8:40 I see you have the BCF pit & Adventure Kings pit looking all rusty in the background ha ha. We have both of those pits as well and are looking at upgrading to a stainless steel pit. Thanks for the video.
Just love Blue. Can you give him or her? a bit more screen time. They are all ball obsessed. I just bought the 450 today. You have reinforced my decision. Keep up the good vis, but with more " Blue". He or she is the real star. Cheers.
G'day Frank, glad I helped you out! Absolutely mate, he'll be getting a bit more screen time in some upcoming trip vids hopefully when this mini lockdown ends.
Moved up from the Adventure Kings to this Darchè. Your comparo vid was spot on! I used to blame the crap timber for smoking and not firing right up in the Kings. You smashed it with the lack of breathing prob. But the Darchè breathes and fires up beautifully. It was nice and warm and perfect for its size. Cheers, DD
Great video and demo !! These Darche firpits are a fantastic copy of the snowpeak ! Extremely good quality !! Cant knock them at all !! But the snowpeak definitely has a few more better features like the baseplate and stand for instance ! No flimsy clips that will certainly fail in time ! And the stand gets it right of the ground so no impact at all !! Also the snowpeak has a higher grade of stainless steal !! So choice is weather you think the extra cost is worth it or not !! But cant really go wrong either way!!
Cheers Sam, appreciate the feedback mate. 100% agree they're definitely a great quality fire pit and hopefully they'll live up to the Snow Peak design.
There is another copy of original Snow Peak firepit...very similar to this Darche. Its from company named Camping Moon. I bought it here in Malaysia. Thanks to Snow Peak for their very practical design which make other brand want to copy it.
@@charliedelta155 Campingmoon has Snow Peak fire pit copies of different sizes called MT-055, MT-045, MT-035, and a itty bitty one called the X-Mini-PRO. Then they also have fire pits that are less of a direct copy called the: MT-3, MT-2, and X-Mini. Grillz is another brand that copies the Snow Peak design. As an aside I always feel bad for Snow Peak when Darche / Kings / Camping Moon / other brands blatantly copy their designs. Image creating something people actually want, then losing profit cos these other companies just copy it and have it made in China.
Gday mate, I am keen to see what you still think of it. I have had one since they were first released and have found the following: The sides of the fire pit cracked after about a year. Darche were amazing and replaced it no questions asked - so fantastic service! I got rid of the cast trivet and use a piece of stainless with holes in it, which weighs next to nothing. I don’t think much thought was put into this component… I don’t like the bag. If the handle straps were square to the bag, it would be perfect, but it seems a lot of brands follow the same strap configuration… Just my thoughts on what I think is a great product that I use all the time!
Hey Drew can’t wait to do a follow up review on it. I’ve been using it pretty constantly since making this vid and so far I’m pretty happy. Definitely a couple of things I’ve picked out about it but I’m going to give it the full winter and then see how it’s standing up afterward. Hopefully it makes for a decent video!
Hey Bandit, definitely mate. The Darche is still my pick of the bunch. Can’t speak for the more expensive ones but the Darche did a great job for us this winter and still going strong!
Good review and thanks. I've got one on back order as they are going fast. It's not 316 stainless. 201 and 304. If it was 316 it would be close to $700 and not $300. It will "rust" to some extent but should last for years looked after. Thanks
I have always wonder how different are the snowpeak compare to other brands in terms of quality, albeit the price. Unfortuanely snowpeak doesnt reveal what type of stainless steel is being used for the built, but from what i gathered, it is by far the heaviest of the lot
Olive oil has a low smoking point so it catches fire easy Thats why it works well as a fire starter and thats why its not great for frying things in Burns quite easy
My 'ground plate' is actually S.S, but after having watched your review, I think it's really unecessary! LOL Again, great review, and a well produced video. Cheers!
Great review... looks like a great bit of kit ... I’m looking at buying one of these for evenings on the beach with that in mind & seeing you’ve got first hand experience in using one, from once the fire is out how long is it taking for the whole thing to cool sufficiently to be folded up & packed away in to its storage bag ?
I Bought the maxitrac fire pit, $159, looks the same apart from the charcoal plate that goes inside, is plate steel, everything else is the same, 2 year warranty. Like you I'm not spending $500 on a fire pit, just cant warrant the $$$, shit thats a swag hahah
Loved the bloopers 😂
Had to come back to watch the bloopers. They still made me giggle. 😁

No worries mate. Hope it helped 👍🏽
I’m sold thanks mate awesome review
No worries mate. Glad to have helped 👍🏽
As for firelighters, I find cotton wool/balls dipped in the old Vaseline works fine also.
100% mate, the old vaso never fails!

Thanks for such an in-depth review mate! Glad to see you're loving it 👌🏼
No worries. Stoked with it so far 🤙🏽
Olive oil has a lower smoke point thus it burns easier. Also being a thicker style of oil over canola it will burn for longer.
Nice review. Keen to see your follow up review.
Cheers guys. Keen to keep on using it! 😂

That’s all I can pick on the Kings one for really but the Darche one goes to show the difference in quality 👍🏽
Looking at buying one of these, thank you... that's very useful information.

Glad it helped
You convinced me mate
Thanks for doing the review

They’re definitely a quality unit 👍

Thanks mate. Interesting stuff and good to know 🤙🏽
Does the base plate leave a burn footprint on the grass? I wouldn't want to scar my lawn with an unsightly burn mark.
Hey Paul, I haven’t experienced any burning from the baseplate mate 👍🏽
The darche 630 fireplace comes with a zip up bag
I saw that! Definitely looks the goods.
I’d say it’d be bloody heavy though.
My 'ground plate' is actually S.S, but after having watched your review, I think it's really unecessary! LOL

Thanks mate appreciate the feedback.
I might even start running without the ground plate and see how the grass handles it.

@@OutNAboutAustralia Luke ... that’s great... appreciate that 👍
Thankyou
You’re welcome 😊
316 stainless is the compound of steel not 3/16 guage. Just about to go get myself one, much easier than carting the ozpig to some places
That’s why I went this one.
Would love to carry an ozpig but it’s just bloody bulky.
How does the grass look after a big fire? Does the baseplate do a good job of protecting the ground?
Hey Jack, so far mate it does a great job.
Obviously if you leave it in one place for a few days the grass dies off either way, but so far no burning!
@@OutNAboutAustralia Cheers the the response mate!
Nice 👍
Thanks mate, appreciate it! 👍🏽

Very interested in buying the smaller 31cm version, do you have any comments that may differ from the 45cm one?
Nothing major that I’ve seen.
The grill on the 310 is a little bit different. It just doesn’t have the flat edging on the sides.
can i use it on the deck ? do you think it will damaged the surface ?
Haven’t tried it myself, the base plate is designed to protect the ground but obviously anything it doesn’t catch could still damage the surface.
@@OutNAboutAustralia does the plate get hot ?
@@kaerka9107 no not in my experience 👍🏽
mate looks good strong last a long time dose not look like cheap crap
So far so good mate, it's holding up great.
Not enough box slapping in the intro lol
Its a copy of the Snow Peak.
Snowpeak should have put a patent on their product....everyone and their mothers have stolen the design. lol
I reckon so, there's enough of the design out there now!
