One time, while doing the pancake, I actually momentarily dislocated my hip! It scared the $%^& out of me. It popped right back fortunately, but I’ve been leery about doing this move ever since.
That sounds terrible John. It's very hard to dislocate your femur due to the depth and rigidity of the acetabular socket/joint. I hope you're ok!

Hey man, thanks for video ! Amazing content as always. How are pancakes different to splits and how can pancakes benefit martial artist and acrobats. Like middle and front splits give you high kicks, how are pancakes supposed to help and what moves do they help ? Thanks in advance

Thanks for connecting Basil … we appreciate your support and feedback No, this is the first drill we do prior. Occasionally we do active mobility like Ostrich Walk or Jefferson Curls before. That helps. Also, ALWAYS get your heart rate up before any stretching. 60 seconds of high intensity cardio drills is sufficient.
