- The Farmer in the Deli is actually a convenience store that is well known for its chopped sandwiches. It is so well known that the line sometimes stretches from the deli counter all the way around the store and even outside, so plan for a wait when you go. Trust me, it is well worth the wait!
You can order any combination of ingredients they sell for your sandwich with one very important difference from most delis - you can pick anything from the store isles, give it to them, and they will put it into your sandwich. So, if you like a certain flavor chip, or anything else, for that matter, they will incorporate it into your sandwich.
The meat and cheese are all freshly cut and assembled into a pile along with your desired items. When everything has been added they start chopping, and chopping until all the ingredients are blended perfectly. The freshly chopped pile is then put on your choice of fresh bread.
The wait goes by quickly and the sandwiches are well worth the wait because they are unique and tasty. It is for that reason and because the staff were very friendly, I am giving them 5-stars.

Normally they're served layered with ingredients, so the mouth feel involves crunchy and smoother notes and allow the palate to enjoy various flavors, sometimes heightened and sometimes diminished but playing off each other. This pre-chewed sandwich movement is just gross, why not just put everything in a blender and eat it with a spoon out of a bag? I know you espouse "each to his own" but this abomination is like eating a prime steak, well-done smothered in ketchup and ranch dressing, yuck!

That was my impression the moment I stepped into this place. The line was long but even the people in the line were great. There were many locals in line. This one lady was so helpful, telling me about the process and her favorite sandwich. She's a big reason why I got the tuna and turkey. She said it was excellent and I have to agree.
When I first saw these sandwiches a few years back, I decided to try them at home.... SOOOOO GOOD and every bite was perfect! No "this bite mostly meat and the next mostly veggies" it's really good

Im convinced people in new york have no idea what good quality healthy food is and this video confirms it. All the ingredients used are the worst type possible. You could make this sandwich with freshly grilled or smoked tuna, some real cheddar cheese instead of synthetic American and pulled roasted turkey and it would actually be good for you and taste amazing.
NYC has the greatest variety of food on the planet from sandwiches like this to Michelin star. This is just one example that you are judging on. No where in the world can you get the variety and quality of different foods like here in NYC I travel the world with my job. Go look at my other for videos.
