My mom use to crochet and she made me and my sister hats scarves & blankets etc. when we were growing up. She tried to teach us but we just were not interested.
I regret that. So now since you are such a great teacher I will learn how to knit.. thanks 😊

Found your video today. You are a great teacher. Easy to follow instructions and understand which is a big plus for someone hard of hearing. I used to crochet and knit a lot. Not to much anymore. I may give this one a try. Don't think it will bother my carpal tunnel. Thank you again for taking the time to make the video.

Yes, it is beautiful, but as a knitter (60 years) and a spinner, I do not recommend making this. Not only is roving incredibly expensive, roving was not meant to be knitted as it has no structure and will fall apart in due time. Also, roving will not stand up to washing or pets. If one does wish to make such a blanket, consider a very chunky yarn in form of acrylic or superwash wool instead.

Like many of the comments I see listed, the wool is soooo dang expensive. I went on a hunt to find something more comparable that doesn't break the budget, and there is yarn I found at Michael's that works well. It's by Loops & Threads, their Free Spirit yarn. When on sale at Michael's, I got it for $25 per skein. I just made this blanket yesterday with that yarn and followed this tutorial. I used 4 total skeins, and I did 20 stitches instead of 18. I just had to felt each skein together which wasn't difficult. It turned out so beautiful! I want another reason to make more since it was actually pretty fun

For those of us who can't afford this wool, the dollarama where I live just started selling really thick wool (I think it's actually acrylic) and it's $4 a roll. I think I'm going to use this method to make a rug for Christmas :) Thanks for the tutorial!

I am enjoying all your videos, Anja! I used the Michael’s Loops and threads, 4 skeins for $67 on sale. The project turned out well but it will be used for “show” only on a queen bed because the yarn sheds like crazy. It measures approximately 40” by 76”, longtail cast on of 21 stitches. I would like to make a wool roving blanket and did this less expensive one for practice. I read most of the comments and would say that before doing something like this, make sure you watch many videos and do research on felting roving wool. All of Anja’s videos were helpful and she has a couple on felting. I saw that someone spent $300 and didn’t like the result. Please don’t give up; I would take it apart and felt your yarn to make it much stronger and will shed less. I have learned as a knitter that tinking (unknitting) is part of the process of getting a good end result in knitting. Michael’s Loops and Threads will not need to be felted because it is polyester, acrylic and wool. Laurie

It was very clear and you explained this process very well. I would love to know where you got your felting tools. I love this so much. I purchased 8 pounds or merino wool to try to do this but not only can I not fit 18 stitches on my arm so they are even but my tail is not getting shorter! Even though I’ve slowed your speed down and have taken it apart several times I can’t seem to get it right. I’m thinking about getting a thick rod of some sort to use as an arm. I think I’m twisting loops wrong to. I’m not giving up though because I am making this as a gift for my daughter for Xmas.

Thank you for this awesome instruction, and for keeping it short. I'm sure your blanket is of superior quality, and some day i'l make one for myself.
However, for the more frugal bunch like me, just tonight I went to Michael's and bought two skeins of yarn at $34.99 each, and got the third one for free - that's not expensive at all. Since each skein is 54 yards of a BEAUTIFUL, super SOFT like Merino wool rose color, that would make me a decent size throw, at a total of 162 yards. There are so many GORGEOUS muted and natural colors to choose from as well. Since the blanket that I want to make requires 142 yards, I'll have plenty of yarn to possibly make it tad bigger!!! Today is January 3rd, so even if I make one blanket per month, I'll have plenty of beautiful handmade throws to give as a Christmas gift in December to about 12 people. Have fun!!! 😊👍👍

I was thinking that! But do you just felt at the ends like she mentions? Sorry my daughter wants to make one and I want to buy for a Christmas gift.

Nice video. Very helpful. Thank you! I chose to use a less expensive yarn - just as it's your choice to use a nicer yarn. Btw - your hands are perfect, your hair is perfect and your beautiful yarn is perfect. Don't read the negative comments. =)

@@PeonyandThyme I did!! My first attempt and your instructions were great! I am not creative or crafty at all and would never had attempted this without your video! I actually bought the nice yarn to make a blanket for my daughter in law. Thanks again. Enjoy your holidays.

First, may I say how much I love your enthusiasm! I hope by now you are able to disregard the negative comments about the cost of the yarn. You stated upfront that it was luxury wool yarn so obviously it is going to cost some money. So please disregard those comments. The color of the blanket you chose was so beautiful! I have a question. What did the final measurements of the blanket end up being? I want to make a baby blanket but don't know what the gauge is for this thickness of yarn. Thank you so much. Regardless of other comments, you did a great job making this video. Not too fast and very clear. Blessings.
