Man your videos are so helpful. I turned 30 and my business went bust, I picked up a guitar finally (6 months into this now) and started writing songs, my plan this year at 31 is to build enough confidence to go out and do open mic nights and sing in front of people, the problem is I suffer from major depression, anxiety and am neurodivergent, any tips for building confidence? In my head.. once I’ve done 1 song in public or even busk surely my confidence will grow.. dam anxiety is holding me back I think

Man you are so right! I‘m a young Swiss musician and in the final stages of finishing my pop-Rock debut album. It will be a success for me no matter what size gigs or how much money i will make. It will be a success to me if I will have fun playing the gigs. And if people walk out with more than they walked in. Most important thing is to stay passionate about your project and ENJOY IT!!!

I spend so much time hanging on the plan of busking ... to leave someone with a nice melody on their way to work. But it becomes monetary. About pride. ego. fear of the unknown, sometimes of the expectancy of that. To enjoy every aspect of the playing is key I feel, but it can be shadowed by that impending sense of doom. Not having the character suited.. Any advice for when the sort gets in the way? I'd love if "it's even closer than I could imagine" from your latest video would apply even with these types of concerns hang over someone who has so much appreciation and drive for the path. Keep up the great work. Its inspiring 👍👍

Amen brother! I'm 55, been a working guy for most of my life and now I'm heading to Nashville in a few months to play music full time. I've been playing since my teens but never tried for a music career because of a lot of mental roadblocks. I've had two insurance companies turn their backs on me when I needed them. I'm proof you can fail doing what you don't love so you might as well do what you love!

I was already kind of burnout last month so I decided to have my holidays even when I didn't made the money to go out somewhere nice. But it was soooo good having a rest because since I started my career in music since late 2022, I was nonstop learning, rehearsing and playing!

What was your band called?

I started busking back in may last year. I took to the streeets after watching your UA-cam videos for a couple of months. From this busking I went on to do my first gig in August last year and my music career has been up from there and I’ve never looked back. At only the age of 16 I’ve still got my future ahead of me and I hope to continue my carrer in music and hope to turn it from a part time job to a full time job. Your videos are an inspiration to me and alot of others. You really are the best busking UA-camr ever!

Love this video man! Showing up can go a long way. I was out busking on Saturday afternoon and was approached by a fairly well known dance music producer who asked me if I’d be interested in singing on some tracks for him. This came about because I was putting myself out there!

Another awesome video, dear friend whom I’ve yet to meet. Your light truly shines brightly! When I tell people I’m a musician I don’t think I’ve ever had the negative comments and doubts you mentioned. The first question I’m nearly always asked is, “What do you play?” I’ve earned my living through music for most of my adult life, so at a guess probably for more than forty years. Sure, much of the first half of that was in education, with various band projects in the evenings and at weekends. After that probably fifteen to twenty years as a community musician, workshop leader, composer and performer. I’m a relative latecomer to busking. I first went out on to the street in 2021 as a direct attempt to find myself again after all that pandemic isolation and my gig diary being completely wiped out. I was losing touch with who I am and just needed to get out there doing it. Now, in receipt of my pension and approaching seventy years old, my income is more stable than it has ever been and I can choose when to work. It still brings me joy!

Really interesting one, this. Especially the idea of opening up possibilities for 'magic' to happen. Since my band nosedived, I've worked in a creative industry, where one of my old creative directors would always espouse 'less logic - more magic' in the way we had ideas.
