Got a custom astatic mic. It keeps changing the channel whenever i try and key on. I remember changing the setting for the other mic a long time ago but i cant figured this out
First you’ll likely need to change the setting to Dynamic in the menu as I’m betting your astatic microphone is a dynamic model. If that doesn’t fix the issue check your wiring to make sure no wires are making contact. If it still is doing it you may need to add a resistor in the microphone. I had this issue with a road devil on a President Lincoln II but this was before they had the dynamic option in the menu.
Ssb is legal here in the UK without license now days (since 2007) which is a shame that this radio does not have it. Not had a copy to the states in a few years now, are you guys still there?
If you check out a propagation site like Solarham you'll get depressed. The sun hasn't been ionizing the ionosphere since 2016 or so and most days the maximum usable frequency never goes above 30 meters. On CB here in the U.S. we get occasional sporadic E and tropospheric skip but have gone for months at a time without a peep. It's open today to the southern states but not across the pond. Maybe someday.
The good news is that the solar index will peak in 2525. It's been slowly edging up mostly lately. The good news is that 2022 is almost here. Getting closer to 1970s style radio. (Looking forward to seeing Pirates again.) Ahhhh...memories of my childhood and deregulated radios in the States. During and after the 80s, was the falloff in their use, in my experience. Trucking industry here still uses them quite a bit, but I've noticed it's contained within certain city centers and major highways. When I was working in and around Dallas - Fort Worth (Texas) area, it was booming. I both benefited from it and helped others in many traffic and road/weather conditions up there. Was glad to have it, for sure.
So I did did the conversion. I looked in the manual I have 2 channel numbers that are the same example 11 and 11 with a little symbol between the 1 and 1 looks like a A any thoughts
I am a Ham radio operator and cannot see how this radio would be used in a Ham situation. Sure it has FM and AM but most use voice on 10 meters which is SSB. I've never even heard a QSO on AM on 10 meters. This is really a CB radio designed for the Ham 10 meter band but really no good for Ham. With the mod you made, it would be a better CB radio than Ham radio. Just my 2 cents worth. W Rusty Lane K9POW in eastern Tennessee

i did the complete reset of the radio so it went back to 10 meter. Now i dont know how to put it back on the cb channels. Can you help me how to do it?

Great video. I think it's very informative. I have a President Ronald and I'm looking for a how-to video. I haven't seen one on your channel. Do you have one available? Thanks
yeah, adjusting a radio without the proper equipment can and usually does lead to a disaster. Unless you know what you are doing, stay out of adjustments, it is only to easy to screw it up. Seen it to many times.
I didn't like the radio so much. I bought, installed it, and noticed the radio had a very high noise floor. Took the radio back, got another one and the same thing, a very high noise floor.
The high noise is common with many newer radios and sensitive receivers, the key is to back the RF gain down slightly to reduce noise without compromising incoming signals. This method works quite well.
The Walker II is the FCC 11 meter CB radio you want. It's the legal CB radio that the Richard isn't. Otherwise, they're the "same" radio, as far as the limited channels that you want.
I'm not really impressed. Just another souped up cb claiming to be an amateur radio. Amateur radios have no need for echo. You didn't mention ctcss codes or repeater offsets which would be needed on 10 meter fm. Just another way for president to sell "export radio" type to American cbers

If that doesn’t fix the issue check your wiring to make sure no wires are making contact. If it still is doing it you may need to add a resistor in the microphone. I had this issue with a road devil on a President Lincoln II but this was before they had the dynamic option in the menu.
What is the wattage on the CB mode when you switched it
Does this mod cut back the cb wattage when done?

Is this a Ham radio or CB radio?
Why would I use this radio and turn it into a cb
So I did did the conversion. I looked in the manual I have 2 channel numbers that are the same example 11 and 11 with a little symbol between the 1 and 1 looks like a A any thoughts
Alfa channels
@@JohnnyHolder-sd1mv thanks I did get it figured out
I am a Ham radio operator and cannot see how this radio would be used in a Ham situation.
This video is very helpful and educational. Everything I’ve learned on this video for my President Richard makes it work amazing! Thanks for sharing!
IT WOULD BE NICE IF STRYKER COULD COME OUT WITH A BASE STATION ALL I HAVE IS THE SR 955 HP MOBILE RADIO RUNNING OFF A ASTRON 50 AMP. POWER SUPPLY
A stryker base would sell like crazy imo. I'm first in line lol.
@@027MC7 Seems the Stryker 955 are out of stock everywhere?? Anyone know why?
If you switch it to CB only like you showing the video how many watts is the radio pushing
navigating the hidden menu only works with the stock mic. found this out after wiring my D104 using the stock plug.
now i got to get another 6 pin plug to go back on the stock mic...
Howdy Mike; Got a new site,Great I finally bought a mckinley and I' having a ball with it Have a great one
How do you scan??
That huge VOX button is dumb.
You can turn on/off VFO tuning mode by going into menu and turning the Span on after modding radio. Also I am curious if it is possible to transmit on 12 meter.
i did the complete reset of the radio so it went back to 10 meter. Now i dont know how to put it back on the cb channels. Can you help me how to do it?
Hi I used the cb president Richard on AM but can you tell me how I can take the 50 watts on swing ?(what do you mean by swing)
insted of a jumper cable,.... can i solder a switch insted ?
I bought one from drail the other day and I had them put some resistance to that light because it is way too bright in a dark cab
On the FM mode, under the engineering section, is that the deviation adjustment? Just guessing. Thanks and Thank you for sharing your knowledge and excellent and most informative videos with us. By the way I don't own a President Richard I just enjoy watching radio related mods.
When you make the jumper connection on the board does it make the am side 50 watts also
For the president Richard.
Thanks
I hear you guys often testing, North of Montreal, Quebec
How do you change the frequency mine was on the 27 frequency and now it went to 28 and i cant get it to go down
The pd option doesn’t come up on my menu options? Any reasons why? I’ve reset it on both modes and the pd option still doesn’t come up on the menu
Excellent review , that’s my Christmas present sorted, the wife doesn’t know that yet, thanks for your help, best wishes Patrick 🇬🇧
Quick question.. Has anyone noticed when using the built im SWR tester, that the beep can sound distorted at Any volume level?
Thanks
I cannot get my radio to go into the PD mode in the setup mode it does not show the PD mode in menu
However about receive? How would you rate the Noise Blanker circuit with taking out electrical noise?
Great video. I think it's very informative. I have a President Ronald and I'm looking for a how-to video. I haven't seen one on your channel. Do you have one available? Thanks
Does anyone else have an issue of the deadkey spiking when the rf power is turn all the way down? If so, do you know how to fix that? Thanks!
yeah, adjusting a radio without the proper equipment can and usually does lead to a disaster. Unless you know what you are doing, stay out of adjustments, it is only to easy to screw it up. Seen it to many times.
What mag mount antenna would you recommend say you did the jumper for CB?
The Radio is Now with the New FFC Part 97 can be Use here in the US,
Channel 9 is emergency. What is this 6?
A good looking radio, thanks for the info, best regards, Tim 26 HT325
What does the jumper next to that one do?
I didn't like the radio so much. I bought, installed it, and noticed the radio had a very high noise floor. Took the radio back, got another one and the same thing, a very high noise floor.
The high noise is common with many newer radios and sensitive receivers, the key is to back the RF gain down slightly to reduce noise without compromising incoming signals. This method works quite well.
it fascinate me how you remember
Thanks for the great video. Question: Is there a way to remove the "alpha" channels on the CB mod? I just want the standard 40ch.
The Walker II is the FCC 11 meter CB radio you want. It's the legal CB radio that the Richard isn't. Otherwise, they're the "same" radio, as far as the limited channels that you want.
Is the PD mode only visible afther soldering the jumper cabel?
I just tested it (was anxious for a desaster) and yes it worked. pffffff. :)
Nice radio thanks how much?
Good looking radio but needs ssb.
I'm not really impressed. Just another souped up cb claiming to be an amateur radio. Amateur radios have no need for echo. You didn't mention ctcss codes or repeater offsets which would be needed on 10 meter fm. Just another way for president to sell "export radio" type to American cbers
