It's wonderful to hear a musical work of this quality. Beautiful, well-crafted songs, well-thought-out arrangements, very different from the current sameness, which feels more like a dog chasing its own tail. Information technology, digital technology, democratized the possibilities of composition, but it leveled everything down. We live in an era of the obvious, a widespread copying of things, unoriginal and creative. A tragedy. É maravilhoso ouvir um trabalho musical dessa qualidade. I caught up for lunch with a buddy, Phil Judd, who was in Wellington performing with his band Split Enz from Auckland. Our own band was happening and we had connected - similar musical tastes. We spent most of the time talking about 'Crime of the Century' which had come out the previous week and set a whole new benchmark for us . . . one of the first 'post-Beatles' groups to really come up with something special. 'In the Quietest Moments' is still a bit of a masterpiece for me - this album still stands up - Supertramp were amazing, and perhaps a bit underrated?
