Those 318's and the 225 slant six (tower of power) were two of the BEST engines Chrysler ever made. Economical and very reliable.
That thing would make an awesome wrecker/tower/hauler.
It could useful day to day when you fix the brakes....Jeez, you guys have such nice weather already, so jealous...🤔😳😏🇬🇧
Really nice unit. Nice simple & cheap mechanical/parts.
Thanks! We’re excited to get it dialed in and back to work!
What a wonderful find! This old girl should be given the love she needs then put back to work. She'll be good for a lot more loads.
Love Budget Builds who couldn't never can tell what will come in next 😁💟
Thank you for your APPRECIATION to your subscribers and for sharing
We wouldn’t be here without each and everyone of you all!!! 😊
Anxious to see how the truck turns out. You can always use a dump truck around the propery!
Good job, I resurrected an old D500 dump myself several years ago. You might find that all the rubber flexible brake lines and the one for the clutch line will have to be replaced as they swell up inside choking off all the fluid flow. Anyway, good luck, I have a few videos of it on my site if interested. 👍
Michael remember our conversation last year about a barn or unit .your gonna been a museum soon ...or another barn. Great find. But of black paint on the rusty steel, its a work horse
Yeah..I believe you’re right 😁 We’ve got a bit of a collection! Thanks! Sounds like a plan.
You and your dad make it fun to watch
A dump truck with a gas V8, and not even a big block. That's cool, and something I've never seen before. 👍
Pro tip on old Mopars: always carry a spare ballast resistor.
Pro-tip just haul dodges straight to the junkyard 😊
And a few spare Rockers and push rods. lol
@@samholdsworth420 im sorry youre not good enough to work on them
@@frigglebiscuit7484 😂 this is a kind of response I was expecting I'm just kidding hehe
@samholdsworth420 go work on on your ricer.😂
Great surprise Michael and Dad.....love your channel....kid and wife friendly.....and local here in the Upstate.....thankee neighbor.
Cool looking old truck! Something you don't see that often. I like it
Another knock it of the park choice…
Thank you for the V8 special!
I enjoyed the picture show.
I’m glad you enjoyed 🙂
Love the Dodge dumptruck!
I love this mini stubby dump truck
I would love to see you fix this up including the interior and throw a paint job on it and put it to use. You can get your money out of this one for sure. Unique and nice buy for you to make some great content
way to go THE MOST IN DEPTH rebuild...even rebuilt the KEY!! lol great job guys keep it up pls!
Great start. Yes got some noisy lifters. Maybe after running awhile they will quite down. Thanks for sharing 👊💯
Always brings a big smile to see you guys fire each one up. And a great vid as alwaays
When dealing with old dodge trucks it’s best to just go ahead and replace everything electrical before u even get started in my experience, or at least have a spare starter relay and voltage regulator and ignition module and whatnot ready and sitting there because something isn’t gonna work. Super cool truck! That thing is kinda rare, u don’t see a d600 every day.
Stellar Video Guys!!!!!
.................................
I ask you, "...who wouldn't want to watch a 'Will It Run' video about a 70's stubby dump truck, especially an old DODGE?"
Watching you from the U.K Michael. Always champing at the bit for the next video. Great content in every edition.
Tc finds has the same exact truck but no dump bed it sat for 23 years also theese trucks could be brothers!!😮💗
Greetings from Sydney Australia. This came up in my feed so I subscribed. Love these kind of videos. I have a 1966 Holden. Yeh it drives and is registered. Loves a sunny day cruise
Nice truck with History and class.
Can you do a classic old school bus like gmc or Chevy or Ford or international just asking my friend .. you have the totally awesome UA-cam channel keep up the good work my friend 👍 😀
Thought this was supposed to be about a fire bird , but none the less a good video.
Great old truck. Nice to see her running.
Thanks! We’re excited to put it to work!
I have a '72 D500 I'm fixing up so it's interesting seeing what is the same and what is different around the truck. Thankfully no electronic ignition control box, but the same "fun" rear brake cylinders to replace this summer.
Wow I do believe this is same truck that I seen in my area great solid truck.
Got you a real work horse👍👍!
It’s ALWAYS the ignition module lol
Owned a D100 and I swear to god I went through 7 of them
One thing I always liked about those old carters with the plate on top of the bowel, is you can adjust the metering rods and pump while on the truck for your driving needs
Great vid! Looking forward to this one coming out like a peach.
i got a 1966 D500 with a holmes wrecker on it had been sitting for 20 years it also started right up
Woo hoo! Nice Tuesday afternoon surprise Michael! Hope y'all are having a great week thus far!
💙🙏🏼
And I believe you are referring to the dielectric gel there when you were first turning over the engine 😉
Loved this! And the bed dumps!
Glad you enjoyed!!
Heck yeah,. Cool old truck bro 👍🇺🇸🤘🔥🔥
Awesome! now put her to work !
We had a small dump truck similar to that when I was a teen in the 80's but ours was a '66 Chevy. We'd take it and a frontend loader down to the creek and come back with brown creek gravel we used on our driveway and the road going back to our barn, but otherwise it didn't see much use. Handy to have when you need one though. :)
Does anyone else like the sound of that starter!
Awesome video Mike! Cool truck 🙌
Thinking with air cleaner off shop vac might help 🤔
I think that’s definitely a great idea! We’ll give it a go before running it much more! 😃
I would still test compression for each cylinder, because if some mud is still keeping a valve slightly open, the valve will not last very long...
My late father had a Australian built Dodge 660 tipper as his main truck wich was powered by a dodge 321 v8.
Another great video, its so cool to see that old beast run, Im sure youll be driving it soon
Perty cool I've been a Mopar fan for ever. Great job.
Looks great for it's age
Wow, such a huge truck for a small 318. Must have some really tall gears and move at the speed of molasses on a winter day.
That would be short gears, not “tall” 🙄
Nice job.
Happy Motoring.
Very cool truck, what will the wife say? Lol. That's the problem with my truck, towing company lost the keys, in January, not fixed yet
Thanks!! I think she has blocked vehicles from her mind completely 🤣 She’s very supportive of what we do, in all honesty 😊
Nice work boys! Cool old truck.
you doing great video, do not change to fancy stoff.
Really like the dump truck. Can't go wrong with a 318. There just runners. Thanks for sharing 😊.
Dump truck looks great 👍🏻, som quality content again guys, 👍🏻
Thanks so much!!
That air cleaner is for the Mopar lean burn system
Cool Tonka toy😁
😁 Now that you mention it, it does look like a big Tonka Truck!
You guys are the best! Just good, family fun. I dont know my real fathers name, but my step dad had me working on cars since the early 80s. Sometimes there wasn't so much family friendly vocabulary, and back then we worked on them out of necessity. Now I work on them for fun. I wouldn't trade it for the world. You and your pops are AWESOME! Class acts, both of ya! Hello from Kentucky!
Excellent video Budget Buildz Mike :) also exciting fun find & remember Dodge trucks like that and use one was 5 ton 1975 old Hydro boom one for Sandblasting company back 1994 to 1995 ! Had gas motor 318 2 barrel then got newer intake with 4 barrel carb , Transmission was 10 speed with low and high, plus axle ratio 390 single axle with Hydraulic brakes no air type! But in 1995 motor went so got Industrial 318 V8 4 barrel and made running super faster on drive it ! Hope you men fix up and used to also future videos too!
Great video enjoy watching keep up the great work
I am happy the dust stays where you are, you should wear some mask when blowing it off 🙂
Wished I lived close to ya'll, I wanna come to work with ya'll lol. This is different but still just as awesome as ever. Props again guys 👌
7:18 that's a cold chisel not a cold-rolled chisel. A cold chisel is a tool used for cutting metal without heating, aka cold. Cold-rolled is metal that was formed into sheets without being heated, aka cold.
Thanks for the correction and info! 🙂
Where do I get the Merch!!!???? What yr did you graduate? I love what you guys are doing!!! Keep it going!!!
Awesome find! is going to be an useful machine for the shop!
We need a fleet update im losing track of what vehicles are on the fleet right now!
Thanks!! We can’t wait to put this one to work 😃 I’m sorry! We will do a full fleet update very soon! 🙂
Great find😎 great EP 🔥💯
Great video.
Thank you!! 😊
Man, you got an easy one here Michael! Love them MOPARS!! That truck is in great shape for a 1976! I'll be watching for the next chapter with great expectations!! Love this channel Michael.
Your subscribers keep growing, keep up the good work.
U can make a key from what u have with a thin scraper down the lock core scratch up the surface were the holes line up were the new key blank is & make a key & don't forget to lightly round the top of the new key or it will be hard to slide in & out
Keep 'em coming guys! Great video. Waiting to see what you do with the dump. Where'd you get it? Ft. Jackson?
Whoa, some seriously loud lifters for sure. (Factory manual lifters ended in something like 1966) Put a half a quart of kerosine in there to free up the gunk before you change the oil.
Awesome video! Keep it up!
Lapped the valves with dirt dobbers!!
You can also get those tumblers close and file the top of them before you snap the cap back on
Great video man, love it
That is very cool. I wish I had it my driveway definitely be a lot better. A man could have a pretty good side hustle with a truck like that...lol
👍👌👏 Congrats! Definitely a great purchase. Amazing easy first start. This sturdy, low mileage truck is even able to carry a slightly longer dump bed. Put a nice big old Diesel engine in it and I will love this vehicle even more. 😁 I'm eagerly looking forward to watch the next video part about this beauty.
Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and especially health to all of you.
These 2 can make any engine run even if it is years that it doesn't run
