The problem with trying to replicate this in most racing games nowadays is the fact that games have anti-wallride measures to make the races more fair, usually making your car stick to the wall and slow down a ton. IRacing is more of a sim than a game so it works there much easier.
It’s illegal to do on iRacing, has been for a few years
@@DoubleKlutchRacing yeah it's illegal on Iracing, I was just talking about whether or not it was possible
@@aidanrogers6767 I figured and I also didn’t make it to the point in the video where they said it either
IRacing is far from a sim
@@ReturnoftheDILF name a better racing sim… Wait, I’ll name the one so many claim is better but still very “arcadish” (not a word I don’t give a damn) especially compared to iRacing, it’s AC. It’s not that great… sure it’s fun but that’s it.. no sim will ever be perfect but iRacing surely is the best all around sim out there.
His brother, Chad, taught him the move.
So this is a certified Chad maneuver
Seriously?
@@NASCAR_Junk Seriously. Ross's brother beat him with the move in a video game. It must have really pissed him off too because he never forgot it. LOL, you go bro. AND Ross.
Chad and Ross
Chadstain
let me guess their father is named Giga
Put it in 5th gear, foot to floor, let go of the wheel and close my eyes..singing "Jesus take the wheel". RC is my new Nascar hero lol
Okay but you cant call him RC. There is already a legend currently in nascar called RC.
@@chasejordan22 ok sorry...just being lazy typing...Ross Melon then
TES, I don't think people listen close enough to what Ross said he did, letting go of the steering wheel to give the car it's head (horse riding term), shifting up to 5th gear then keeping the throttle pinned WFO made that move work for Ross, Ross Chastain to me is today's Tim Richmond.
@@chasejordan22 💯💯
@@IDv8I Watermelon Man
I have seen several folks try to recreate Chastains move none have did it on the first try, most have crashed, so he did in real time what everyone else cant do with practice.
I do it all the time in NASCAR Dirt to Daytona; doesnt seem to work in the newer games
More likely, the game physics don't account for a car riding full speed on the wall. Racing games are notorious for amazing glitches when cars crash. This move registers are crash damage
if you cant do it first try in iracing there might be a problem with your driving abilities. its litterally ride the wall turn right floor it. first try and i beat his lap time however i had fresh tires
its a game lol its probably easier in real life where physics actually work
This comment reminds me of captain sully
The local news covers this better than GMA lmaoo
I mean, this is a North Carolina station
Anyone can cover NASCAR better than GMA lol
Is gma good morning America?
@@Eduardo_Espinoza yes

The physics irl:
Canon physics is better than fandom physics sometimes
Oh my god, the mainstream media is putting NASCAR back on the map!
And for something good this time!
no. Ross Chaistain put NASCAR back on the map. THe mainstream media just noticed.
@@hagamapama Agreed actually.
That was an awesome thing that happened. But nascar is only better than drag racing cause at least you can turn one way. Which really makes no sense lol.
Ross will forever be a Nascar legend for pulling off that move!
Daniel, it was stupid and highly dangerous. NASCAR will no longer allow such crap.
@@sergeantmasson3669 you realize we're talking about purpose built 800 horsepower race cars that regular do 200+ MPH right? Of course it's dangerous, every time those drivers get on the track it's dangerous! And stupid? That's a personal opinion of yours that very few people seem to share... As for "Nascar will no longer allow such crap", say who? Nascar officials have already openly stated they have no intention of banning what Ross did.
@@bluegizmo1983 All False. No NASCAR race cars/trucks have 800 HP, nor do they do 200 mph anymore. BTW, NASCAR has already added a rule that now bans the crap that Chastain did. Applies to 2023 season, PUTZ.
@@sergeantmasson3669 I don't care to fact check you but if true then that further cements Chastain in Nascar history as the only driver to successfully wall ride in competition.
@@chucksherron I couldn't care less about your opinions.
As someone who plays iracing I can also confirm it does work
It really does. Though I think time gets deleted in qualy if you hit the wall to do it
With some cars… not all
I need of this game
@@blaco7933 it's a sim more than a game, if you want to get into simracing welcome, it's gonna be expensive 😬
@@FAB1150 I feel like sim racers are still games. Sports are games, aren't they?
He did what was necessary to get into the championship WITHOUT wrecking any other driver.
Exactly. Imagine if he had the chance (space) to go thru all the way in without anyone in front. Would be ended 3rd maybe? Like a bullet train passing the checker flag.
@@gustavosaliola 3rd or 2nd 😂
I can say I was alive to see a single videogame move done IRL ressurected NASCAR hype...
For a few weeks, at least.
That move by the melon man will be the lore we speak of for years to come,
On the same level as the pass in the grass
Seriously. Because nobody cares about who ever won.
Damn, this is actually a good segment
I use to wall ride in midnight club LA! There was a specific race that takes you down the Hwy towards the beach area and the tunnel was perfect for wall riding and keeping you speed from dropping! made racing hard difficulty AI a cake walk for earning money!😎
Dale Jr and friends over on Dirty Mo. Media were mentioning there wasn’t much damage to the actual side of the car, and the tire was still holding air… Apparently the car rode on the wheel hub spindle that sticks out. They said it wasn’t possible with previous GEN cars or trucks because the body style and the wheel style wouldn’t be able to do it, combined with the shape of the outer wall on that specific track
The fact that they made a custom livery for the news station is hilarious! Pass the download link and I'll gladly rep Fox 8 News! Lol
It's amazing he pulled it off in the heat of the moment. I just hope nobody else tries it in the event something goes very wrong.
Shutup
Exactly, if two of the cars had tangled in front of him he'd have plowed into the wreck at an unreasonably high closing speed.
@@almostfm like 20mph
@@afoxwithahat7846 He was running 70mph faster than the cars around him.
It puts Nascar in a tough spot. If someone does it and gets hurt they'll have to ban it. You can't argue that it's unsafe as hell even though it's awesome.
He should have said the throttle stuck.
@@GetOffMyPhoneGoogle cars have crashed at higher speeds than that
Cool segment guys. The move was legendary. Awesome
I always wondered if that would work in real life because I definitely did that on gran tourismo countless times
He really come around an entire pack on the high side! In all honesty being Martinsville, which is a short track with low banking. It’s a lot different than theses bigger tracks where you can open the throttle up. On a short track, not only do you have to lift off of the throttle whenever you come into the turn, but you also have to brake. Otherwise your car will tighten up and become wall bound.
The whole field just got Chastained!!!!!
I was half expecting them to pull out a gamecube lol
Not knowing your news channel from Minnesota, this video was awesome! Thanks guys!!
In gran turismo 4 i did a 24 hours race with a weight on the controller riding the outside wall. Considerong my car was faster i could just throttle it around the bank for 24 hours straight. Sad to think how much that game took from my childhood 20 years ago.
This move is the hardest thing in sports history to replicate, I believe its as hard as doing Michael Jordans dunk competition slam
This would be so cool to use in real life, I'm all for it.
My new favorite news station, Keep these fellas around
He took wall riding to a whole new level. 😳
Not only is the Phoenix wall weird but it's also too big, it'd scrub speed instead of adding. Bristol and Martinsville are the two tracks you can definitely do this on. When I put comments like these I also add Richmond with a question mark, I need to try it out to confirm
This was good thank u!
It is the Chastain Lane.
Thank You!
Been searching to find a video of someone demonstrating the wall riding in gameplay. I'm old school so I used to do it on Forza Motorsports. 3.
LoL... I could also jump over My competitor's car on one particular road course.
ua-cam.com/video/JZUFxGJnv1w/v-deo.html the link.
Warning ⚠️... I designed my car based on the Dukes of Hazzard.
For people saying this breaks the rules of physics, it’s actually a known exception in scientific study called The Rule of Cool. When a move is cool enough, physics no longer fully apply.
I just wouldn't hit the brake in the video game and it always worked but the tires would go bad fast
Kind of like that Fox livery
I tried this on I-285 in ATL & it worked great
such an anime moment where he had a flashback how his brother beat him...
Awesome video!
You know it was watched so many times... cause we were all waiting for 1 of the drivers to do this and 1 finally did.
Time to put tires on the sides of these cars soxwe can see more of it
"Imma bout to do what's called a pro gamer move"
The new rule NASCAR should implement:
Cars should have solid vulcanized rubber casters for tracks like Martinsville, Phoenix, New Hampshire, etc.
I think they should just grease the wall during every caution. They already send the trucks out anyway.
This was so cool. Chris is a chad with that glove
“I don’t know if anybody else in the world had those” bro seriously? The GameCube? Come on now lol
Beamng is a proper sim lol theres no anti wallride things there. I think they can recreate it there
I was just racing with you last night Chris Weaver. Remember I asked what you do you told me you were a journalist and now you're on my UA-cam feed weird. And we were talking about exactly what you guys were just talking about that is insane! The phones listen but we already knew that LOL nice rig bro
Initial D viewers are like "What? No one's done that before?"
Easier to do on the gamecube like Ross Chastian did it on, not on iracing.
Its not shock its admiration.
i tried this accidentally in the rain about 10yrs ago. I managed to drive the car home afterwards but it was tore up good lol.
This pro move makes me wonder if I would be able to prepare ordinary, trash car for such impact by putting rollers on its sides XDDD It could be revolutionary for car chases XD
I did it a couple days ago on Heat 5 came to the final corners in 5th and ended up winning the race
What a legend to pull it off
They used a Ford. That’s the problem 😂
This is crazy!
They should try this on BeamNG with the Next Gen nascar mod 😏
Nothing makes me happier than both the mainstream media covering NASCAR and three grown men playing video games and having fun with it.
Great Hail Melon! The best melons around
That poor logitech base with that massive wheel on it
Say it with me now.
Hail melon!
he said he did it on a gamecube i'm upset you guys didnt get a gamecube and nascar 2005 chase for the cup
Want to impress me, take the news car and replicate the move at Martinsville!
I’ve raced against Chris before I think haha, that’s great
Remember when Carl Edwards tried something similar haha
Everyone wallriding final lap of phoenix loll
I think this one's as good as Herbie's fence maneuver.
awesome i was here
I like to believe Ross contemplated doing it the whole race and just said fuck it on the last lap knowing he would destroy the car, took back like 1.5 seconds in two turns, crazy move
You hear him ask how many spots and the spotter replies and he goes full Ricky Bobby I think he even grabbed a gear going into the wall for some extra speed around…
Certified CHAD.
@@Daytonaman675 yeah, heard that he went on 5th gear, pedal literally to the metal around the whole corner
You can see how he speeds up prior to the corner as well
Now try it on NR2003... LOL
The only reason this worked is because he only did it around the last turn, this feels like it'd be one of the Dodge Lightning challenges in Nascar 07 if this happened before that game released
My man is a fellow GameCuber!!!!
>did in Gamecube
>uses Simrace
Lol they do wall grinding on gt7 😆
Its actually quite easy to reproduce, but games that try to balance this will be a hindrance, in the older need for speed games you could wall ride many curves and be faster than racing normally. In some Gran Turismos it was viable too.
I Think the problem of recreating it in a simracer is that they are created to simulate realistic tire to ground contact and not the realistic metal to wall contact. If you would add a plane the physics would also not automatically be realistic.
Trying to figure out if i just watched the same clip six times
So you tried a video game move on a video game? Topnotch and brilliant reporting, how have you guys not won everything?
I find it funny it took them so long to try and ride a wall
Sorry folks, y'all used the wrong car. You have to use the "cheat code"... CHEVY 🤣
I did this all the time in Need For Speed Carbon with muscle cars
Carl Edward's did this first and referenced it to a video game
Good video
After this all car will have armor on the right and the stage will be set so that this meta will be viable in the future
Video game physics are not designed for this. That's the main issue.
if they didnt have a sim then...i can bet these guys have a sim now lol
If it is legal I'd be installing some heavy duty casters on the side of my car and get ready for next time.
F nascar if they pass a rule
He said let go of the wheel hit the gas
I love it for NASCAR. Do I think this move will ever happen again? No but it’s getting more viewers for the sport though.
Nobody wants to watch them just drive around in a circle. Nascar has pussified it to the point its extremely boring. Like many other people i used to watch it but between caving to the crybaby libtards and pussifying it its boring as hell.
Look at that rig shaking lol. These people have no idea what they're doing
That's why we are going to leave it to the professionals boys...
Why did they not try on a GameCube 😐
Who else thought they gonna do it in real life? 🤦♂️
Someone should try it in NASCAR Thunder 04. Maybe that would work or not?
Up until 3 months ago, there was a few tracks that you could do this in Grand Turismo 7... But they penalized the move.
Ross Chastain IS " The Rim Ryder"!!!!
The issue with the way they were doing it is that they were trying to hold the wheel. Chastain took his hands off the wheel and just put the throttle down
certified forza moment ™️
Hopefully no one attempts it again
I have a feeling it wont end well
PlayStation 2 and 3 Gran Turismo I've done it run the wall it works real good on the tracks with dirt and snow. did not try the hardtop race.
A literal Chad move!
Don’t hold on to the wheel.
I feel bad for the winner of this race, Chastain just took their whole spotlight in one move
