Much appreciated ✌
good looking setlist, Kid!... puffies and peace!
Catching up on the vintage 77-78 era. Freaking sublime "6th gear" Dead! Thanx for your efforts
Wow - I've been a Deadhead for a long, long time now - - But this show blew my mind ! ~ Excellent !🤪😁 And the music has never stopped !
Good morning 🌄‼️🤓🎼🎵🎶👍 once more we get into the groove...!!! What a sweet Betty board!! Thanx from Canada 🇨🇦😇🥶❤️😎
Betty Board. All hail the goddess of the Dead and give thanks to her!
Thanks '77. Jerry was smoking hot on Bertha!
Betty is God. LSD saves.

Holy shit that second half of the first set is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You could always judge a show by it's Deal. (Considering it was played), I smoked a rack of ribs on this one! Don't you let that deal go down!!
I have worn out both my tapes and my CDs of the '78 Red Rocks run (I dig when Jerry flubs and Donna gets wicked) yet this Bertha is transcendent!
Love Bertha openers
thanks 77 😅
❤😂
Wow I actually had to stop during Looks Like Rain and double check - is that Donna, sounding so good and sweet on the backing vocals? where's the squawk and screech? I think that's the first time ever that I didn't cringe a little when she jumped in. (Don't get me wrong, I'm pro-Donna, but let's face it... it's an acquired taste; the soft, in-the-right-key, not-trying-to-be-Janis singing was a nice change and a surprise, lol)
This show is HOT
Anyone who gave this a thumbs down is on a different planet and one that I'm glad I'm not on - This show is on fire !
I totally agree with you Rick ! But just when I think it just can't get any better ~ Well it does ! This show is a good example of that !😁
Amen Brutha. Actually I'd just like to Trade planets Now. Is kinda Awesome in the Caribbean.🙏❤️🇸🇽🏖️
No such thing as planets. All made up for the mindless gmo eating masses of braindead compliance architects
All made up.
why are you wasting your time worrying about them?
April 78 was an amazing time for the Dead. Those who know, know, but not enough know! 😄
I know they're all special shows but this one is a little more special than most. Thanks for this scorcher!
Agreed. *tears*
I would say we're beating "Scorcher" to the the ground but Im just gonna be grateful instead.
Not trying to start a fuss, but I seem to be lost :(

Superb✌️
Yo ‘77
I try to reserve judgement about shows
Until after I finish them. Natural. But,
I just hit drums after fading out of Eyes.
The word that comes to me,
is Gorgeous.
Peace 2 All Beings ~ Nick.
Oh man… Eyes brought me almost to tears. I think it’s the most joyous thing I’ve ever heard🙏
Blown away....this is the best show i have heard in a long time & i just experienced Buffalo 77 & Cornell....the improv of Jerry and the entire band is amazing...Donna KILLS it!
The Boston show ain't no slouch either The Holy Trinity!
That's a blast from the past. Was at that show..saw a lot of music at Municipal, That one was magical.. Timeless
Me too!
That moment in the show where the jam really starts coming together and this may be the finest Tennessee Jed I've ever heard. A little extra twangy but not contrived and at the right pace. And off we go.
Check the 14th's at Virg Tech......oooooph
Just about perfect in Nashville. A fault, if there be a one, (is a Grateful Dead show), I cannot find. Enjoy, but do so irresponsibly.
This Peggy-O has made the whole work day worth it. Thanks 77
the 78 spring shows were really good.
One of the most underrated shows of the late 70s
Agree, it’s a great show.

Jerry reaching so high and sounding so melodic and heartfelt on Peggy-O.
I've heard many better versions of Peggy-O, but this encapsulates the joy that is Jerry. No matter what the man will amaze you regardless of his particular output on any given day.
The Tenn Jed is great, I did a double take. And that Peggy-O made me think everything is going to be ok.
The Tenn Jed BOOGIES!
That Tennessee Jed really caught my ear. The whole first set was really good but that Tennessee Jed really stood out to me. I don't recall a TJ with so much "heavy shredding". It's usually a little more laid back but I loved this slightly higher energy version. And Jerry was belting out those choruses with so much gusto, I love it!
Along with everyone else just want to say hello and thank you 77!
Happy new year!
⚡️😃
Jerry on Estimated and Eyes ....whoa brother..on 🔥🔥🔥🔥!!!
I listened to this eyes 8 times today 😂
some of the best music of the 70s.. really captured the vibe of the era. just like they did in the 60s too!
just popped the top on a new pint of Cherry Garcia. And, I'm lighting up a fatty. Anyone know which guitar Jerry plays on "Candyman"? Classic Jerrytone.
I wasn't there so I can't be sure but most likely it was the Travis Bean he played that from late 1976 to early 79 when he switched to Tiger. It sounds like Bean to me.

The Grateful Dead showing off in Nashville!!! a smokin' show that was in my disc changer for months :-) Thanks to Rob Eaton for rescuing the Betty boards!
A favorite over the years. Rarely mentioned next to some dates, but just as sweet. Sounds much cleaner than my old cassette tape! Sounds “ just exactly perfect” Thank you for the love❤️
This may be the best Donna show I’ve yet to encounter (and I am a huge fan of her). So damn good.

Music for Bertha just as good as any.
Wow, I've listened to this three times since yesterday. Several top 5 performances on this recording for sure. Stirred up a lot of old ghosts indeed. @theseventyseven77 happen to have an recordings from Mcnichols in 81?

@@ReedRosson1987 I'm down in Chattanooga. Surprisingly Johnny Cash sang 2 songs with Chattanooga in the title. I went many years without knowing that!
@@ocoeepicture Oh, good call, I hadn't realized that my self. Nice to meet you. Chattown is cool. I met John Bell from Widespread Panic at the Read Hotel several years back. Good times, good people!
@@ReedRosson1987 damn man you got to meet JB?! I love his voice!! And his lyrical abilities are underrated it seems. Panic was the first real rock show I saw- it was at the Chattanooga Armory in Nov '94. I don't remember much except smokin a j underneath a tank on display outside the place. But after that I saw them everytime they came through. They played here a lot- Todd Nance was born here, and he met Houser as sophomores at Hixson High School here. But Houser left and ended up in Athens and when they couldn't find a drummer he suggested Nance. I never got to see the Dead before Jerry passed, did you? I've seen a bunch of the spinoffs since '95. My fav was either The Dead (what they were called then) show at Bonnaroo in 2004, or the 2nd night of the Santa Clara Fare Thee Well show. That show was the first time i ever shed tears at a concert- they were playin He's Gone...
Phish played Chatt. only once- Oct '94 at the Memorial Auditorium. I didn't make it to that show, but when I saw them my freshman year at UT-Knoxville I got blown into Gamehendge...never to return lol.
@@ocoeepicture Bro, unfortunately I never got to see Jerry NOR Mikey from Panic..at least you got to see Mikey! I've also met Dave Schools (my personal favorite - and he was badass when he played with Mickey Hart Band, but then again when is he not badass?) .. I didn't get to meet Todd ..Unfortunately... but I HAVE MET DUANE TRUCKS, haha.. Jojo Hermann lives in my hometown of Franklin TN.. I don't know him but we';ve sorta spoken before. He played a solo show at the Bluebird Cafe when I was 20 (therefore underage, the owners made me watch from outside, he told them toilet me in but they still wouldn't! ... this was probable 06)... nicest person I think I have met out of many, is Keller Williams.. and David Grisman ! Yessiree, The Dawg himself, got pics with! Ha! Hey, it's good to connect, man! my name is Reed. i'm Robert Reed Rosson on Facebook but I haven't been on there in awhile. i'm also on Twitter. I live in South Nashville, we have a Grateful Dead tribute band here, my friends The Stolen Faces... it's great. it's called Grateful Monday at Acme Feed&Seed, it's every other Monday at 7pm-11pm and it is free. Donations accepted of course. Let's be in touch, though.. Cheers!!!
Jerry found Jesus before the end, I wonder if the Dead will play in heaven with Jerry again?
No one is going to talk about that rippin Estimated prophet?
Jerry on Estimated and Eyes 🤯🔥
They’re all rippin always
Btw u just did 😬
I would but words wouldnt suffice.....
They blend together so well. I seen Phil Lesh. They were before my time. I love the music. Thanks
I learned a lot more from the dead, than the school
Thank you for good 78. 78 is one of my top 5 least favorite years but when they were on they really smoked. I also have a problem not finding something I enjoy in even the worst shows. I guess, for example, I've discovered that I really love listening to 93/94-95 lately but sometimes I think just hearing Jerry, Phil, and the rest all together. Even Jerry's work on Wave to the Wonky sounded so great and happy. I still have my favorite eras 65-75, 77, 80-82/83, 85, 87-summer 90, 91-spring 93. But I love something from every tour. Keep these coming. I think I am still supposed to message you but I was under a different name and account. Rebuilding, rebuilding, rebuilding playlists of the best.
Agree. Nothing beats a soulful So Many Roads, Stella Blue, Morning Dew, Standing on the Moon, or Wharf Rat from 93-95. Even the Peggy-Os, Row Jimmy's, FOTD's, Brokedown's, and Terrapins...I tend to prefer the 90's versions simply bc of Jerry's emotion and that indescribable crack in his voice that never fails to tug on my heart strings. Take Care
I also am a spring 93' fan. 3/22/93 Omni, Atlanta was my first show. The 3/24/94 at the Dean Smith Centre might be my favorite show from that Spring.
Better head back to Tennessee, Jed. Wish I could. Tweaking the time machine. Grateful Dead in Music City. What could be finer!!
Where have I seen this zombie guy? Is it Scooby-Doo!? 😅
😆😅😅
Thanks 77! Sweet Peggy-O … ❤ What would your momma think if she heard my guineas clink, saw me marching at the head of my soldiers-O ❤ 49:50
Bertha opener coming in extremely hot!!
Who are these jokers giving a thumbs down to these blindingly brilliant musical gems? There's one or two of them on every show I stream. Are you the same jerks who booed Brent when he came out of space with "I will take you home" ?
I was at a show where they came out of space with IWTYH. It was kind of downer. You could feel the collective disappointment from the crowd. Poor placement of the song in the set.
Wait. I digress. Had to look it up. Instead of post drums, it was pre drums, 'Scarlet' into IWTYH. No 'Fire'.Quite literally
@@deweygill1973 okay brother you've got a point. But I personally love a good ballad out of space, if they did the likes of other one every night would we have kept coming back to back every night after night. Plus without the valleys those peaks would not seem as HIGH. Much love, ONE.
Agreed. Disappointments are short lived, and usually forgotten by the next song. It was nightly journey into the unknown and unexpected
I was entranced the first time I heard that. Cal-Expo, 19??

ooh, haven't listened to this one yet, but the play list has a lot of my faves. Will be listening right now! Got out of the Army in late 77 and saw my first show shortly after. 78 -81 is what I think of as "my dead period". Excited for this recording.
An absolute masterclass.

What a show.....All my favs. Loser. Peggy-O. Candyman. Just fine by me. Thanks 77
You know there really isn't anything that could be too terrible jere
Everything goes better with Betty Cantor Jackson. Just sayin'.
Absolutely
Wow .Jerry just shredding 'Jack Straw.' Beautiful and delicate yet powerful 'Peggy O'. Missed this show, , but saw the Uptown, Madison and Milwaukee shows, and Minneapolis in July. They were still pretty hot coming off '77. After Egypt, the Kieth and Donna domestic issues started affecting the rest of the band. It got so bad one night in Madison the next February, they were forced to get a hotel separate from the rest of the band, at least that was the scuttlebutt the next day
Damn Fine Good Lovin
Thick, deep, rich & weird! This is the goods! Back when a party was what it was supposed to be: fun w a capital F!
