Wish you would show the scope that shows the frequency and power spike. Some mods just cranking up the power doesn't keep the power in the frequency you're talking on. Power just goes out of band improving nothing.
Little unknown factor too most people this is made by the same people the make the striker and this radio is just as powerful if want the best bang for your buck and the same power this is the steal
Sir I just cannot say enough how much I like this President Richard If your into the hobby you know this rig has functions and features found on high dollar 'Export" jobs for about half the coin $ I plan to pair the Dick with a KL203P and other amps this rig has 3 finals Sir that's enough to drive up to a 4 pill amplifier man! This is the best money $ I've spent so far in 2022.
Question: If I bought this radio from a truck stop, can I plug it in and start talking or does it have to be modified and aligned like the old Galaxy 99’s had to be?
Since he did not show any work being done, I doubt he did anything to it except go into the engineering menu and crank up the power. The finals won't last very long. I doubt that radio is even working today.
@@uhfstation3530 He probably spread some springs on it at most. That is why it was showing dirty modulation. And if it did better on low power than I am betting it has some back swing as well.

You're setting your wattmeter wrong when it falls back slow your on average RMS. When your needle falls back fast you're in Peak mode. Just letting you know I have one just like this great meter!
Best deal out there right now I got it off Amazon I plan to use the Dick with a 203P amp should be a cool little rig to play with. This little rig has features you see on high $ "Export" jobs for a better $ I did the 27 mhz expansion with no soldering I didn't want to risk soldering inside of a brand new rig and It can be reversed just as easy I gotta say this President Dick is as good a rig as you will find for the $ loaded with functions and features I like the active scan of all 40 channels simultaneously Game Changer!
Too bad it won't do SSB. I never talk AM on CB radio (11 meters). I am a Ham and love 2 meters FM we have in our area. I did just put up an Antron 99 so I can talk SSB on 11 meters usually stay on 27.385 on LSB. W Rusty Lane K9POW in eastern Tennessee
Oh dear oh dear.. overdriving amps normally mean the harmonics start to appear. Whilst you do that demonstration show what's happening on a spectrum analyser. You can't setup or demonstrate power output on a radio properly unless you know where the power is going. Let's see the second and third harmonics.
Please tell us how you did the mod sir. I tried setting the numbers on AM power and AM Modulation and went back to the default settings its the best dead key yeah this is the best setting for dk-swing.

No one ever explains what they do to the radio to boost the transmit. i have this radio converted it to 11 meters, it does have great recieve out of the box, but modulation sucks. What can be done to it? Pull out the limiter???

I've had him set me up a Stryker 447 HPC and bought the Richard set up from him and I get nothing but kudos from everyone I talk to, so whatever he's doing is legit... I don't run either radio maxed out but love what he does for the audio. no complaints here. Currently running Messi & Paoloni hyper flex 5 cable with silver gold pin pl259 connectors transmitting through a Hustler scbb antenna on a Breedlove ball mount and stud and swr is down to a 1.1 and it works for me without any issues. I'll go with Doug's work any day.

Why have a scope if you overs-can display and cannot see peaks for flat-topping. Let's see spectral purity on your spectrum analyzer.

Use your emergency 1 and 2, they are both programmable from the menu.
emergency ch 1 and 2 you can setup whatever two favorite channels you want..

Late response, but this radio shouldn't use over 12 amps at 13.8 volts. These transistors are rather efficient.

My bet his mod was only done in the engineering menu. Turn up the modulation to 210.. seems to be pretty good

No not pulling the Limiter.. it's running 12v now..it's a secret
There is a secret menu. I turned my modulation and AM power up on my converted CB.

These are not tunable probably just cut the modulation limiter.
They are tunable through the front of the radio, no offense to this guy but that much power that radio won’t last long.
