hey my names Bugsy I used to busk those streets a lot 10/15 years ago, I found this video fascinating and it reinforced my belief that the attitude of the city has changed. With the influx of residents and the closing of the high street it has given rise to a more 'industrialised' status quo. As you said people are too busy trying to get where they are going no time to look around and absorb the atmosphere. Good luck with your videos I will make a point of coming back during the summer and try and help restore the music scene to its former glory. (you were lucky to make 57 qd starting g at 10, normally nothing until 11 so fair play)
This is so insightful, thank you for sharing 😃 it’s interesting how changes within a place’s infrastructure can have an overall effect like this! Love that you’re going to return in the summer, I may have to do the same! Especially as I was there in February on this particular time! 🙌🏻
@@AugustRadioProject yeah if you do return go outside the cathedral, they say you're not allowed your amp there but if you keep it quiet you'll get away with it. you get the people in the queue then ua-cam.com/video/SiMp1WH3dvE/v-deo.html
Hey, commented on one of your videos a few weeks ago when I started busking. Was making nothing back then. Have been watching every one of your videos to get inspiration and tips and ended up going to Winchester and Weymouth. Made £40+ on both which is alot better than my £0 I used to get. Thank you so much. Aiming for £50 next time and will keep trying to improve!
I love this so much. That's SO rad to hear! 😃 this is exactly the result I want these videos to have! So stoked for you. Keep at it and things will only get better - the best thing about busking is the more you do, the better you get 🙌
Hi ya, just want to say I live in Canterbury and I see loads of buskers. Quite a mix sometimes, flute players, saxophone players, squeeze box players all with their amps and backing tracks. Singer/guitarists are very common, but I've never seen any attract any kind of a crowd, maybe two or three people at the most. However, a very large crowd one day last week when a choir turned up. ps I believe I saw you on that day. Anyway, best of luck wherever you go.
Good to know! I do love Canterbury- definitely need to return. This time for a summer expedition 😃 glad to know the busking scene is thriving though! 🙌🏻
Thanks for the video! I'm heading out to the Netherlands in September for my first busking trip, gonna stop off at Canterbury & Herne Bay on my way & try my hand 🤞
That's awesome!! I hope the Netherlands is good, always loved that country! I may be heading out there October time so feel free to let me know how you get on! 😃
@@AugustRadioProject Hey! Just back from Netherlands, due to my poor planning I didn't get a chance to go busking there, but had a great debut solo gig! Busking in Canterbury on the way out was awesome, I drove down from York and arrived around 2pm. Used the Wincheap park & ride which dropped me off at Whitefriars shopping area, which was absolutely heaving with people & total good luck, found a perfect busking pitch right by McD and Costa with some seating outside. There was a market trader around the corner so I checked in with him just to be courteous & at his request waited 1/2 hour til he'd sold the last of his strawberries, he really appreciated that & bunged me a free punnet to say thanks, result! First hour was pretty slow, mostly large groups of kids hanging out but when they moved on I had a perfect crowd, many of whom stayed & watched for the whole 2 1/2 hr set which was just wonderful. Made £80 which was way more than I had hoped for one set. Would definitely try there again next time :)
We got to see a little more of your performance in this video. Pretty dynamic (at least compared to mine!). I think you will find you will do much better in the summer there when there are more tourists around. I look forward to seeing that video.
