I'm glad it was helpful! I must admit on that video, which was my first flight with the Potensic the video quality didn't look that great as it was low light. There has been a firmware update that has improved the quality, I'm just uploading a video about that now. So keep an eye out for it 😉
..if that wireless mic is 2.4GHz it may very well interfere with the ATOM SE Drone resulting is significantly reduced distance / range ..the close proximity of the wireless mic (2.4Ghz) to the controller will not see the Atom SE perform to it's fullest ..generally not an issue for most operators as they seldom use a mic simultaneously ~ whereas influencers and product reviewers may.

I boyght sooo many Amazon Specials my first year flying, only getting a DJI (Mini 2, I believe) about a year in. I was convinced other makers HAD to offer similar performance. Wasnt the case, but there are a few these days that come close, with 3 axis gimbals and reasonable stability, such as the Atom. Its really decent, though QC is iffy, and some users have to return a few to get one with level horizon. Only weakness is signal strength in terms of comparison to DJI, but with VLOS rules, it meets the legal requirements just fine! Im a bigshot now, flying a half dozen prosumer drones (or a drone addict, as the case may be!) But I still love a good value and Potensic has a good product! You will obviously be able to compare apples to Apples against a Mini 2 SE, they are direct competitors, hell - that Atom is a straight up copy in aircraft design, and they throw in a few things, software wise! Thanks for the video!
So, looking at relenting and joining the ever increasing Drone community, I do a lot of outdoor stuff, and concede, I just cannot compete with the amazing panoramic shots achievable only with a drone. It would seem prices have finally come down, technology has improved - and after watching your fabulous no nonsense review, this could be the ideal first drone (with 3 axis) for me. Very interesting video. Looks just like a cloned Mini 2. The Atom definitely looks like a lot of drone for the money 😊👍 4K footage doesn't look quite as crisp as the Mini 2 but still not bad. Nice clear interface on the flying app as well.
There's a guy I mentioned before who goes by Idaho Quadcopter who just released a video where he was going to compare the Potensic Atom and the DJI Mini 2 SE. He had said he had problems with losing signal on the Potensic and he thought it might be from his DJI wireless microphone. He switched to a different camera and microphone so it would not interfere, but it did anyway. His comparison was scrapped because he lost signal and the Atom did an automatic return to home. The price difference between the Atom and the mini 2 SE is $100 U.S. I'm interested in your further videos to see how the Atom fares. You were flying in wind and I have wind all of the time. Does the Atom handle it well? FWIW, even after cranking up the volume, the studio audio is very low and it is hard to hear your narration. Cheers.
Yes I too watched that video, I didn't have any issues with signal, but I didn't fly out that far. As for the wind I thought it handled it very well. Just as well as my mini 2 se. I will do my video test comparing then as soon as the weather permits. I need a blue sky sunny day and I will do an overcast day too.
Out of all the new drones coming out in china, Potensic and Autel are some of the best copy cats of DJI, but lets5be honest here no one can yet beat DJI in terms of quality
I'd recommend both of them. Atom is cheaper with more features. Dji has a slightly larger camera sensor but a slower lens f2.8 vs Atom f2.2 It's a tough decision as Dji drones are the best currently on the market(90% market share) but potensic have made a great drone with the Atom!
@RobinDrones it's just seen the reviews of a potensic on UA-cam and amazon people have been saying there's alot of problems with them like it flies of by itself when you press the home button or the remote becomes faulty have you had any of these issues? And what do you think of the holystone hs360 drone?
No I've had no issues with the Potensic so far. I'm not sure about the Holystone I've never flown one but even know I've never owned one, I'd say that drone quality is in this order, 1 Dji 2 Potensic 3 Holystone
No, it's the Atom with the 3 axis gimbal. The se looks OK, but without a gimbal, the footage isn't going to look very good. I've seen videos of that one and the camera is all over the place! But it is very cheap and will fly the same as the Atom with gimbal
It just needs a bigger sensor, but that will increase the price, but if it's the same price, then people will just choose the dji. Although for the low price you do get tracking and waypoints..
This is what it says on the Potensic website.. Supported Mobile Device Size: Length: 160mm, Width: 100mm, Thickness: 6.5mm-8.5mm But I can double-check this later.

I'd recommend both of them. Atom is cheaper and has more features. Dji mini 2 se might have better quality video quality due to a larger sensor. But I need to compare both videos in the same lighting to prove that. I would totally ignore the 4k vs 2.7k

I think mine has gotten un-calibrated. It won't hover perfectly still. It sits and just blows all over the place with no wind at all. It's like the drone is drunk almost. Even when flying it, it Flys like it's drunk and makes video unsteady
@@RobinDrones had it a few weeks now. No crashes or anything. I always store it in the little bag it came with. I wonder if shoving it in there has damaged something. I did read online though that you need to calibrate your drone often and when changing flying locations otherwise stuff like not hovering properly or flying correctly can be affected. There is a calibration setting the app has you do with the drone on startup, so I will try that again and see if it fixes the issue. If not something is messed up and not sure what. So update, the app says to recalibrate the drone every time you move to a different location. I re-calibrated it and it is not as "drunk" as it was, but it still doesn't sit perfectly still. Idk if these drones are supposed to be able to hover perfectly still. But if I take an up close video of a car and focus on the door real close, the camera will be slightly swaying to and fro and won't stay focused on that exact spot on the door
Brilliant Review Robin love your honesty about the product. I think for money it’s a fantastic little drone with all the added features which you don’t get with the DJI Mini 2 SE which is a quality drone for the money but this could be its little brother I may invest in one myself.
Agreed its excellentfor the money, I wanted a mini 4 Pro but ended up buying the Atom as I feel like most new flyers will either choose the mini 2 se or the Atom so I wanted to showcase it.
Looking forward Robin to see what you prefer out of the two. I suppose it will take a while to come to a decision because of different conditions. I went straight from having mini2 se to the 4 pro ( more money than sense as they say🤪) but wow it's great mate!
I've learned it's all about the sensor size, really. Mini 3 and 4 Pro sensor is a lot bigger. Hopefully, the mini 5 will come with a 1 inch sensor so everyone will upgrade again 😉 😜 Mini 4 pro seems perfect in every way, it's just like you said it's a lot of money 💰 How much better would you say comparing the video from the mini 4 pro to the mini 2 se?

You could use the mini 2 se for the high-risk shots. One day, I will treat myself to the mini 4 pro... How's the collision avoidance? Do you trust it 100% I've seen people flying it through a forest, and most of the time, it does a great job!
I wouldn't trust it at all unless in a open space, I'm not sure how those other guys have managed going through the woods as my mini 4 pro has crashed itself into branches almost every time I've tried to used the active tracking and it was done in less risky environment's than the videos show, its also a lot more fragile than the mini 2 se and the camera protrudes further out than the plastic body so it takes most of the impact from head-on collisions @@RobinDrones
it went into branches today just walking down a country track and yesterday I was just having it track me while jogging down the street and it flew itself straight into a tree because it chose to take a ridiculous path to get into position set with active tracking @@RobinDrones
potensic is a junk company... the drone sucks and is low-quality.. don't waste your money just get a dji or learn FVP FVP is more fun and will give you better photos in the end .. very short range and has a connection issue where it won't fly in many spots because of interference.. they make a cheap want to be DJI that doesn't work well.. it will hover like in the video all day...
Bro get a life and stop talking down on a product that has plenty of good reviews from other youtubers especially captain drone which speaks highly of this drone, stop being a DJI fanboy, and one thing this drone has over DJI is no restrictions, so again go in the corner and make love to your DJI products. I wouldn't call potensic a junk company. It's actually good for the price. Remember, some people can't afford a mini 4 pro this is a good alternative for over a 3rd of the price. We need healthy competition in the drone market. Dji have around 90% of the market and this is bad for us consumers as they can keep the price inflated Just look at the atom base price of £269 without any offers, Dji lowered the price of the mini 2 se to match that of the atom.But I do agree with you at this present time that Dji are the best👌. As for the signal of the atom I've not had any issues so far, most people will stick to the rules and fly vlos anyway, so will have no problems. Thanks for the comment. Agreed its a good drone for the price and like I said in the reply to the other guy, not everyone wants to spend a small fortune on a dji mini 4 pro when you can get most of the features with the cheaper Atom. Image quality won't be as good but most of us are watching on 1080p phone screens anyway! Unless we're doing professional work, the Atom or the dji mini 2 se will be good enough. 👍

Have you tried the distance yet? How far before you lose signal?
The furthest I've been out is around 500m. The signal seems good, but it's not as good as Dji

Yes it's very good for the price. I didn't have any interference with the dji mic 2 with my first flight but time will tell.

You could set the white balance to manual and set it at 5600k for outdoor shooting that's what I try to do if I remember 😉

The only thing that's really missing for Potensic are ND and polarizing filters to fir the lens. That would make the color much better.

These little drones are a bit small for Pocket 3 to track, lol! It can hold on Mavic 3 Pro a bit longer, but not too far either!

Yes it will remember if you change some settings. And yes by hovering this will still use battery.
Stick your nose next to it as it starts hovering to check n see if its steady . Thats the way 😂😂😂

Really, could you have a bent propeller maybe? Can you calibrate the IMU on the Atom? I'll check now...
Unfortunately, there is no option to calibrate the IMU, it must do itself before taking off. How long have you had yours?
@@RobinDrones had it a few weeks now. No crashes or anything. I always store it in the little bag it came with. I wonder if shoving it in there has damaged something. I did read online though that you need to calibrate your drone often and when changing flying locations otherwise stuff like not hovering properly or flying correctly can be affected. There is a calibration setting the app has you do with the drone on startup, so I will try that again and see if it fixes the issue. If not something is messed up and not sure what.
So update, the app says to recalibrate the drone every time you move to a different location. I re-calibrated it and it is not as "drunk" as it was, but it still doesn't sit perfectly still. Idk if these drones are supposed to be able to hover perfectly still. But if I take an up close video of a car and focus on the door real close, the camera will be slightly swaying to and fro and won't stay focused on that exact spot on the door
Brilliant Review Robin love your honesty about the product. I think for money it’s a fantastic little drone with all the added features which you don’t get with the DJI Mini 2 SE which is a quality drone for the money but this could be its little brother I may invest in one myself.
Agreed its excellentfor the money, I wanted a mini 4 Pro but ended up buying the Atom as I feel like most new flyers will either choose the mini 2 se or the Atom so I wanted to showcase it.

Looking forward Robin to see what you prefer out of the two. I suppose it will take a while to come to a decision because of different conditions. I went straight from having mini2 se to the 4 pro ( more money than sense as they say🤪) but wow it's great mate!
I've learned it's all about the sensor size, really. Mini 3 and 4 Pro sensor is a lot bigger. Hopefully, the mini 5 will come with a 1 inch sensor so everyone will upgrade again 😉 😜
Mini 4 pro seems perfect in every way, it's just like you said it's a lot of money 💰
How much better would you say comparing the video from the mini 4 pro to the mini 2 se?

You could use the mini 2 se for the high-risk shots. One day, I will treat myself to the mini 4 pro...
How's the collision avoidance? Do you trust it 100%
I've seen people flying it through a forest, and most of the time, it does a great job!
I wouldn't trust it at all unless in a open space, I'm not sure how those other guys have managed going through the woods as my mini 4 pro has crashed itself into branches almost every time I've tried to used the active tracking and it was done in less risky environment's than the videos show, its also a lot more fragile than the mini 2 se and the camera protrudes further out than the plastic body so it takes most of the impact from head-on collisions @@RobinDrones
it went into branches today just walking down a country track and yesterday I was just having it track me while jogging down the street and it flew itself straight into a tree because it chose to take a ridiculous path to get into position set with active tracking @@RobinDrones
potensic is a junk company... the drone sucks and is low-quality.. don't waste your money just get a dji or learn FVP FVP is more fun and will give you better photos in the end .. very short range and has a connection issue where it won't fly in many spots because of interference.. they make a cheap want to be DJI that doesn't work well.. it will hover like in the video all day...
Bro get a life and stop talking down on a product that has plenty of good reviews from other youtubers especially captain drone which speaks highly of this drone, stop being a DJI fanboy, and one thing this drone has over DJI is no restrictions, so again go in the corner and make love to your DJI products. I wouldn't call potensic a junk company. It's actually good for the price. Remember, some people can't afford a mini 4 pro this is a good alternative for over a 3rd of the price. We need healthy competition in the drone market. Dji have around 90% of the market and this is bad for us consumers as they can keep the price inflated Just look at the atom base price of £269 without any offers, Dji lowered the price of the mini 2 se to match that of the atom.But I do agree with you at this present time that Dji are the best👌.
As for the signal of the atom I've not had any issues so far, most people will stick to the rules and fly vlos anyway, so will have no problems.

Agreed its a good drone for the price and like I said in the reply to the other guy, not everyone wants to spend a small fortune on a dji mini 4 pro when you can get most of the features with the cheaper Atom. Image quality won't be as good but most of us are watching on 1080p phone screens anyway! Unless we're doing professional work, the Atom or the dji mini 2 se will be good enough. 👍
I have owned one... it's junk believe me..or waste your money it is all up to you.. I'm not talking it down it is what it is JUNK mine is in a box because it fails to connect in most places..save your money

Hay dude, I have a good life...hehehe.. I don't fly DJI drones either.. these kinds of drones are for the handy caped....hehe. I bought one of these's POS at the beginning.. I almost stopped flying... It IS the most worthless Drone I have ever been around.. it would never connect where I wanted to fly so we would have to wander around looking for a place that it could connect.. I love flying drones... save your money and get a good one@@rainbow6replay733
